Judith Keim, A USA Today Best Selling Author, is a hybrid author who both has a publisher and self-publishes. Ms. Keim writes heart-warming novels about women who face unexpected challenges, meet them with strength, and find love and happiness along the way, stories with heart. Her best-selling books are based, in part, on many of the places she's lived or visited and on the interesting people that she's met, creating believable characters and realistic settings her many loyal readers love.
She enjoyed her childhood and young-adult years in Elmira, New York, and now makes her home in Boise, Idaho, with her husband and their two dachshunds, Kacy and Wally, and other members of her family.
While growing up, she was drawn to the idea of writing stories from a young age. Books were always present, being read, ready to go back to the library, or about to be discovered. All in her family shared information from the books in general conversation, giving them a wealth of knowledge and vivid imaginations.
Ms. Keim loves to hear from her readers and appreciates their enthusiasm for her stories.
It's an easy read. I really found it too easy and wish it had been more complex. I loved the premise, but wished that the characters had more depth. It only scratched the surface of 'Gavin's people' yet there was so much opportunity there. I wanted to love this book, but just couldn't. I'd like to know how it all ends, but I'm not planning on reading beyond book 1.
I was given an ARC copy of this book through NetGalley and have to admit was looking forward to a story of how a woman who seemingly had lost herself was able to regain her identity. I was disappointed that this is not what I found in this book.
The author seemed to feel that she needed to include every possible situation for the main character to live through in order to "find herself" i.e. spoiled and unappreciative children, feeling taken for granted by spouse, contentious relationships with siblings...the list goes on. In this case, more was not better as none of these were explored in any depth. The younger sisters seemed very immature to me and I wanted to knock some sense into them!
I feel there was potential for a good book but this seemed to just miss the mark. Too many crises to deal with and none of them developed to the full potential.
This story due to d's the reader with family values while meeting goals and challenges. Characters are believable and warm. The ending came much too quickly. And flows effortlessly into the next book.
Mi è proprio piaciuto come persona.
Complimenti all’autrice, consigliato!
This is a first in series and a fun summer time read. I loved the well crafted writing, the unique charcters and enjoyed the plot of the story very much. I highly recommend this book for your reading enjoyment.
This is the story about three sisters who jointly inherit a rundown hotel in west Florida. In order to inherit the sisters must agree to renovation and earning money by the end of the first year or they will not receive the inheritance and the money he has left for all of them. He has left a small allowance for them with his adviser in order to help them designed as part of the challenge. They must do this on the small budget he left behind. The adviser is overseeing the progress of the project and making sure the sisters stay within the parameters of the agreement. . They will learn they not only are responsible for planning, designing and running the hotel, but there are eight people their uncle allowed to live at the hotel as long as they run the restaurant and help with renovations. The eight people are all unique charcters and the sisters are not happy about their being at the hotel. They range from lazy to hard working to indecisive and add to the fun of the book. None of the three want to take this on but they jump in to work together to gain their inheritance and in the beginning they hope to sell the eyesore and move on with their lives.
They are presented with many problems and disappointments. This was a very fun book premises to read and see how many problems they had to solve and how they all came around to enjoy the hotel and the process. The book ends before the first year is up, so you will want to read the next in the series as soon as it comes out. Well done to the author ! This is a favorite summer read of mine for 2018. i cannot wait to read the next in series. Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my review. I highly recommend this book.
Finding Me (Salty Key Inn Series #1) by author Judith Keim is a delightful story about three sisters who jointly inherit a rundown hotel in west Florida. There is a stipulation to be followed, the sisters must agree to get the hotel renovated and earning money by the end of the first year or they will not receive the balance of the money waiting in the inheritance. They have no idea how much money their uncle, Gavin Sullivan, has put aside for them if they are successful. He has left some basic instructions and a modest allowance for them with his friend and advisor in order to help them if they decide to accept the challenge. They will learn they not only are responsible for planning, designing, and working within a very tight budget, but there are eight people their uncle befriended and are allowed to live at the hotel as long as they help run the restaurant and help with the hotel renovations. This experience is supposed to be a 'life-lesson' for the girls! Sheena is the oldest sister with a husband and two teenage kids who live in Boston. The second sister is Darcy, a wiz at her IT job is easy to convince. Regan is the youngest and she is ready for a challenge. She is a beauty and has never been challenged for her intelligence, but always considered the pretty but dumb sister. The three girls agree and start the challenge set before them. It is far from easy and they are presented with many problems and disappointments. This was a fun book to read and think about all the decisions the girls had to make along the way. The book ends before the first year is up, so you will be hooked and will want to read the next in the series, also. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Finding Me by Judith Keim is the first book in the Salty Key Inn series. An unexpected inheritance opens doors of possibilities and life changing opportunities. Sheena Sullivan Morelli and her sisters, Darcy and Regan, inherit a hotel on the Gulf Coast of Florida from their Uncle Gavin. As the black sheep of the family, Gavin had disappeared from their lives many, many years ago. However, there is a twist. They must live together for one year at the hotel and prepare the hotel to receive guests within a year. Sheen is eager to escape her role as an unappreciated wife and mother and rediscover herself. Dreams of sitting on the beach, sipping margaritas are dashed when the hotel is in desperate need of repair and renovation. Undaunted, the three sisters set a plan and are determined to meet this challenge to change their lives forever. Finding Me is a story about finding one’s true self. Sheena married young and devoted herself to her husband, his business and their children. Darcy works a job she hates while she dreams of something better. Regan has spent her life being the dumb blonde while hiding a true talent that she fears to reveal. Each sister must commit to their uncle’s last wishes or no one will inherit anything. This story should have been Sheena’s story with aspects hinting at Darcy and Regan’s stories in later books, however, the alternating points of view were distracting and with just too much going on. I didn’t like the fact that Sheena was willing to leave her husband, whom she claims to love greatly, and live apart for one year. Overall, I enjoyed the story but I am not sure if I liked it enough to continue the series.
Finding Me is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook
Finding Me is rather a telling title for the first story in the Salty Key Inn series. It’s not only the eldest sister, Sheena who is finding herself after years of being wife, mother and pretty much a maid to her family but also her sisters finding themselves as well.
Sheena, Darcy and Regan had such dreams when first told of the strange inheritance they’d received from an uncle who most of them had no memory of. The reality was far, far different from what any of them could have imagined. In the place of lavish dreams came hard work, compromise, and discovering exactly who each woman was at the core… not what others, or even themselves, thought they were.
I wish I could say that this first story in the series gripped me enough to want to continue on… it did not. I feel no need to understand any of these women any further. I’m certain that there are readers who will love Finding Me and/or the Salty Key Inn series. It’s a good story, just not one that compels me to want to know more, I’m content to let it go after this first story. Frankly, one story with Darcy’s and Regan’s attitudes was enough for me. If I cannot care about the character’s future, or what happens to them then I know that this is a book that is really not for me.
However, I would encourage you to make up your own mind. As of the date of this review, Finding Me was available at no cost. So, you’ve little to lose by giving it a try to discover if you’ve found a new series to follow.
It’s an easy read, uncomplicated. Place is set well and easily envisioned. I didn’t like the chapter headings use of the sisters names. I would’ve been happier to have the chapters just numbered or perhaps with a clue about what that chapter is about to reveal, for example; The Fire.
The story is about three sisters coming together to revitalise a hotel inheritance from their deceased uncle. They are assigned a years mission to bring the hotel back to life but if they fail, they lose everything.
I feel the characters of this story lacking in depth. The sisters relationships coming together because of the inheritance is well and good but their history comes at you in dribs and drabs. You learn something about each sister bit by bit. The married sisters relationship with her husband and their kids is wanting. What their relationship represents requires a foundation. The mention of the husbands business is vague perhaps it’s intentional as the author steers our focus on the wife’s aspirations to ‘find herself’ again.
The characters at the hotel that their uncle allowed in get a mention early on but then we lose track of them until one of them rescues a daughter from drowning at sea. I would’ve liked to see them come to life with each character accentuated as stand out characters maybe comical, maybe serious and very individual.
A light read if that’s what you’re after. I intend to read the entire series just to see if the gaps in this story are captured moving forward.
When their estranged uncle passes away and gives them a hotel in Florida, Sheena, Regan, and Darcy think they have hit the jackpot. In order to keep the hotel and a large inheritance, the sisters must live on the premises for one year leaving behind their families, jobs, and security.
Upon arrival in Florida, they realize that the luxury hotel they thought they were getting, actually is a rundown resort that needs lots of repairs. They have also inherited Uncle Gavin’s group of friends that he is permitting to live on the premises. Sheena finds that working on the hotel is pulling her family (still in Boston) apart. Regan and Darcy seem to be fighting over the same guys while also trying to show that they are mature and have hidden talents.
This book is the first in the Salty Key Inn series by the Judith Keim. While some of the story has questions answered, you are left hanging (to read the next book) to see what happens with the hotel and its unlikely residents. This book is about each sister trying to discover what they want out of life as well as working together to form a strong bond and more loving relationships.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This may have been the first book by Judith Keim that I have read but it won’t be the last. This wonderful books starts out with three sisters, Sheena Morelli, Darcy and Regan inheriting a hotel in Florida from their Uncle Gavin Sullivan. But in order for it to be truly theirs, they must live in for a year. They would need to give up their careers, move to Florida and in the case of Sheena, to leave her family. Of course, all their dreams of a life of leisure are dashed at the first sight of their hotel.
The struggles that the characters must face in trying to get the hotel up and running and in dealing with each other are easy to identify with. It was easy to imagine how I would feel in the same position. Although the mood in the book is kept light, each character must battle self doubt and issues from the past in order to make the project work.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the next book to find out more about The Salt Key Inn.
I received a copy of this book as a gift from Judith Keim with no obligation to review it, This is my honest review of her book
Lettura super consigliata.
Valutazione:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spicy: no erotic Emozioni: 💘💘💘💘💘 Recensione a cura di Silvia Turi.
Sheena, the oldest of the sisters has the most to lose. In order to gain their inheritance, the sisters have to move to Florida, live and work together to make the inn a viable business again. Sheena has to leave her husband and her teenage children. Sheena has been unappreciated by her family for years as she keeps the home pleasant and peaceful. This move gives her an opportunity to find herself. Even though this book is from all three sisters' viewpoint, this book is centered slightly more on Sheena. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love this book and hope to read more in this series. This is a book about sisters learning about each other and learning to work together for a dream. The move also positively affects how Sheena relates to her husband and children. I really enjoyed reading this book.
I was lucky enough to be an advance reader for author Judith Keim's upcoming novel, FINDING ME, the first in her upcoming Salty Key Inn series. Love her three main characters, sisters Sheena, Regan and Darcy, who must revitalize a ramshackle inn in Florida (and make it a profitable) in order to claim an inheritance.
Enjoyed reading about the sisters learning to work together, their respective love interests and the trials and joys of bringing an old but potentially charming building back to life. Spoiled children, money troubles, self-discovery are all interesting and realistic plot lines.
I am a fan of Ms. Keim's writing, and FINDING ME is a wonderful new read. Look forward to the next books in the Salty Key Inn series.
Fun new series that has wonderful characters that you love and a series of life challenges to win an inheritance. I enjoyed the first book and can't wait to see what happens next. There sisters, as different as night and day, must take a run down hotel in Florida and get it up and running in order to get their uncle's inheritance. Through hard work and a bit of working outside the box, they sacrifice everything to rebuild. The life's challenges are difficult but, as they begin to work together, they start to find their way. It's the perfect summer read and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in the second book. A sure fire way to enjoy a fantastic book while enjoying your summer. Enjoy!
Three sisters are given the opportunity to change the courses of thie lives if they are willing to make the necessary adjustments to succeed in this enjoyable book. Sheena, Darcy and Regan all have imperfect lives. Sheena is a mother and wife feeling taken advantage of by her husband and two teenage children. Darcy is looking for her true calling. Regan has never landed anywhere for very long, flitting from aim to aim. A deceased uncle leaves them a sight unseen hotel in Florida for them to turn around using their wits and unforeseen specialties. They have to stay there for one year or lose the hotel and their uncle’s sizeable inheritance.
An enjoyable read about sisters and their bond. Sisters Shenna, Reagan, and Darcy face an uphill battle when they learn about their inheritance from their Uncle Gavin Each lady has a very definite personality and according to the terms of the will they must live together and get the hotel running in one year. If they are successful they will earn the inheritance of a lifetime. If they fail, they lose everything.
As Shenna, the big sister begins she is torn between working with her sisters and feeling like she is abandoning her husband and teenage children. As the sisters work together to try to make the hotel a success their personal strengths and struggles are revealed.
Finding Me is the first book in the Salty Key Inn series by Judith Keim. I enjoyed this book a lot, three sisters receive an inheritance that they have to devote a year of their lives to receive it all. The first book centers on all the sisters but Sheena and her family play a major role in the book. Sheena is the only married one and must leave her husband and two children for a year for her and both her sisters to inherit the whole estate. Sheena's life has been put on hold being a wife and mom for years, giving up her dreams for others. This is her chance to accomplish something for herself, the growing experience that the sisters go thru make this a heartwarming read.
3 sisters inherit a run down hotel and need to live in it, get it up and running and they will inherit a large estate. Their uncle left it to them as a learning experience for them and learn they do. They have 2 weeks to leave their jobs, home and/or families. Along the way the each have dilemmas and learn from each one of them.
I did enjoy the book but I don't think I will read the next book in the series partly because I have a reading list 10 miles long and partly because while I enjoyed the book it didn't leave me wanting to continue with the series.
Self Discovery on the Gulf Coast This is a wonderful piece of women's literature. It is about discovering one's self and rediscovering one's self. It about rejecting the opinion of others, looking in the mirror and seeing who is looking back. The story is well done and leads into the next of the series without having any type of cliff hanger. All of the character development is quite believable, I am looking forward to more of the background stories being told in future books. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
I enjoyed this first book in the Salty Key Inn Series. Set in the Gulf Coast of Florida, three sisters discover that an Uncle has bequeathed a hotel and property in need of major repair to them. They must, however, live there together for one year while fulfilling the challenge of turning the hotel back into a viable business. The sisters, Sheena, Darcy and Regan are each a unique personality. I truly enjoyed getting to know the three sisters plus many other wonderful characters. Now I am anxious to read Book 2 in this Series!
Ehh, a freebie and easy to read. The ending was short and horrible, you have to read the next book to really know what happens, and I don’t plan to do that, unless it becomes free soon... I thought Darcy was so rude and immature and always ready for an argument. Reagan had a chip on her shoulder that she really needed to acknowledge and deal with. They were both so quick to get mad at Sheena, along with her husband and children, which was sad because she seemed to be the only one trying to make it all work without problems. A lot was left unexplained in this book, which was frustrating...
I got this book because I thought it would be an easy read book. It was that, but had I known that the book was # 1, of three or four, I wouldn't have read it. That is the reason I only gave it three stars. The book was about three sisters that had to live together for a year to become the full owners of a motel that needed a lot of work done to it, in order to receive an inheritance. It's about their ups and downs and their hopes and dreams. There are a lot of good parts in the book. My problem with the book ….. It just didn't end.
