This is the latest novella in this series I've read, and each on I rated 3-4 stars more 4's then 3. I'm not going to keep reviewing them, you can read the 1st 10 to see what I thought or you can download the first one for free on Amazon I really recommend you do that if you like witch stories or funny British humor.
I rated this a 3 not because it’s bad but because it’s just more of the same and by book 18 I’m kind of over it. Jack and Jill’s relationship just keeps getting more snarky and less believable, jill is just as gullible, and the mysteries get solved too conveniently. In this one, she solves the case of broken washing machines and a guy who jumped out of a plane and unexplainably died. She’s still a level 4 witch and people are questioning how she knew about the secret passageway at CASS. Not much else going on in this one. I think I’m done with the series for awhile.

Witch Is Why The Wolf Howled (A Witch P.I.Mystery Book 18)
This was a very good book how ever I do wish the author had done more to make it more interesting.I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I don't know how Adele Abbott comes up with the plots in the series, but the mysteries that confront Jill are always fresh and the solutions are always creative.
I've lately been seeing signs that the next book will be the last one in the series--this was labeled #18 of 19. After reading this one, it seems less likely, though since there are a number of issues still up in the air. There is the new series, also set in the same world, but I have to say that I for one will be missing Jill. She kind of grows on you.
UPDATE: As my commenter observes, Ms. Abbott has since added further books to her list of those to be released, so there are apparently many more to come. And I couldn't be happier about that!
The first thing that happens that is good is that Mrs. Mopp quits! Yay! She was a total waste. Even better, there's a possibility that Winky's original owner has been found. Maybe there's a chance to get rid of that cat once and for all.
There is trouble at Amber cafe, Barry is going back to where he lived before, there's an anti-Jill broadcast, Winky is up to something (as usual) and there's a mystery to be solved with a Magical Skincare product.
There's also a problem with washing machines that malfunction, Riley is furious with her (which is also as usual), there's a negative television interview and a movie about zombies is to be filmed there. Real zombies or actors?
Also, don't skydive. There's a death involved there and Jill tries to find out just what the truth is.
Jill is having to deal with more cases which I think is a good thing. One very annoying character is gone which is also a good thing. Maybe the books are getting better?
An entertaining witchy cozy mystery/urban fantasy series. Great cast of characters with an entertaining storyline. A female private investigator and finds out she’s actually a witch. She must now straddle to worlds. The human world in the supernatural world. She finds out she has family in the supernatural world as well as her adopted family in the human world. Follow along as she solves mysteries and murders and Mayham in both worlds. Very entertaining and imaginative series. Check it out
With 18 books in, you'd think there wasn't anything left to tell but it's still as good as the first! I think it works because while the mysteries are good, the rest is left superficial and uncomplicated. Jack is present some but there's never much drama with hom. The twins and grandma are crazy but not too involved, so it all centers around Jill's life with people who happen to be in it.
Jill is at it again solving mysteries in the human world and in the sup world. I liked this book because the main mystery was a real puzzler and because the mystery of the title didn’t reveal itself until the book was almost over. When it did reveal, it was like a side note, but a good one.
I could only find 2 mistakes in this particular book. One was, “Me And Gilbert are planning on going…”. It should’ve been, “Gilbert and I are planning…) This is very bad grammar. The author really needs to correct her mistakes and be aware of them in future books.
Jill uses a lot of magic to get her cases solved. From washing machines to skydiving to health gyms. Of course, you can't forget a very special cat, Winky
Jill is chasing zombies, ghosts and vampires throw in some bad humans and a shark and you have a good mystery and the really question is did Winky's first human just find him?
3,5* It was okay. The cases were fine, nothing special. I missed more of Candlefield and magic, though. And I am intrigued to find out more about the connection between Magna Mondale and Jill, hopefully the next books will bring some more of it.
I really enjoy this series. It is interesting, lighthearted, and wickedly funny. I especially like the Audible version of this. The narrator, Hannah Platts, is bang on. You can tell which characters are witch. Looking forward to the next in this series on Audible.
I can’t put this series down. Great humor and fun plot lines. As the series progresses I enjoy the tidbits of including the reader. I feel part of the story. Snigger.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
#17 and still a joyride of mystery and sleuthing with Jill and the cast. I do wish she'd stop making up unnecessary lies when confronted, but I guess that's part of her charm.
