For three long years, Violet was held captive, beaten, and starved. The only thing that kept her going during the last few months was the innocent life growing inside her. When a neighboring pack swoops in and rescues her, she has to decide if she’s going to live in fear or risk her body—and her heart—to claim her true mate.
The instant Joss caught the scent of the woman in the dilapidated shed on the outskirts of the Mahehkan lands he’d known she was his mate. Now she’s in his home, and her body is healing. But it takes a lot more than disappearing cuts and bruises to repair the damage done to her. He’s determined to do whatever it takes to make her whole again—even if it means losing her in the end.
The writing, characters, sex, and plot are all really good in this one except for one thing. The story starts where the last one ends which Violet being recovered from a shed having been raped and tortured for three years. This story starts three days after her recovery. Her mate - Joss - is tending her which is lovely and sweet. But within a week of being recovered, Adams has Violet wanting to have sex with Joss. This is not believable. I read the book, love the story line but it would have been better to have time pass and the sex come later - as in at least let some time pass not just a week.
The story of Joss and Violet. The big question here is Can Joss be patient enough to win his mates trust and love. Can violet look past her past to a new life filled with love? This is their story, and the road they take to be with each other.Dates mates and H E A
I loved that Joss and Violet didn't take too long to be together even though she was pregnant, which was a total surprise. Joss was such a good man and he never strayed from his mate and her babies, that was another surprise. Good triumphs over evil.
Reading out of order, but this one is so sweet. Abuse, recovery, trust, this book hits all the marks. Joss is dream that any women would fight to keep. The writing is well done and every page is worth reading. Definitely a keeper.
Read in the SHIFTERS IN THE SNOW – BUNDLE OF JOY anthology. I have read other books by this author. A very sad story with a good outcome but I am not sure I like this shifter world. Seems especially harsh. I think I prefer more modern times.
This was presented as a stand alone in a collection of short stories, but it definitely isn't. I didn't read the rest of the series and this story wasn't good enough to consider reading more.
Violet and Joss' story was so full of hurt and rage that I wasn't sure they would ever get to their happily ever after. But Joss was oersistent in showing Violet that the men of the Komoro pack were different( including him) then the ones from the oack she had been rescued from, and when the shifter who abused her came to take her back , Joss showed her that he would protect her and the baby from anything and anyone that tried to hurt them !! Sweet, hot , sexy ( at times) story of a she wolf who has to learn to trust again, especially since she has found her true mate and has a baby on the way. 4⭐'s and i love the little extra surprise at the end !! I first read this story in the anthology : Shifters in the Snow . I received a gifted copy of both books and have voluntarily read and written honest and unbiased reviews for both of them .
