Ezra was a congressional staffer and anti-poverty advocate. He started out working on local homelessness issues, and during the late Bush II and early Obama eras he served as a senior legislative and campaign staffer for Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX).

The title pretty much says it all. Indivisible is especially helpful if you want to start a group for the purposes of influencing your senators and congressional representative, but even if that's not possible for you, it also provides a lot of useful information about how elected officials' offices work, what's important to them, and how to be effective if you call or email them or have a chance to talk to them in person. It's also well-written and free of typos, and you can't say that about too many self-published documents! Available for free download at indivisibleguide.com. Recommended!

This book is a must-read for anyone who is an American and who did not vote for Mr. Trump and who is worried about where our country may be heading. Written by congressional staffers, it is a easy to read, concise, and very useful inside look at how to get your Senators and Congressman and Congresswoman's attention. It tells what matters to them (getting reelected), and what you need to do to be heard by them. Easy things, but things that get noticed. The book also tells a history of the Tea Party movement, and how we can now use what was learned by the Tea Party movement actions to get even more notice by our elected officials. Positive things, useful things, how to get heard. How to make a difference.

Download it (it is free), print it, read it, highlight it, keep it handy, use it. Something new is happening here, something is bubbling up across the country, and change IS possible!

A straight-to-the-point guide on locally-focused defensive political action. Every tactic mentioned and the reasoning behind each is common sense, but presented as part of a coherent strategy interwoven with the message that the principles of organization and action that worked for the Tea Party will work for their counterparts on the left. It delivers this message while rejecting some of the more divisive methods used by the Tea Party in favor of exhorting the reader to explicitly reach out to marginalized groups targeted by Trump's rhetoric. At the same time, it warns some of the more vulnerable groups away from tactics that could single them out for retaliation, reminding the reader that the more privileged groups have a responsibility to use that privilege to ensure that those not in a position to speak for themselves effectively have their turn at the mic.

I'm not what I would consider very politically active or savvy myself, so I can't judge the quality of this guide from practical experience, but it was straightforward overall, and supplemented with a few realistic-sounding example scenarios for interacting with local representatives and their staff.

This is a step by step and gives suggestions in how to form your own group or get involved with an established on already. It gives suggestions in how to get active, what to do at city call, suggested ways to make yourself know and visible, under the radar is needed, and even in phone called and letters. It's a how to in the successes of the Tea Party and what they were able to do but now turning it around and applying towards the reign of Trump. Lots of good information and I see where it's coming from when they say this is about slowing down the process and/or stopping it. I recommend this to anyone that wants to be active locally, wants change, or is uncertain with the Trump agenda.

Highly recommend to anyone who wants to take action and incite change, but isn't sure where to start. We as a nation are still learning how to effectively organize, and we're learning quickly.

"The Tea Party’s success came down to two critical strategic elements:
1. They were locally focused. The Tea Party started as an organic movement built on small local groups of dedicated conservatives. Yes, they received some support/coordination from above, but fundamentally all the hubbub was caused by a relatively small number of conservatives working together.

I've read the guide over and over, as well as the Indivisible 435 Guide to Elections. I'm on the steering committee of our local Indivisible Chapter. We are fully involved in elections from local to federal and we do a tremendous amount of work advocating for the rights of all people, resisting the destructive acts of our president - after all, he's the reason the Guide was written in the first place. The Indivisible Team has expanded as has the information and tools all conscientious, compassionate and realistic people can, and are, using to combat the corruption and nonsense of this administration. Even if you don't ever want to be part of a local Indivisible, the info is very good for those who want to interact with their Members of Congress.

This is really great at being what it is: a short, manageable introduction for anyone to pick up and begin to hold their federal reps accountable. I consider myself rather well-versed in these issues (I'd logged many phone calls to my members of Congress long before T-rump ever considered politics), and I learned a lot of new practical advice. This is something to send to your apolitical relative who is really angry about Trump - it will orient them and give them actionable steps that can be as much or as little as they like. I found some of the information helpful, however I think that the resist Trump and Tea-Party message, while important, may not resonate with people that are more centrist.
