In my three years on Wattpad, I've read a lot of stories. Some have stood out above the rest but none have come close to the brilliance of Bereft. Ren's writing is captivating- beginning to end. The story line is unique and refreshing among countless in the fantasy/paranormal categories. Sara Gaspard isn't some cliché damsel-in-distress. She's quite honestly a badass, with or without the Original Sin of Pride by her side.

Every twist in turn within the story had me eager for whatever came next. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series has in store for Sara and Darius.

For the first time in 4 years that I've come to be a part of Wattpad, I finally found something that is truly compelling. And right now, I'm struggling really hard to find some book that can compete with the series. Bereft just had the characteristic that can make you stop reading for a while because you can't just take tension that happens inside the book. It's like watching a drama show and you're currently in a very intense scene and you can't bear to watch the next thing that's going to unfold so you just have to cover your eyes for a moment to settle down your nerves. This book can totally make you feel like that.

And gosh, if you can just really put yourself into the shoes of the characters, you'll find it definitely hard to breathe and I spilled a bucket of tears ever since I've stumbled upon it. The plot twists of the book is like looking towards the other side of the street and the damn truth just comes out of nowhere hitting you absolutely harder than a bus.

And the complexity of the whole plot is just so mind-boggling. It's not rushed and everything is genuinely planned out. I initially thought that the following sixteen books are going to be a bore but I'm actually choking on my own words now. I can't imagine what would I feel when the series finally ends. I'd probably be devastated. I'm really wondering what are the amazing stuff that's inside the author's mind for she just created a whole new universe.

Last thing, I just love Sara Gaspard and Darius and how everything that happens between them is really natural and their connection with each other is something that really happens in real life. I admire the author for not making the main characters stereotypical, just like in other books that something romantic instantly flares which is really off-putting.

I'm honestly giddy of the things that are about to come! I can worship the ground you're walking Ren Tachibana for coming up with this greatness. Never felt like this ever since reading the HP and The Mortal Instruments series. I hope that someday that I will see these books gracing the bookstores' shelves!

When I started this book I went in with no real expectations. I was blown away at the writing, the vocabulary used was extensive and the description the author was amazing (you can tell that Ren has put so much effort and love into it).

The story itself, centred around Sara, a receptionist with a twin sister who are both kidnapped by cultists and served up as a sacrifice to get a demon's (Envy) attention, getting revenge, with the help of a different demon (Pride), whilst she is slowly dying from wounds inflicted by Envy.

What I loved specifically about this story was not only the fantastic world building, but also the characterisation, Sara quickly became a character I really cared about and understood her motivations for what she was doing and I could sympathise with her. I also loved how her relationship with Pride grew into something quite spectacular also.

I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good YA fantasy fiction.

Ren's powerful descriptions and witty dialogue made me fall in love with all the characters so quickly!
The story has a lot more characters than 'usual', but each one is introduced so seamlessly and given such strong personalities that they all become extremely memorable.
The storyline is written at a perfect pace, with every chapter leaving me on edge; staying up to finish the book within 2 days was very much so worth it.
I came across this series by chance on Wattpad, so now it will be hard to find another book to match the maturity, humour and suspense of 'Bereft'.

I am a very voracious reader and never ever in my life have I seen a fictional world as intricately made and as wonderfully rendered.

I have read the first version on Wattpad several years ago and until now everything has stayed with me. The haunting lines, the bigger than life characters, the subtle life lessons.

Ren Tachibana is a master of her craft, she deserves more exposure. This book and all the following installments has been and still remains as the best pieces of allegory I have ever encountered.

Never have I ever been more in love with a book than this series. Everything, absolutely EVERYTHING about it is MAGNIFICENT! The characters, the plot, the writing, the creativity, the depth of knowledge and research and planning and effort that has so obviously been put into it. It's everything I've ever wanted a book to be. This is my absolute favourite. it's literally perfect.

all these years on Wattpad , and This series was by far the BEST thing I've read, and I am not lying!

This book was perfect, and SO WELL WRITTEN. So balanced and REAL slow burn. I would do anything to read it for the first time. I love Pride and I love Sara.

Sara is a smart, loyal and empathetic FMC and Pride is well...Pride! The magic System is thoroughly and well explained through Physics knowledge.

All the characters were fantastic and upto their characteristics throughout the series.unfortunaty I could only read the 3 books fully available and whatever few chapters of 4th book was available. And I would kill to get my hands on the complete series.

and I was so Happy to find out that author is planning to publish these books. And I would give all my money to get my hands on them. But I have no means to get any update. @Ren Tachibana, please let us know any of your social media—through which we can get any updates(other than Wattpad please)!!

and if you haven't read this series, then what are you doing on Wattpad!!

I can't even reread these books since I can't access Wattpad due to some technical issues in my country.

I had a lot of fun reading this! Really liked the characters and the worldbuilding. Will definitely read the next book in de series.
Why only three stars? I was distracted by some plot inconsistencies and most of the big twists were quite predictable (or they were for me at least).
This was actually the first draft of this book, and I believe the author said a new version will be coming soon. I'm exited to see what she did with this.
And like I said: I'll definitely read the next book in this series!

This is definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read. I was a little concerned at first. It seemed a little too dark for me in the beginning, but quickly developed into a surprisingly bright world filled with dark themes of revenge, murder, and sin. With a little bit of rage, hope, and a gentle, slow-burn relationship, this book quickly grew into my all-time top faves! Looking forward to the chance to finish the rest of the series.

This book is unlike anything I have previously read for this genre. The story is both fascinating and original. There are many twists, turns, plots, subplots, etc...
The amount of detail is abundant, almost too much so. Also there is a saturation of word choices I felt distracting and also unnecessary. Having said that, I do recommend this story.

All I want out of life is to be able to read this book, please if you stumble on this comment, reply me cause I opened my goodreads and amazon app for the first time this year just so I could buy it but I can't seem to find the right link.

Is this book in paperback? An audible or ebook?
I'm desperate, please. Wattpad only has a sample now.

This is one of my favourite fantasy books forever. Darius and Sara have my heart in a chokehold for real. Their banter, their relationship and their adventures have been the highlight of my day for real. These two are ride or die for each other and I love to see it for real

Definitely recommend it whenever I go.

If you gave me a one time superpower to erase anything from anyone's mind, I'd erase this series from my own brain, and enjoy it for the first time all over again.

I should write a future mail for myself.

Re-read June 2022
I have read this book countless times and I still can't get enough. I love every single character even the villain. This series is AMAZING. I just hope it gets published soon and gets the recognition it deserves. That's my only hope for it at this point of time.

This book and the series as a whole will always have a special place in my heart. I LOVE all the characters with my entire being. I've read this book about a dozen times and each time I re-read it, it feels as if I'm reading it for the first time. The characters are incredibly complex and compelling. The world building is marvelous and the writing is top notch. The series deserves to be published.

I absolutely love this book, from the writing style to the plot to the way the book weaves in with the other Bereft books, it's just an amazing read and you can tell how much time and effort Tachibana put into it. I completely recommend this to anyone interested in fantasy, demons, or good old fashioned revenge.
