What I Wore Today

This book for me was more of a view to a 2008 home-fashion world of women from late teens to mid-30s, than of much use in inspiring me in my clothes choices. The pictures are taken outside and inside, in various countries of the world, with seemingly various styles, and with some women appearing more than once. Every woman's picture(s) is accompanied by name, city, country on top of the page, and with a square of information on more details of what she wore and where item came from. Sometimes there's also a quote from the person.
The why this book got 3 stars: the pictures' quality – lighting is quite often poor, not all clothes items can be seen clearly or at all (the way picture is cropped, or how each woman poses). Also the information square's colors are sometimes ill-chosen, making it impossible to read what's in it. This may be partly the book releaser's fault, partly maybe due to the women's lack of lighting ability.
It's interesting, though, to see what each women wear, and how many common things of that time run through everything. The belt tied in the middle, over a shirt (and sometimes over a cardigan too). Colorful tights. Skirts, dresses, sometimes two of them at the same time. The thrifted/'remixed' stuff. Not always remembering where something came from, something being borrowed from a friend/sibling/boyfriend. Sometimes a cat, sometimes a dog, in the picture. There was variety in the outfits, and yet so much started to feel the same, though colors and patterns changed. Maybe this is also due to me not being into this type of outfits? I did get a chance to get some good hints from some….
So, this book is more of a history of what certain type of fashion was once popular, and how good lighting (and surroundings) bring quality to the picture (oftentimes lacking here).

This is really inspirational. Some of the styles are unique but I like that because everyone is different. I always wanted to mix up my clothes but I always thought I would look stupid in other people eyes but seeing this makes me want to try something different this summer. I love that almost all of these clothes are from thrift stores. You can always find something in a thrift store that you have never seen before. I love how these are everyday women showing what they wear. I don't remember seeing anyone from Japan in this book. I don't know if its the book I have but it has two pages of 161.

I actually would've given this only 4.5 stars if I could; I love the outfits in this book, but the way the book was laid out was slightly annoying. The sidebars and quotes often cover up parts of what the person was wearing. In my mind that wasn't a great design choice; the point of books like this is to look at the outfit, the whole thing. That being said the text never covers too much of any photo, and this book is still definitely worth getting for the super cute clothes.

This is a very cool book that's a collage of fashion forward bloggers and what they like to wear. This book has people from all over the world in it. There's a brief description of what each piece is or where it's from. If you've ever read the Japanese magazine/book Fruits, it's just like that. It gives a bit of inspiration to start up the little fashionista in you.

A great book on everyday fashion from around the world. Definitely fun to admire and ridicule.
