Life isn't easy when you are powerless even if you can relive your days again after you die.
Knowing Emilia is in danger Subaru and Rem desperately try to return to save her as well as everyone else at the Roswall Manor but what can the two of them do against unknown dangers as well as the terrifyingly strong Petelgeuse who has them both at his mercy. After Dying once more from an immense freezing strike like last time Subaru must discover new ways to save his friends even if he must make deals with the Emilia's rivals. However each rival will visit upon Subaru a different lesson as his desperation and experiences with dying time and again have begun wearing him down.
There is also a hint to a connection between Ram and Priscilla's knight Al and we get to see the dreaded White Whale as Subaru tries once more to reach Emilia against all odds knowing death probably awaits him once more in the end even if he is tiring off the pain.
This series has some fun moments but also has a tendency to go dark. The protagonist is a typical guy from the real world but being able to return from the dead to some point in the past like a saving point allows for him and others near him to be hurt or murdered in many horrible ways so I can't blame him for crying out that he doesn't want to die even if he will probably come back once more. If only he could explain this power of Returning from Death then warning people about what is to come would be so much easier.
Subaru is feeling frustrated. He's looking for support to save the mansion and the village as well as defeat Petelgeuse. While he's looking for help, he comes across something strange. Rem declares her love, and Subaru is compelled to protect her in every way.
