Finding out that he is adopted is a shock to Travis Rhoades, and he isn't happy that his father hasn't been honest with him. Discovering that he is a demigod, the son of an actual Olympian god? Well, butter his butt and call him a biscuit. Now, he's full-on pissed off.
Werewolf-vampire hybrid Lucian Tenebris has had up to his eyeballs with his charge's childish and annoying antics. Travis Rhoades refuses to embrace his destiny like his other Olympian friends have. As his bodyguard, Lucian irritates the young man just by breathing. All Travis wants is to live a normal life. Yeah, and the people in hell want ice water.
A brain injury at the hands of the vicious Titans grants Travis' wish - nothing supernatural can help him. As he manages to recover, he can't remember anything about his previous life. But that tall, dark and brooding bodyguard sure has his blood pumping.
Trusting again and making love work is a tough road. Does Travis Rhoades have what it takes to find the real him?
I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!
This was a case of the story being hotter than the cover... that cover is just... UGH!!! NOT sexy at all... IMHO! ;D
I will admit that I found myself confused a time or three while reading this one... but, *shrugs* such is life! I kept banging my head on my reading device, waiting for Lucian to see a certain something on a certain place on Travis... grrr
Other than the above mentioned, this was a quick, entertaining and fairly action filled story... as always, impatiently waiting to move on with this series! *grin*
4.5 'Loved this one too. I think maybe I was getting a bit over them, but now I'm coming back to the series again I'm loving reconnecting with the characters. Enjoyed the progression of their relationship and really loved the way it all panned out' stars.
I actually liked that Travis wasn't as quick to accept what was happening to him. It felt real. I liked his attitude and the way he acted. I liked that he froze during fights.
I do have to admit though that there's too much backstory sometimes. I already know/remember who the characters are. I don't need to rehash it when it happened in the last book, maybe like 5-10 books ago, but not the previous one.
Overall, I enjoyed Travis and Lucian. Can't wait for more!!!
Although it started kind of slow for me, it eventually picked up and I found it hard to tear myself away from our dear sweet & sultry Lucian Tenebaris and Mr. Travis Rhoades
Sorry there is no book 8 thru 12 would have enjoyed reading them
Sorry there is no book 8 thru 12 would have enjoyed reading them I am sure they would have been as good or better. All the books were good but for some reason I enjoyed this one the best. Found myself not able set it down and reading it all day in addition to be a book were you felt good as you read it and wanting to know more about the two main character Travis and Lucas and what made them tick and why they were like oil and water at first but during the reading they slowly started to change and able to embrace each other and those around them.
Travis and Lucian's story is so not an easy one. This book is definitely recommended as part of the series. Have you ever wanted to screw someone and hate them simultaneously? Lucian wipes his own memory to better guard Travis and Cronus wipes Travis'. The road back and coming into a relationship; EXPLOSIVE!!! I love this book.
This book was off the chain good! I fell in love with Lucian a couple of books back, but it took me a bit of time to get into Travis, but he got to me and I fell for him too. Can't wait for the next book coming down the pike. Should be interesting to say the least!!!
Another great add to the series. These two have been at odds for a few books now so it was great to see them finally get their ending. I wasn't sure I was going to like Lucian at first but once again Sandrine wrote a heartfelt story that make you fall in love with the couple. Can't wait for the next.
This was totally awesome and great I'm glad they worked it out and are together finally I was hoping and wow I can't wait to see what happens next..... Ty Sandrine Gasq-Dion you are outstanding too...
Love love!! This book, I am glad Travis finally embraced who he was meant to be!! Ms.Sandrine , you are one of my one click authors. Keep writing and I keep buying your books.
Absolutely loved this book and the characters. Didn't like Travis in the beginning, but grew to like him. Only thing I'm sad about in this book is that of course there are no more.
In The Hard Rhoade (Book 7 of the 12 Olympians Series) we get better acquainted with Travis Rhoades, the unwilling son of Ares and the Bain of Lucian Tenebris hybrid Vamp/Wolf/Warlock existence. Travis it's mad at the world and takes his frustrations out on everyone around him and refuses to learn to control or even use his gifts.
This book is just further proof of the genius that is Sandrine Gasq-Dion. Her ability to weave all the characters of not only this Series, but from her countless other titles is simply amazing. She had the uncanny ability to focus the book on certain characters all the while weaving the continuing story of the Olympian Children and their fight against the Titans, The Skull Blasters and the Santorno series all relevant and in play.
I really liked the way she shows Travis and Lucian fight for what they both want, and the lengths they are both willing to go through to have what was theirs from the very beginning, each other. Sometimes it takes loosing everything to gain the most. These three Series Sandrine continues to write are all amazing, and with each one I read I think she can't top this one, but then she does by leaps and bounds. I can hardly wait for February when Book 11 of the Santorno series comes or and all the books that will continue to come.
I loved it. Travis and Lucian are hilarious in this book. These two had such strong feelings for each other it was adorable. These two went through a lot. But they admitted their feelings for each other and grew stronger together. I can not wait for the next book. Erin
I should have known better.... I did know better... I swore that I was done with this author. SMH... I just couldn't resist that $.99 price.
Well, all I can say is that at least the info dumps didn't get too bad until almost 50%. This one contained more story line than the last few books that I've read in these series. However, that's about the only positive thing that I can say. Hopefully next time I can resist....
I was really looking forward to Lucian and Travis's story, and I was not disappointed. I loved the storyline which was really sweet and entertaining. And of cause I really loved the characters. I think to get a better understanding of the story and connection with the characters, this series should be read in order. A very enjoyable read.
Damon this was an awesome book. Loved everything about it. Loved we got to see some more of Russlen too. Can't wait for your next book. You rock Sandrine.
What am I going to do until the next one comes out??? This series is awesome, that's 32 books and counting I think, 25 Assassin Shifters and 7 of 12 Olympians.. keep them coming Sandrine
After the teasers released by the author this book was on my radar to purchase for quite some time. All too often this means disappointment as the story is flat. Thankfully Hard Rhoades lives up to my expectations and even managed to slightly change my perception of a secondary character. This story picks up right where Wraith left off the start of a new school term. Travis is still being a stubborn prick, Lucian is still struggling with his vampire half and the Titans and Rogues are just waiting for the moment to attack. The story moves at a quick pace and features a guest appearance by Dr. Jordan Nightblood. I'm certain other fans of the 12 Olympians and The Assassin Shifters will rabidly devour this book and enjoy it just as much as I did. THIS IS NOT A STAND ALONE STORY! If you have not read any of the other books certain aspects and references will not make sense. The story is solid enough to read and enjoy without reading the others, but would lower my rating.
The book inside this glorious cover is another of the Olympians' stories, this time we get Travis and Lucian.
Travis has been fighting his destiny ever since he found out he was the demigod son of Ares, vampire/wolf shifter and Warwick Lucian has been a thorn in this side since he was appointed his guardian.
Interference from Chronos has an unforseen side effect though as Travis loses his memories and then starts to discover a whole load of new feelings about the tall, dark and deadly man who is his permanent shadow.
These books are like crack, I can't stop reading them even though I know it'll be more of the same and only a slight advancement in the overall plot. Still, this is number 7 so we only have 5 more Olympians to pair up with their guardian/soulmates.
This is the seventh book in the 12 Olympians Series. The character are written in such a way that you cant but falling love with them. With all there up and downs. Lucian is a hybrid and the Guardian for Ares son. Lucian is having a hard time with his charge and with the triggers in his mind. Things can change within a moment. Travis doesn't want to accept what the fate has bought into his life. What happens when you lose who you are? Is this Fate telling you have a second chance to make a change in your life? Highly recommend this book and the series. Would recommend you read in order so you can have a full understanding of the characters.
she's done it again! since page one we follow the Olympians along with their guards on a adventure. this one is about sexy hybrid lucian and angry resentful travis. alot of love, anger and forgiveness happen along with the fight of good versus evil. am happy that we got plenty of the others but it didn't take from the main characters. i can't wait for the next couple to be revealed and for the adventures to keep going forward. i highly recommend this series to all my friends
Another one bites the dust...this MM series has become so addictive for me and Lordy do these men lure you in like bait on the end of Travis and Lucian's fishing poles. what I honestly did not expect was to find out that they were in the lab together I was like 'OMG ITS HIM!!' damn these Tenebris brothers are just so old fashioned in speech and sinful between the sheets of course the banter between Lucian and Travis as well as between the other guardians was very enjoyable too
This series (along with the Assassin Shifters) is a definite recommendation I can't wait to read the next book!
I am gutted that we will never know the ending to this and the assassin shifters series. I always thought the last book would be Matty and Kane's story. Miss Gasq-Dion, you was a wonderful storyteller and you drew us in with your tales. The reading world lost something amazing when you passed. I have everyone of your books as they, in my opinion are faultless. I would recommend all these books and start with a Marked Man to enjoy the whole lot and fall in love with all of the characters.
This is a fun exciting hot action packed story with demigods, gods, werewolves and warlock vampire hybrids. Travis is so unhappy because he is not accepting of who he really is. He is running his guardian Lucien crazy with his funky attitude. Sometimes you get what you ask for just not the way you wanted. This is a entertaining and interesting way to spend some time. Enjoy I did.
Someone asked us to pick our favorite book by Sandrine Gasq-Dion. That kinda threw me see, my favorite book by her is the one I'm reading at the moment! I love The Hard Rhoads. The relationship between these two is at times heartbreaking and at the same time endearingly fun. They complete each other, and by doing so make everything better. Not just themselves but all their relationships.
