When I inherited Grandpa’s house, I had no plans to stick around. One night back home in Reckless Falls is more than enough.
But he’s in my way.
Derek Granger. The high school bad boy. The one I spent every night daydreaming about. I thought I knew what to expect with him. He was a misguided kid back then, but now?
What is he hiding?
I don’t care that Derek has piercing eyes and cheekbones that could cut glass. I definitely don’t care about his reputation for a huge… ego. Derek is an arrogant, drunken party boy. I need him gone.
But when he looks at me with those dark eyes, his voice heavy with desire, I can barely manage to whisper, “Stay.”
Derek:
She’s the one who left, not me. Even though I had every reason to go. She ran away and broke her parents’ hearts.
Now, she’s back from her glitzy life and she wants something from me.
Little Miss Priss thinks she’s entitled to everything just because she’s a star. She can bat those pretty eyelashes at me. She can strut around in that curve-hugging dress and those tall boots.
She can throw me against the wall and beg me to f*ck her, hard.
Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.
After five years of writing romance under a penname, Theresa finally decided to own up to how she was spending her all time. Her mother now knows all about the kinds of books she writes. She reacted more positively to it than Theresa expected.
Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her husband, twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.
A pretty heart warming story. Loved the characters. I really like Aria. She was pretty badass. Her attitude suited her career quite well. A little rebellious and mischievous. I didn't know how she was with her ex but her character in this book was pretty great. Derek, on the other hand, were unbelievably sweet and caring. According to the synopsis, I had expected him to be a tiny bit of an asshole but he was a totally kind-heart gentleman. For a reform alcoholic, he transformed into an absolute saint. A totally nice and kind man. I was truly happy to read about Aria and Derek. Their chemistry was nice. Their sexcapades were very fun and sexy. A very enjoyable read.
Until you put yourself in another’s shoes, you just can’t know the life they have lived. That is very apparent in the lives of Derek and Aria. From the outside, they each grew up envying each other or at least believing the other’s life was better. But in truth, they each had struggles that shaped their decisions.
Derek is a computer hacker for hire that has been living in seclusion trying to rectify the guilt he feels for the way he lived his life. Most of his time is spent trying to right a wrong to his once a upon a time best friend. As a recovering alcoholic he’s trying to make amends without anyone knowing what he’s doing. But secrets have a way of coming out and all of this starts to shift when Derek is asked by his landlord, Aria’s grandfather to find Aria.
Aria left home in a cloak of darkness to pursue her music career. Although her music life is going well her personal life is falling apart after an anonymous email arrives giving the proof she needed to know that her long term boyfriend has been cheating on her. Not long after that, a letter from her grandfather’s lawyer arrives giving her a way out of her current situation.
I look forward to reading more of Vivian Lux’s books. This book wasn’t a second chance romance for Derek and Aria, it was a second chance at having a life that they wanted both as individual and as it turned out, as a couple.
This book is about second chances and how coming home and facing your demons, is the thing you actually needed most.
Aria Dolan, left Reckless Falls when she was sixteen to escape her sister Violet's shadow. She tried to figure out who she was besides “Violet's Sister” and so she became “Jane Doe” the rock star. But when she receives an anonymous email of her boyfriend's infidelities and hear about the inheritance her grandfather left her, she heads back home to Reckless Falls. What she expects to be a quick house sale turns into so much more when she faces Derek Granger, her High School crush.
Derek Granger is a recovering alcoholic hermit who lives on Aria's grandfather's property and has been trying to make ammends for his past. When Mr. Dolan asks him to find his grand-daughter, he keeps his promise and sets in motion the things that will bring her home. What he doesn't expect is for her to want to kick him off her property, nor his immediate attraction to her.
What starts as a battle of wills between Derek and Aria, transforms them into the people they want to become. Derek sees Aria as the light in his darkness and Aria sees Derek as the strength she needs to be the person she wants to be. The explosive chemistry between them ignites passion that neither expected but both needed to face life head on.
This was a sweet, sassy and sexy read, with an emotional twist that tugs at you and keeps you enraptured from beginning to end. I cannot wait for the next in the “Reckless Falls” Series.
the book I did read, didn't have this cover?? Weird .. I prefer the cover I did read ... it was like a blue-ish background with a couple on it all cuddling etc. so much better in my humble opinion. I think this is my 1st read of Vivian Lux's ... I am trying to figure that out, I will check Goodreads as well to make sure, I know she was on my TBR list for sure. On kindle unlimited, Derek and Aria are might to be. I love stories like this ... meant to be-s. They are lined up in times of destiny. I guess it is the romantic within me that enjoys in that part. Love the part with all Derek's supporters (would not call them friends, maybe will be friends? his prosthetic friends.) come to his aid with Killian. I love the snowy times, the would be accident (hope that is not too spoiler alert-ty ... those just add to the romantic steamy-ness of the story. Such a great read. Loved it. Must read!! ( ;
I enjoyed Wrecked, this being the first book I have read of Vivan Lux's I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The story of Derek and Aria was fast-paced and really a quick read. Told in dual POV's the dialog and the story arc of the 2 main characters was well done. Ms. Lux does a great job describing the environment these characters are in - so much so that I felt I was there. There are some great secondary characters - including Derek's brother Cole that I also enjoyed. I was a little confused on whether there is a book for Cole it seemed that there is a story for him that I am hoping to go back and find.
All in all, I do recommend Wrecked if you are looking for a quick read.
Aria and Derek were attracted to each other back in high school, but never acted on their attraction for each other. Aria ran away to become a rock star since she could never live up to her parent's expectation to be just like her deceased sister. Derek had parents that had no expectations for him so he drank a lot and caused a car accident that changed his life. They met again after Aria's grandfather dies and slowly start a relationship since both have so much baggage from their past. Good story about forgiving yourself for past transgressions and healing. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I'm really loving Reckless Falls, the strength and loyalty of the community. Derek is definitely one of the good ones. Even with his hermit ways he is doing what he feels needs to be done. I like Aria, how she finally found her inner strength to get out of a bad situation. Their story is a bit bumpy, very steamy and sweet. A go to read from a must read author and I'm looking forward to more for Reckless Falls!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Bad boy mets reluctant rock-star - I found it hard to get into this story. I found Aria Jane grating at times - too much bad language with petulant, bratty behaviour. I really liked Derek, flaws and all, but couldn't really see the attraction between them. I liked the setting of Reckless Falls a fictions town and the snow rescue. There were some typos scattered throughout. The story finishes at 50% mark. For me it was just a little slow moving.
Not for me. This is my first Vivian Lux book and it isn't my favorite book. Derek doesn't seem to grow up or want to grow up. Aria is also going through a lot but also seems more stable and mother like than anything else. I don't know, I just couldn't get into it. I voluntarily read for Hidden Gems for my honest review.
Wrecked by Vivian Lux “I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.”…I really enjoyed this book. There are a few unexpected twists to the plot and the book is an enjoyable light easy read.
**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Absolutely loved this book! Aria Jane Dolan is from the small town of Reckless Falls but around the world she's aka rock goddess Jane Doe. Seven years later after leaving & not looking back, she's summoned back to her small backwater hometown in order to claim her inheritance from the death of her grandfather. Thinking that she'll be able to not only escape her cheating boyfriend & bandmate, Killian, she right away attempts to sell the estate in order to try & start a new. Only little does she know that not only is there a tenant living upon her newly acquired inheritance in the form of her high school crush, Derek Granger but her parents are actually the owners of the land while she got the main house. Derek has become a recluse in Reckless Falls after an accident was caused bc of his alcoholism. Now 3 yrs sober, he secluded himself w/ Mr. Dolan taking care of all the maintenance of the estate in exchange for rent free living in the carriage house. Derek is also directly responsible for Aria's reappearance at the request of Mr. Dolan & for opening her eyes to what she had w/ Killian albeit anonymously. Derek is still atoning for his actions through his anonymous work w/ the hospital in creating prosthetics for free. Coming home, Aria realizes that she's lost n trying to refind herself since growing up she always felt that she lived in the shadow of her dead sister in the eyes of her parents. Soon feelings b/w Derek & Aria start to come to light the more they encounter each other on the property. Two lost souls come together & unite to help the other see what's been missing in their lives but of course sometimes the past comes back to haunt. Loved everything about this book, especially the last chapter & epilogue. Would most definitely recommend & can't wait to see more from Reckless Falls!
Read January 7th 2017 Derek is a recovering alcoholic, he lives on the Dolan family's estate, he's been hiding out in a cottage there for some time, the old man who owns the land, knows that Derek is into hacking asks him to find his granddaughter Aria Jane, shes been gone for seven years, she ran away joined a band, met and older man, never to return to Reckless Falls. Derek finds her, a few days later Mr. Dolan passes away, now Aria Jane or Jane Doe as she goes by is coming home, her grandfather has left her the house and Derek is now her tenant, these two have a lot of catching up to do since high school, but secrets, the past, and guilt are going to be big hurdles to cross. I love Vivian Lux writing style! This one was a sweet, easy, sexy read, with an emotional twist that I really enjoyed! Look forward to reading the next in Reckless Falls Series! I voluntarily read an advance reader's copy of this book
3 1/2* Derek was asked to find mr dolans granddaughter only to find she's a star of wrecked little aria all grown up. However Derek doesn't like what he finds. Aria's ex is controlling & has all her money despite cheating on her! They are both hiding from their past, can they overcome it? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Nice story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This was a great romance. I loved Aria. She was tough and didn't put up with anything anyone threw at her. I was pulled in from the first page and couldn't put this down. I definitely recommend this book.
Edit: I did in fact receive an unedited version, so my concerns with the continuity errors was apparently fixed, so please disregard that portion below. I have also updated my rating based on the corrections.
I liked "Wrecked", but I'm wondering if I read a different version from other reviewers. There were a few things I had a hard time overlooking. I dunno, maybe I'm super anal or something.
The characters are certainly unique and it's sort of a unique situation. Aria, a famous rock star, runs to her hometown after discovering her boyfriend/band mate has been cheating on her. Her grandfather passed away, leaving her his house. When she returns home, her crush from high school, Derek, is living on the property. Their relationship starts out a bit angsty and Aria and Derek are both wary of the other, but once they come together it gets pretty hot.
If you're wondering why I am giving this three rather than four or five stars, I'll have to spoil it some, so...
****SPOILERS**** The editor/proofreader dropped the ball on this one. Spelling mistakes and incorrect word usage aside (and there are quite a few), there was a big discrepancy that essentially affected the entire reason for the book. At the 21% mark on my kindle, Aria has some verbal diarrhea of the mouth and discloses to Derek how some anonymous email was sent to her, told her the password for her boyfriend's phone, and that's how she discovered he was cheating. Ok, that totally makes sense, nothing wrong with it. UNTIL, around the 51% point. Aria and Derek are messing around outside near the waterfalls, things are getting hot and heavy, bow chicka wow wow time, and then Derek stops. Why, you may ask? Well, he wants to stop Aria from making a mistake by hooking up with him because he's a "piece of" poop (edited to protect the eyes of the innocent. She doesn't understand what he's getting at until he mentions the email. Then Aria proceeds to freak out wondering how he knew about the anonymous email that disclosed Killian's cheating. Wait, what? Didn't she tell him about the email herself? Well, apparently not, because she blows a gasket that he "stalked" and creeped on her. Then it is casually mentioned how Killian was so sure of himself that he would never get caught that he didn't even put a passcode on his phone. Now, double what? The email apparently gave her the passcode!!!! Come on, people, get it together. Which is it? So, that's my main concern with the book. The entire reason for Aria getting mad at Derek and pushing him away, the main conflict of the story, wouldn't have existed earlier in the book. That's too big of a miss for me to ignore. Also, I hated Aria when she called the cops on Derek. And then he turns around and forgives her in just minutes. She was too quick to act irrationally and jump to conclusions and I was hoping that by that point in the book she would've matured and simmered down a bit. I would've appreciated some more growth from her and better humility.
Despite my concerns, the book was quite enjoyable and I intend on giving the author another chance.
Aria is a woman who has lived a tough life, for one her sister passed away before she was ever born or thought of and has lived in her dead sisters footsteps until the day she left home and never looked back. Being in a relationship with her boyfriend and in the same band as him she thought all was going well, until she got a email. Derek is a man who has lived some horrible regrets in his life for the way he used to be while growing up. Aria and Derek will first find each other irritating but in the end it will be the both of them working together to get things right in their lives.
What I enjoyed most about Wrecked is watching two people who have some big regrets in life come together and try to make emends with their lives to get back to being somewhat normal, not hiding away and finally standing up for what they believe in. Derek finding that not everyone hates him as he feels they do, and Aria trying to find that peace with her family and friends she left all them years ago. Watching Derek and Aria connect with each other like they have never connected with anyone else before.
This book is great. This book is about a woman who didnt want to continue the life in the footsteps of her deceased sister always being looked at like she was second best at that, her finding a life with a man who didnt deserve her and a band that was her way of life until one day it wasnt, Derek a man who used to be a drunk and made lots of bad mistakes who now hides away to try to fix some of the wrongs by helping others without any recognition, two people who come together and start to fall for each other and help each other get better. If you like stories like this, then Wrecked is a must!!
Once you start reading Wrecked, you will recognize Jane Doe aka Aria Dolan from True. Aria's grandfather has asked Derek Granger to find her, which he does using his hacking skills. You see, Aria left home 7 years ago, running away from her family and living in her dead sisters shadow. She runs into Killian, he helps her with her band and is supposed to be in love with her but is just using her. Derek finds this out, sends an anonymous email letting her know about his mistresses. Right after, she gets an email from her grandfather's lawyer, saying he passed away and left her his house. Derek Granger has his own demons. He attended the same high school as Aria but was an alcoholic by that time. He was drinking one night and there was a wreck, which severely injured his best friend Jesse, he lost a leg and Derek blames himself. He quit drinking and attended AA meetings and has been living in the carriage house of Mr. Dolan's property. Now that brings us to the heart of the story. When Aria and Derek come face to face with each other, getting a second chance at life in their small town. Breaking down their barriers, learning to trust each other and basically falling in love and then finding the forgiveness of all the family and friends. Oh and we can't forget about their smoking hot sex scenes. Wrecked has as much action and drama as Vivian's other books. There's also a lot of laughter at their conversations and yes, you do get your HEA!! I was given an arc of this book for and honest review and received no other compensation. Love this book and can't wait to see who the next one is about.
I've never been disappointed with one of Vivian Lux's books! Wrecked kicks off a new series set in Reckless Falls, but we've briefly met both characters before in previous books: Aria Jane Dolan is Jane Doe, the guest singer Piper invited to come do a song with Ruthless in True. And Derek is the recluse brother of Cole, who we met in the short story that was part of the Bad Boys Under The Mistletoe anthology.
Rockstar Jane Doe, aka Aria, returns to her tiny hometown after her grandfather's dies and leaves her part of his estate. Living in the carriage house is the guy she had a crush on back in high school, recovering alcoholic Derek. With her life in shambles, Aria wants to sell the house and get out of Reckless Falls as fast as she can. But because this story has a HEA, that isn't what happens!
What I really liked about these characters was Aria's sass and attitude, but at the same time having a vulnerable side. And Derek -- who has been nicknamed Wreck by the other folks in town after he made a bit of a mess of his own life and one other person's -- was living in a self-imposed prison, doing self-imposed penance to make up for the mistakes of his past. Together, Aria and Derek learn to let go, forgive, repent and move forward. My only complaint was that they jumped to doing the deed a bit too fast. I would have liked to have seen more wooing on Derek's part.
Overall, Wrecked was a pretty darn good story of unrequited love that turns into a forever. And the title couldn't be more perfect, because both of their lives are pretty wrecked when Aria and Derek meet!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
This is my first Vivian Lux read and I can say it will not be my last. I devoured this book in 1 sitting. I was engrossed from page one all the way to the end.
Its about second chances and facing your past that you try so hard to forget.
Aria AKA Jane Doe left Reckless falls when she was younger. Leaving on not the best of terms with family. She became Jane Doe lead singer to the band Wrecked. Now shes back in Reckless Falls for an inheritance left by her grandfather. But she gets more than she bargained for with her high school crush Derek living on her grandfathers land.
Derek being a recovering alcoholic and a tragic event a few years back is basically a hermit. Only leaving when absolutely necessary. Hes trying to make amends for his past without anyone knowing. Aria's grandfather Mr. Dolan asks Derek to find his granddaughter, which he does, but when she finally comes home hes a little shocked to find out she wants him off the property.
Aria and Derek start off not liking one another.. but can they transform that hatred into something more? This read is sweet and sexy, with a sassy little mouth from Aria. Ready to see what comes next for Reckless Falls.
No, no y no. Aburrido como la mierda. Estúpido, infantil. Insta-love.
Talk about second chances. Both Aria and Derek get their second chance at life and love in this amazing book. Derek is a recovering alcoholic that's secluded himself to a carriage house owned by Aria's grandfather. When he's asked to find Aria, he never expected to find out that her lover/manager has been cheating her for a while. After an anonymous email that Killian was cheating on her and then a later email stating that her grandfather had left her his house, Aria takes off for home and hopes to be able to start over. She never expected Derek to be the one that helps her get her life started over again. After some rough times, they finally click, but there's still things that he's hiding from her. After a long talk, they both decide to try to work on restarting their lives and getting to a place where they can forgive themselves for their pasts. I'm thankful to the author for sharing this wonderful story and I'm happy I voluntarily received a advanced reader copy of this book.
I received this ARC book free in exchange for a voluntary honest review. Great read, wonderful to find out a little bit more about Jane Doe's past. Jane or Aria as she is known from her past, is running. Running away from her past, running away from a prior relationship and running away from herself. But the facts about running away is that you really can't run away. Your past will come back to you and if you let it it will continue to haunt you. Derek is trying to atone for the past. Growing up in a alcohol daze, a request for assistance left a friend injured permanently. He has a secret and that secret is his hope for atonement but will he come out from the hiding place he has found in his shame? They once knew each other even if they do not remember. But both must find each other again to move on into the future.
When Derek Granger is asked to find his landlord's missing granddaughter, Aria Jane, he takes that task to heart and goes further than necessary. Aria Jane, aka Jane Doe, of the band Wrecked left Reckless Falls behind seven years ago when she left for a concert and never came back. After some emails shake her life she finds herself back in Reckless Falls and inheriting her grandfather's house and the tenant she didn't know was there, Derek Granger. After his own life fell apart he found himself hiding and that lead him to her grandfather's carriage house, but now with Aria Jane back he finds he doesn't want to keep hiding. Both have so much baggage to unload, but the sparks between them fly. I loved the latest from Vivian Lux! Aria Jane and Derek are perfect for each other, both broken in ways the other can make them stronger. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Lost souls. They had no idea they were so lost until they found each other again. Derek is a recluse that has been punishing himself for past crimes. He repents in secret never letting on that he has been doing everything to help those in need. Aria is a pop star runaway. She didn't even know she wanted n to start a new until she found out her boyfriend had been cheating for years and wasn't concerned how she felt about it. These two lost souls come back together and make things better for each other. I lived how even though they were in the same high school, they never really talked but that didn't stop the crush from growing. And even better that they made it work years later. This story was sweet. I started the book hoping the characters would get together in the end. Great work. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Derek was the class party boy, the one that always supplied the alcohol. That is until years later a car wreck changes his life. He quits drinking and retreats to a rented cabin to atone for his sins. Aria, (Jane Doe) ran away at 16, a teenager that felt she couldn't live up to the standards set by her deceased sister. She reinvents herself as the member of a band. Her grandfather would bring them together at his death. They would come face to face with their feelings, once high school crushes that evolved into true love. This book shows that you can go home again, and that sometimes doing so is what you need to heal. Aria and Derek slowly heal each other as well as the relationships around them. There are going to be more books in this series and I will be adding the to my "series wants" list.
"One of the hardest decisions you'll ever face in life is deciding if to give up or give it one more try."
I love how passionately sentimental and tender, Vivian Lux wrote this story. It also has some sweetness to it. Wrecked is absolutely sexy and charming! I couldn't put it down and you won't be able to either!
Aria and Derek have both been through so much and it's clear as day when they meet that they will need each other... Even tho they don't seem to recognize it that way at first.
"Life Always offers us a second chance... It's called TOMORROW."
You don't want to miss ride this couple will take you on. They will be each others redemption. They'll be their second chance...
"The best gift in life is a second chance."

I voluntarly read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Derek's character absolutely broke my heart, in ways I could understand his recluse but in others it was just so so sad, I guess he didnt realize that he could be forgiven. Aria (Jane Doe) her story is very sad as well, but I felt that hers was worse during the 7 years she was gone from home then what she lived with before she left, yes her home life was sad but if she had just talked to her mom and dad maybe things would have been different. I dont want to give anything away but this book was so good, I could not put it down, I just kept reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen. and wow it was just so good. I highly recommend this book!!
Awesome second chance romance, for both Aria and Derek. Complex story line, with Derek being asked to find Aria. He finds her, and despite the darkness in his life, he is drawn to her. Aria is trying to start over. When she encounters Derek, she didn't think he'd be the one for her. They both have remnants of their past that come up, but are they ready to fight for their new lives together? I loved the fact that they communicated with each other. Often there is misunderstandings that both sides are too proud to open up a dialogue about, but not so with Derek and Aria. So worth it to get to the other side with them and see how it all ends. I voluntarily received an advanced reader copy of this book.
