The ending sucks. And its not a HEA ending. And it's a cliffhanger. Everything I do not like, but for some reason I could not stop reading it, thus the four star rating. I'm not really sure I can recommend this book, but I will definitely be reading the next one... And hopefully I won't want to throw my phone against the wall when the author does something stupid.
Whew……OMG…….NOOOOOOO…….Those are just a few words that came out of my mouth loudly as I was reading this book. (yes my family thought I had lost my mind while reading this, because I am usually very quiet when I read) There is just no way for me to give you a brief summary/review for this story. There are so many important characters, so many different story plots and the twists and turns you are taken on, I felt dizzy and lost during the first half of the book. So I will do my best to give you the highlights without spoiling any of the surprises, because trust me, you will want to feel the flood of emotions just as I did.
I will start out with my negative thought about this, only because I feel it is important that you the reader are aware of it. In the first half of this book, each chapter jumps to a different character and their story. I was lost a lot of times and had to try to remember who was who and there are points it doesn’t even seem that this particular chapter belongs in this book because it isn’t connected to Brynn. Now you must remember, I hadn’t read the first book, so I was going in fresh with this one. Be patient dear readers and go through the maze because by the second half of the book you realize that you were just witness to the most delicate pieces of circumstances that weaved itself into one OUTSTANDING story.
This is the second book in a series, there had better be a third one after this ending or I might have to hunt the author down. I didn’t even realize there was a first book, the author did a great job of letting us know enough about Brynn’s past that we didn’t need to read book one to catch up, BUT she also left enough out that if you are like me, I am heading to Amazon as soon as I finish this review to get it because I need MORE.
This book starts out that Brynn and Adam are expecting their first child. Brynn’s adoptive parents are dead but the trauma and nightmares of her childhood are anything but dead. What starts out as a happy day suddenly turns when a knock on the door comes and there stands Brynn’s birth mom. From that point on this story takes a tilt a whirl spin. We watch Brynn and Adam have to make choices that no parent should have to make. We watch as they fall apart not only as couple but as individuals too. We get to see how Ellie, Brynn’s birth mom became who she is today and Brynn finds the answers to her questions of why she was abandoned.
Sounds simple right? OH NO……that little summary right there is just the cherry on top of what is underneath it all. People are killed to protect secrets, some don’t die and show up later on in the story. Family member who never met find out they are friends and lovers are found and lost in a matter of pages. Main characters finally get what they deserve while others are still suffering from others choices. Brynn started out with husband, best friend and dog, by the end of the book, she had a whole new life. It may not be the life I wanted for her, I felt she deserved more, but by the last page I am not even sure what she has any more. I would love one character and then the author would show us the raw truth of human behavior and I would end up hating that person, only to find a few chapters later, I would have made the same choice if I had been in their shoes.
This whole book is about choices, forgiveness, acceptance, loss, grief, circumstances, judgments, death, life. I don’t think there was a single emotion or topic that this author didn’t cover in this book. I was mentally exhausted, yet demanding more by the time I finished it. I woke up this morning and it was the first thing on my mind. I sobbed in the last chapter and then became angry and then I was so happy for Brynn, it was time her dream came true. But then back to sobbing because once again life and others choices took her dreams away. Finally I went to being scared out of my mind and hopeful at the last sentence. THAT WAS MY EMOTIONS FROM JUST ONE CHAPTER.
To see the one dream Brynn had come true and she wasn’t even able to know about it, broke my heart. This was seriously one of the most intense reads I have ever had in my hands. I don’t see where I will ever forget it and to think it started out so confusing and I wondered if I could even figure it out enough to finish it. I cherish the fact that this author was so brilliant I still don’t know at what point the story just fell together for me. I was to lost in the characters and plot to realize, I wasn’t in the maze any more.
I finished the last line of the book, gasped, had to regulate my breathing and told my husband I am never going to be able to sleep again now. BUY this book……..I know I have said it before but this is a one of a kind book. This author is BRILLIANT…..I would of NEVER have been able to predict the next move in this book, I was seriously along for the ride, sobbing, screaming, begging and trying to breathe.
To say that Brynn "Eva" has had a hard life is an understatement. Happily ever after doesn't seem to be in the cards for her. Just as Brynn is starting to enjoy a peaceful and happy existence trouble appears in the form of her birth mother, Ellie.
Life is spiraling out of control and the tragedies and pain continue. Adam breaks his promises and Brynn is more alone than she's ever been.
Can Brynn ever find true happiness? Can she survive the pain this life has in store for her? When is enough, enough?
Jennifer Sivec sucked me into this series and her grip is strong. Just when you think things can't possibly get worse they do. This series will stick with you long after the last page. I highly recommend the Eva series to anyone looking for an engrossing, gripping and suspenseful read.
In Losing Eva, author Jennifer Sivec weaves a haunting dark sequel to Leaving Eva, that engages the reader to follow the continuation of the tragic life story of Eva/Brynn. This heart wrenching story picks up Eva/Brynn and Adam's story as they try to build their life as a married couple. Just when you think everything will go their way, Eva/ Brynn is once again forced to face the demons of her traumatic past, while both have to find a way to deal with a heartbreaking tragedy before it destroys their marriage.
Losing Eva is not an easy story to read, it is the kind of dark story that draws the reader in and takes them on an roller coaster ride where they will experience the full gamut of emotions. You can't help but feel empathy for Eva/Brynn and Adam as their story unfolds, they go through so many challenges in their marriage, the reader will find themselves praying that Eva/Brynn and Adam will find peace within themselves, and hoping that the depths of their love will be enough to help them overcome their pain in order for their fragile marriage to survive.
The author weaves a well written and compelling story that intertwines the issues of abandonment, adoption, addiction, alcoholism, drug abuse, emotional and physical abuse (domestic and child abuse), self-mutilation (self abuse), friendship, dysfunctional family dynamic, overcoming past demons, forgiveness, love, and survival.
Losing Eva is a complex and multi-layered story that will tug at the heart strings and stir the soul as it explores the depths of the human spirit's ability to endure and survive. It is a riveting story that will easily captivate the reader's attention and make them become emotionally invested. It is a deeply moving story that will make you hold your breath at the traumatic twists and turns that Eva/Brynn and Adam endure, while the cliffhanger ending will leave you wanting more!
Losing Eva is the second book in The Eva Series.

Wow is the first word that comes to my mind now that I finished Losing Eva.
I’m not gonna lie..Most of the book was hard to read, because we are all human and don’t know how much we can take. I feel like Brynn’s life was cursed for some reason. She was so full of life. Yet tragedy came looking for her. She kept losing people she loved. She kept feeling betrayed by people she loved. She had so much love to give but I feel that she hasn’t had the chance to give it, because fate kept stealing them away.
I was so sad and frustrated while reading the whole book. People who didn’t deserve bad things had all the terrible things coming to them. I just believe that so many people in this book were hurt and devastated with no reason. Lives were destroyed by selfish people, who made awful decisions and never gave a damn about how those would affect the others.
To be honest, all this sadness has left me reeling. I kept thinking how in God’s name I would be able to articulate any sane sentence that actually made sense for my review. Reviews are meant to reflect the book to the reader’s eyes. But what happens when the story is so overwhelming when you don’t even know yourself where you’re standing?
The last 2 pages gave me my answer. Hope. And Unconditional Love. That’s what Losing Eva is all about. When you love someone more than life itself, you NEVER give up. You NEVER let them go. You NEVER abandon them. And that’s what gave me the strength and the sanity I needed to write this review, despite the fact that I am in tears right now. This incredibly pure message.
I would like to finish my review with this.
I read a post about Losing Eva written by the author Jennifer Sivec. (You can find it here : http://jennifersivec.wordpress.com/20... just stuck with me.. “ I feel that it’s not just My book. It’s Our book..”
Brynn is a victim of abuse, abandonment, and twisted luck. She has had a hard time giving and receiving love. The one constant is Adam. Her high school sweetheart and the only man she has ever loved. Brynn finally agrees to start a family with Adam. Everything seems to ne going well until they lose there baby shortly after her birth. Adam goes to a dark place and is unable to get over the loss. Instead of consoling each other they do the opposite. Brynn decides to go at it alone. But will her tragic circumstances lead her to the peace she's always dreamed of?
I have to point out that we learn that Brynn circumstances not only affected her, but also many other people lives in the book. We meet characters new and old. Ellie's choice to abandon her young daughter started a chain reaction of events that caused so much pain for so many people.
I really liked Adam. He definitely was the one who Brynn truly belonged with. Their love was tarnished, but also never ending. The choices that were made really affected me. It was actually hard for me to read at times. I just couldn't imagine feeling so much pain. At the same time Brynn has to be one of the strongest women out there. Her strength to keep on going after her life kept serving her blow after blow was inspirational.
This book really reached down into my soul. I just wish I was a little more prepared. I could of used a box of tissues and a shoulder to cry on. That would of worked for me. With that said this is a book that changes you. I want to be a better person after reading it. I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to read Eva's story. This is a must read from me. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Well I thought reading Leaving Eva was hard this book was so much harder. The heartache that is felt in this book brought tears to my eyes more then one time. I mean omg how much can one person take until they just want to give up. That is what I felt when reading the book. Thankfully the author continued the story where it left of from the previous book, and there are answer’s for things that was just forgotten about in the first book. This book had a lot more surprises then I was expecting there would be. After all the heartache from book one I thought that this story would be more on the full romance side but man was I sadly mistaken. Drama, heartache, feelings that this book will give you is overwhelming. But the story flowed very good and keeps you intrigued the whole time so you get so lost in the book that when the ending comes you are like “ no I need more, I need to know what happens.” The ending has you biting your nails and then when you read the epilogue you will be hoping that she will continue the story with a third book. You really get to know the characters more in this book then you did before. But that is what is so great cause you want to know more about them. This author knows how to suck the reader in and keep them interested in the book. If you enjoyed Leaving Eva then you will defiatally fall in love with Losing Eva. I give this book 4 1/5 stars. Thank you Jennifer Sivec for writing such an awesome book and looking forward to see what else comes out of that head of yours.
Losing Eva was such an emotional and touching story. The writing was great and the author did a great job with the story development. This wasn't an easy book to read. There were so many sad scenes that made me realize that everything in this world isn't what I imagined. There are cruel people out there and just because you don't know them, doesn't mean they don't exist.
The story was really intriguing and the author did a great job of keeping me on edge and describing the characters' feelings.I felt sad and desperate while reading Losing Eva.It wasn't easy not to.The characters went through so many things and the problems they faced weren't easy to overcome and forget. They were always there,a constant reminder of what happened.
I have to admit that the ending took me by surprise.I didn't expect that horrible and heart breaking twist. It was depressing and sad.The main character went through so many things and then...it was over.Just like that. But in a way,I think she found the peace that in my opinion was missing from her life.
The author's writing really drew me in because I was used to reading books told from both the characters perspectives. This was a nice and refreshing change for me.This wasn't a happily ever after story. It was heartbreaking and sad and all those things I mentioned already. But it was totally worth reading!

REVIEW
Brynn < Eva> is trying to move on with life. She and Adam are happy and expecting a baby. But one morning Brynn opens the door and has the shock of her life. Next thing she knows Brynn is waking up in the hospital. At first all is good and the baby is fine but then all hell breaks lose. Adam can't seem to get Brynn's mother Ellie to get out of the hospital he wants her no where near Brynn but Ellie is determined to set things right with the daughter she abandoned all those years ago. The big question is. Can Eva/Brynn accept her mother Ellie now in her life? What will become of Adam and Brynn? Can they survive all that is thrown there way this time?
This story is just like book 1 by this author. Very deep, emotional and keeps you reading til you finally finish. It may not be for all especially those who may have been in this lifestyle of abuse. But the story is eye opening in so many ways. Truly enjoyed this book and I cannot believe the CLIFF HANGER in this book oh my gosh I sure hope the next book is right around the corner.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review. Jennifer Sivec
I don't know where to begin....like book one, this book is written from a narrators POV. This series is just so sad and I kind of think that Brynn/Eva was a serial killer in a previous life because it seems as though she is being punished for something horrific.
This story picks up where book one ended. It started so hopeful and appeared that Brynn's life was finally going to stop reprimanding her for unknown crimes, but that was not to be the case. I can't really go into the story because there isn't a way of summarizing it in a way would not ruin the story.
All I can really say is that this book was heartbreaking in so many ways. Every time things started to go well for Brynn, life threw a curveball. It is full of twists and turns and is almost impossible to put down. The end of the last chapter was sad and the epilogue had my mouth hanging open. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book.
Losing Eva is the follow up to Leaving Eva, it's a fast flowing book from the start that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, Brynn and Adam are moving on from past events and are expecting a baby. Everything in there world is perfect until Brynns past turns up on the doorstep, Elli ( Brynns mother) is determined to make amends with the daughter she abandoned. That's when the bottom falls out of Brynn and Adams world and spirals out of control. The author does a fab job of reeling you in and making you feel everything the characters are. At times this story was hard to read, especially the past events that lead up to Brynn's abandonment by her parents. The chain reaction of this act effects many other lives that we meet in this book. The ending... OMG!!! I did not see that coming, it leaves you in a state of shock! Hopefully there will be another book in this series

God this was such an emotional and heartbreaking story. The author's writing is amazing and you really feel everything you read. This was definitely not an easy book to read. There are some really mean people in this world and this book made me realize that the world is not perfect, even though I wish it was. I was drawn in from the beginning and just couldn't put it down, I was emotionally drained by the end. These characters went through alot and overcame some things, but things from the past were always there in the background. The ending took me by surprise, I wasn't expecting it at all. I honestly believe the main character found some kind of peace by the end of the book. This was heartbreaking and sad, but so totally worth reading. I recommend this for everyone to read.
losing Eva was the second story the Eva Series. personally I didn't love this book as much as I loved book 1. but all in all it was still was a good and well written book. Eva had a hard life growing up. She was abused and mentally it broke her. But it takes a toll on her marriage. Adam and Eva are meant to be but destiny may have other plans for them. Through the whole book you will be sad and heart broken for this couple and would want nothing but the very best for them.
Whew, if you are looking for a light and easy read then Losing Eva is not the book for you. It simply isn’t. Jennifer Sivec takes on the heavy subject of abuse and it took me on quite an emotional ride. I didn’t have the warm, happy-go-lucky feeling but I truly believe this is a story that is worth reading. Sivec does an excellent job of developing the story and I look forward to reading more from her!

Losing Eva is the follow up to Leaving Eva. It is such an emotional roller coaster. From the very beginning I was in tears. Jennifer Sivec was really able to make me feel every emotion that her characters were experiencing. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is in the mood for a very heavy read that will stick with you for a very long time.
This story I knew I has to read after the first. I'm in awe over the emotions this story makes me feel. Reading the changes that Brynn makes in her life and reading the strong women she becomes was quite a rollercoaster. I was pulled into the story. Brynn and Adam - wow their history, their pain, their loss, their emotions. The ending is not what I was expecting and left me wanting more. I loved this book and cant wait to read the next book Any book that can stir emotions inside me is definitely a 5 star everytime.
Wow!! This book amazed me. For a second time now Jennifer Sivec has brought out every single emotion in me. I cringed, I laughed, I shook my head in disbelief and I cried. I cried a lot. Such a sad story but you cannot stop reading as you want there to so desperately be a happy ending for Brynn/Eva as well as Amy, Jane, Noah, Kelly and even Adam. You feel for all the characters in the book and that's what makes this book so amazing.
I don't know why I waited so long to read this series! The whole book is events that weave into one another. At times I was reading and I would get a little confused on who I was reading through cause it jumped around alot but I came to find I liked how it was written, there's no random words to just take up space. The story was great. I love ALL of the characters!! The ending is definitley a cliffhanger and I cant wait to find out what happens!

What a superb follow-up to Leaving Eva, I read the book in one sitting. When we left off in the first book, at a key point in her pregnancy Brynn (born Eva) opens the door to find her birth mother Ellie. Brynn is strong and doesn't want Ellie in her life. She is back with Adam and she just wants to make a proper life for him and their baby. But perhaps a happy ever after isn't in store for Brynn. This was such a fabulous read, I cannot recommend it enough!
Wow what an amazing second book in this series. Ms. Sivec sure know how to pull on our heart strings and not let go till the very last page. This book is full of survival, loss, heartache, finding each other and reuniting family. I can't not wait to get my hands on the final book in the series.
* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *
This is the second book in the series and you should read the first one before reading this one as it is a continuation of events that have already occurred. The author does an amazing job of bridging the gap between the books so that the reader never feels like they stopped book 1 and moved on to book 2. The reader is hooked right from the very start and again is never fully "unhooked" from the characters, the drama, the heartbreak or the joy that the author brings to this book.
Brynn is still reeling from the idea that she could and did for a time lose Adam, the love of her life since age 15....when she is hit with another gut-wrenching situation. The reader laughs, cries and yells right along with Brynn, Adam, Noah, Nick and Ellie - while calmly plotting the demise of several of the characters that they once considered "perfect". There were times throughout the book that as the reader I wanted to re-write the parts that were hard to read or not what I wanted to read but I figured the author knew what she was doing and that this was meant to happen.
The reader runs the entire gamut of emotions throughout this story and the reader is loath to even want to take a break from it. The author was able to take the reader straight into the pages of her story and at times I had to remind myself that this was the author's second book, not her 30th - she writes with a skill that is right up there with the top writers of today. The story flows quickly, but with little regard to what the reader wants to happen. The author takes us on a twisting, turning, roller coaster of emotions and never lets them go - you will think about this book long after you have finished reading it!
The ending.....after I picked my jaw up off of the floor due to this ending, I was still in a state of shock and disbelief for days....yep...it's that intense, heartbreaking and unbelievable...but it works. Make sure you add this one and the first one to your TBR list - you won't be sorry!!

You definitely have to read Leaving Eva first as the early years of Brynns life are important. You need the knowledge to understand her decisions. All through the book I wanted Brynn to get the happy ending she wanted. To meet her birth mother and have the life she wanted. She does eeventually meet het her but it's not the fairytale she hoped for. Events in her own life make for a bumpy ride and eventually she has to make a tough decision. Keep fighting or walk away in the hope of finding some happiness. A surprising turn of events looks like Brynn may eventually find peace... An unexpected cliffhanger will leave you anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
Losing Eva by Jennifer Sivec is a very dark story about a girl named Eva who was abandoned on the side of the road by her horrible, drug-addicted parents. She was then adopted by another horrible couple. The new father beat her constantly and her mother was just crazy. They changed her name to Brynn as well.
Growing up with these horrible people scarred Brynn for life. She has no idea how to have relationships or what love is.
When she is in high school she meets Adam, a boy who tries to bring her out of her shell. They eventually get married and try to have a happy life together.
Brynn suffers from nightmares every night and she just doesn't really know how to have normal relationships.
After Brynn’s adoptive dad passes away her mom becomes obsessive. This drives a wedge between Brynn and Adam and he eventually leaves her.
This book was heartbreaking all the way through. Nothing good seemed to ever happen for this poor woman. Cruelty and pain is all she knows.
If you are looking for a book to rip your heart out, then this is for you.
This is the second book in the series. Both books are amazing! I started reading this one right after I finished the second one. She really knows how to draw you in with her writing. I cant wait for the next book to come out!!
This book was again an emotional and heartbreaking read/story.
Brynn and Adam have to endure every parents nightmare. After the lose of what they have dreamed about Adam goes to a dark place. While he was doing this Brynn decides to console herself instead of doing it together.
While consoling herself she affects many other people. We get to see how one choice affects many through out a life time.
We again see how two people can be truly meant for each other. This is through the good and bad of what life will throw at them. Also, we get to see how strong Brynn really is.
Like the first book this one was very hard for me to read because of mine and my husband's career choices. As well as being a parent and having gone through the nightmare myself.
I look forward to reading Jennifer Sivec's next book.
I loved both stories. The first book was a little more detailed . The second book seemed to be a little faster and I felt that there should have been more time spent on the characters and how they lived and died. What :) what happened to Amy? Did Peter and Lily ever see her a g ain? What h happened to Adam? Did he ever see Jesse again? Did eva get to meet Adam's parents? How did Adam find out he was eva father? Jane knew he might not be. How did Noah and Amy live after the accident. I truly hate when stories end with so many unanswered questions. Sequels can only go so far before they start to unfold like a soap opera. I loved these stories and I might read another in the series if there is one. I just don't know if I could hold my interest after that
Make sure you read book one Leaving Eva before you read this book as this is the continuation of Eva's story.
I struggled with putting my review of book one into words. The feels I got I just couldn't put into words. So you can imagine my struggle to put words to my feelings with this story. So I'm not going to. All I'm gonna say is I needed more tissues reading this than book one.
While reading this story I was so hoping that Eva would get a break, that she'd find some inner peace. However life ain't always sweets and roses so I'm glad the author wrote Eva's story and in the way that she did.
Well done to the author on a brilliant well written raw story. Eva's story will stay with me for a long time.
Jennifer Sivec has done it again with another well written novel. She knows what her readers want to read and knows how she wants her characters to sound. Through this book it's heartache, secrets and lessons being learned. It has you hooked from the first to the last page begging for the sequel to be published. This being the second book in the series only makes you want more as soon as possible.
The main characters have been through hell and back through the years as a couple. Both finding new love interests and losing them. Both of them having family drama and then both of them defeating tragedy. In order to find out what takes place you need to buy the book and read the first book in the series.
