Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Oregon with their two children, three dogs and a cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

I always wanted to know what went through Curran's head when he first met Kate (remember the "Here kitty, kitty, kitty" line?) and it was just as funny as I thought it would be!

She crouched with her hand out. What the hell was she doing...?
"Here, kitty, kitty, kitty."
Oh my God. She was an imbecile, and I was going to kill Jim.
She blinked and stared at me. She'd seen my eyes glow.
I let go, shifting in the dark into my true form. If you want a kitty, little girl, I'll give you one you'll never forget.

"What kind of woman greets the Beast Lord with 'here, kitty kitty'?"
"One of a kind.".

So these "Curran POV" shorts are specific, iconic scenes from the Kate Daniels' books, as seen through Curran's eyes. The pdf is available on the authors' website, so I downloaded it quickly to my kindle and will be reading it as I move through the series.

This one, "Unicorn Lane," relates Curran's thoughts as he first meets Kate and she delivers her "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty" line. Curran comes off with all the arrogance of the Beast Lord, as he should.

Curran's first meeting with Kate in Unicorn Lane, he's expecting a greedy mercenary and ends up finding her intriguing even as she taunts him. I loved getting to peek into Curran's brain and seeing his viewpoint

This collection of Curran's point of view was most entertaining. I actually enjoyed his character more than Kate's. After reading this book, I think I will re-read Magic Bleeds.

Did I mention I'm a sucker for Curran POV.
Yeah, maybe once or twice, or a 1000 times. But who's counting?

There are so many instances where I wanted currans pov but beggars can't be choosers and I'll take whatever this author couple will give me.. every drop.. every crumb and the craving isn't anywhere near subsided... I have no goddammit clue why aren't ilona andrews a big deal.. I've read the overhyped books and they were no where even good when compared to ilona andrews... I've read every single word this couple has published and I haven't found anything that even matches their standards... and I read almost 300 books a year.. so I know..... anyways I needed more of curran... a proper book in its entirety..I don't care if the plot gets repeated.. I want to know every single nuance of his reaction to kate and what ensued.. this book Wasn't enough..... not even close...

This is a very brief short story showing a familiar scene from Magic Bites as seen from the point of view of Curran, the Beast Lord. In the book we know what's going on from Kate's thoughts and reactions, but it's great to see things from Curran's viewpoint. This scene is where they first meet and you just know that they're going to mean something to each other. It's suspenseful and funny, just the way their relationship continues.

A peek into Curran's mind when he met Kate in Unicorn Lane. While far shorter than a short story, it was a nice read that displayed well enough His Majesty's arrogance.

"Here kitty, kitty, kitty" must be one of the most epic lines in the history of characters meeting each other for the first time, so to be in the head of the recipient was a treat.

I loved the KD series, so naturally, seeing things from Curran's POV was fun. This didn't blow me away by any means; it's not like anything new or earth-shattering was introduced. But it was a fun read offering a different perspective on several scenes.

Basic plot: Exactly what the title says.

I love the Curran POVs. Getting to see his side of the interactions between him and Kate adds a lot of depth to the stories. If you haven't read the book, this will make little sense to you.
