About the author

Suraj Venjaramoodu is a National Award winning Indian film actor and impressionist (mimic) who has starred in over 200 Malayalam films.He mainly plays comedy roles, though he has played some character roles as well. He is a three-time recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Comedy Artist. In 2014, Suraj received the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the Malayalam film Perariyathavar.

Suraj Venjaramoodu is a film actor from the Malayalam film industry.

He started his career as a comedy actor. His comic timing and acting skills have been one of the best in the last two decades.

During the latter part of the last decade, he started acting in serious roles. He equally surprised us in those roles and even got a National award for the best actor. He had to face many hardships to reach his current position.

This book will be a good choice to learn more about Suraj Venjaramoodu and his movie career.

For all those including me who had assumed that Suraj's entry to films was a cake walk, the book is an eye opener. Suraj takes the reader through the Kerala of late 80s and 90s. A life filled with hardships but also one with a never ending passion to succeed in life. He lays bare all emotions of a normal human being; Fear of failure, jealousy, despair, ecstasy, all taking turns like waves to the shore as he vividly explains in one of the chapters. Suraj's life is truly inspiring and restores faith in the belief that hard work and dedication will help achieve one's dreams. Loved his writing style as well and not for once found it dragging. Thanks a lot Suraj for this gem!!!

A trip down the memory lane

This book is a short memoir of Suraj. It was inspiring to know about his journey. Would have gladly read a much longer version. Hope he will write more books.

Suraaj Venjaramood typifies the rags to riches (of arc light) success stories in Malayalam and Indian Movie industry. This is a straight from heart autobiography of immensely talented mimic artist, who turned into an acting career and capped his career with National Award for Best actor. The mooring he preciously maintains to his roots, his tireless pursuit for success and sustenance, despite hardships and never say never attitude is inspirational. This is not a celebrity warbling which clogs the market book shelves. This is a must read gem of an autobiography. Hats off to Suraaj, who proves one can succeed and still be the same old simple person as long as you work hard and respect the blood and sweat.

Its a Good Book...

A good book to read, it explains the difficulties faced by Suraj in his life during his journey towards his carrier and life. A good inspirational book.
I like the way he faced the isses. Possibilities and opportunities will open if you have patience. It's recommended for all type of readers.

എഴുതിയ ശൈലി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല. അൽപ്പം കൂടി ഹാസ്യപ്രധാനമായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു പ്രതീക്ഷിചിരുന്നു. സുരാജ്‌ ഇതു വരെ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞതൊക്കെ തന്നെയാണു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നത്‌. കഠിനാദ്ധ്വാനം, പരിശ്രമം, ഇല്ലായ്മയുടെ കാലങ്ങൾ- വായിച്ചിരിക്കാം; നിരാശപ്പെടുത്തില്ല തന്നേ!

Have read autobiographies of most Malayalam actors. This is easily the best. And is a must read.
He details his journey from abject poverty to the heights of success (he is national award winner for best actor).

നല്ലോരു സിനിമ കാണുന്നതുപോലെ ഒരു മടുപ്പും ഇല്ലാതെ കഥ മുഴുവൻ വായിച്ചു. ചിരിപ്പിച്ചും കരയിപ്പിച്ചും പോയ സുരാജിന്റെ കഥ കടലിലെ തിരമാലകൾ പോലെ മനസ്സിൽ ഓളം കൊള്ളിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നത് പറയാതിരിക്കാൻ വയ്യ.
