What happens when a free-spirited artist from big-city New York collides with an uptight business owner from small-town Ocracoke? Fireworks. The kind neither saw coming.

A single call is all it takes to drive artist Ti Russo into what she does best. Run. But hey, lying low in a beach town for a while isn’t so bad. Thanks to the distraction of playing consultant to a guy she’s determined to crack, she can almost forget about the past stalking her back home. But she never counted on the real danger being a picket-fenced life she has no business falling for.

Focus and self-preservation have gotten single dad Drew Anderson through the last nine years. With the threat of his shop’s foreclosure jeopardizing his daughter’s health care, the last thing he needs is a distracting hippie chick swooping in to shake up what he’s fought to protect. Including himself. The bank’s deadline adds enough pressure without re-risking feelings better left buried.

But as sparks flare and secrets escalate, the race against time propels Ti and Drew into a choice neither’s ready to make: Find the faith to surrender their past or forfeit their only chance to begin again.

Download Begin Again and escape into a sparks-flying, opposites-attract contemporary clean romance full of small-town charm, broken characters, and deep undertones of grace that’ll win your heart.

If you’re a Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore fan, you’ll love Drew and Ti’s sparring relationship, along with Begin Again’s small-town setting, quirky characters, and family bonds.

Growing up, Ti had the worst imaginable childhood. Her first opportunity she had to run away, she took it... running as fast and as far away as possible. But when her best friend needs her, she returns to do anything she can to help her out. In the process she realizes that enough is enough. She is going to face her past and show them that she is no longer afraid. But one phone call is all it takes to bring her nightmare of a past back and make her run again. This time to Ocracoke Island.

Ti is in desperate need of a distraction. If she has something other than her own life to focus on she might just be able to keep the nightmares at bay. The distraction comes in the form of Drew, a single father who is struggling to keep his family souvenir shop open, his daughter's health under control, medical bills paid and keep his own demons from consuming him. But one look at Ti has him fighting every step of the way. She reminds him too much of his past and he cannot afford to be hurt again.

But somewhere along the way these two lonely, broken individuals learn to rely on each other, fight for each other, help each other, and love each other. That doesn't mean their journey is all sunshine and roses. No.. far from it. It was an uphill battle the entire way. They had to learn to overcome past hurts, learn to forgive, learn to let go, learn to be selfless, learn to have faith, learn to love all over again. This book is full of emotion and heartache. But you will find yourself cheering Ti and Drew on as they strive to achieve their HEA.

Ms. Walton has a way weaving a tale full of emotions. She has this way of taking you on the journey with her characters, as if you're living their lives right along side them. I can't wait to see where she takes us next!

And of course I just can't forget my casting! I love these two for Ti and Drew! What do you think?

I've really been looking forward to this book. Ever since I read the first book in this series, Write Me Home, and got a glimpse of Ti, I've wanted to know her story. If you haven't anything in this series yet, now is a great time to start. You don't have to read these books in order, but I would recommend it just for the sake of build up and history. :) And, this book is on kindle unlimited if you have that. yay!

I'm a fan of Crystal Walton because she has a gift for writing real, emotional characters who struggle, but keep moving forward. Readers will be able to find a bit of themselves in her characters.

I loved the opposites attract aspect of this book. It made for some great sparks between Ti and Drew who really are polar opposites in many ways. Ti radiates energy and confidence with a free spirit attitude. She also bottles up her pain and her past tightly within herself. Drew is a tightly wound guy. He carries many burdens on his shoulders and keeps things carefully controlled in order to stay on top of things. He is frustrated and has been operating in self preservation mode for a long time. In actuality, Ti and Drew are more alike than they think. They have many of the same hurts and frustrations, dreams and talents. They just handle them in different ways.

This story was a great emotional journey. I felt like I knew the characters and shared in their success and pain. The story unwound itself bit by bit so the build up felt significant. I was drawn in from the very beginning and couldn't put this book down.

Content: Clean, some kissing. Some references to drug abuse and prostitution.

I love a series like this, where the books take place in the same place/time and has overlapping characters, but can stand on its own. I feel like its easier to just it up and enjoy and not worry as much about what happened in previous books.

Ti is new in town and is drawn to Drew, who is her opposite in many ways. While I had a hard time relating to Ti, I did find her to be an interesting characters and enjoyed her character growth throughout the story. Drew and Ti have an interesting courtship and really have a lot to overcome to be together. There is some drama in the story and it's one of those books that I have to be in the mood for (I typically stick with lighter reads), but enjoyed the balance in the book.

This novel is set in a charming small town, has endearing characters you can't help but root for and an engaging story that will keep you turning the pages.

Content
Romance: Clean, mild romance
Language: None
Violence: Mild violence, talk of drug abuse & prostitution

I have one word for you: BANTER.

Drew and Ti have such fabulous banter between them. Their chemistry is tangible, for sure, but even without out it their back and forth would put such a smile on your face! And oh my stars – Drew in love is just the most adorable thing!! The scene where he TRIES to ask Ti out on a date is romcom gold! I laughed out loud and was still smiling over it several scenes later.

But along with the sass and the swoon, there’s a lot of really sweet and tender moments too. Ti has never been around a man who cherishes her, who treats her like a treasure, who sees her with respect as well as desire in his eyes. The moments when Drew leaves all other guys in the dust by being “not the norm” from what she’s used to are some of my favorite moments in the book!

You will laugh and smile and swoon … but you’ll also need to keep a tissue box handy because for all its fun and romance there’s a very serious side to Begin Again. We first met Ti in Write Me Home and had hints of her story there, but Crystal Walton really pulls back the layers in Begin Again. And Ti’s story isn’t easy on the heart, but oh what healing there is to be found.

Walton’s gift for writing adds to the gentleness that soothes the ache that it also brings. With sentences like “Green eyes cascaded over her with a warmth no touch could match” you’ll want to curl up into the book, the characters, and the setting … and you won’t be ready to say goodbye when you reach the final word. I adored her writing voice in Write Me Home, but in Begin Again, she absolutely shines!

(4.5 Stars) Ti is a free-spirited, hippie girl, who is new to this beach town. Sparks fly when she encounters Drew and she is determined to figure him out and get him to open up. These complex characters each have pasts to overcome and futures to discover through faith, love, and charm.

I may be in the minority here, but Ti wasn't my cup of tea at first. She's kind of brash, blunt, and almost in-your-face and that's so opposite of me. She rubbed me wrong...until I learned a good, hard lesson-- "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about." And that's exactly what I learned about Ti. As pieces of her background began to emerge, I realized that I had completely misjudged her and I really grew to like and admire her.

Drew is more like me, as he holds things close to his heart and deep inside. He's a tough nut to crack, but wouldn't you know, love has a way of softening things. As Drew's past and future collide, he's forced to face things. I love it when he's not afraid to admit he's wrong and does what he can to fix things.

As for the romance, it's volatile, as an opposites-attract type of romance can be. I love the deep transformations and the way the romance fills in the cracks of these shattered characters. This story is an emotional ride and for me, there are things that are difficult to read about and imagine. The plot is well played out and I enjoyed the ride.

Content: mild romance (vague talk of prostitution, kissing); talk of drug and alcohol use/abuse; very mild violence (stalking, abuse).

Oh, this book! This book held me in its grip from the first chapter until the last. And what a rollercoaster of emotions to experience in between! I have fallen in love with many characters over the years, but Ti and Drew have definitely taken a prominent place in my heart. Their banter is some of the most enjoyable I have read in a long time, and their personalities burst from the page—even Drew’s moments of quiet tension and broodiness! They really were some of the most enjoyable characters I’ve ever spent time with!

Crystal Walton’s writing has always had depth and vibrancy, but I feel as though she’s really hit her stride with this novel. It was pitch perfect. And Ti and Drew weren’t the only characters to fall in love with, either. Drew’s daughter, Maddie; his brother, Cooper; Grandma Jo; they all added life and depth to this story. And I’m very excited to know that Cooper’s story will be next. There’s definitely a story waiting to be told there!

But despite the fun and laughter, there is some serious pain behind both the main characters—and a particularly dark story in the case of Ti. I appreciated that the author was able to convey the way this had affected the characters without dwelling on the circumstances any more than was necessary. For most of the novel it hangs in the background as a spectre, but I definitely shed a few tears in the latter half, as the characters worked through the emotional detritus holding them back.

This is a novel that manages to be full of life, love, and laughter, while hitting a deep emotional chord at the same time. It might only be the beginning of 2017, but I can safely say this will be one of my favourite contemporary romances of the year.

I received a copy of this novel from the author. This has not influenced the content of my review.

Ti and Drew's story is truly amazing. Drew is struggling to take care of Maddie and trying to keep the store. When Tia came to town Drew tries to avoid her. Tia is amazing with the things she does to help Drew keep the store. Watching Tia and Drew try to fight the feelings they have for each other will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Grandma Jo is a very special person you will love. The author has written a amazing book that is impossible to put down. This book deserves a higher rating than a five star review.

Begin Again by Crystal Walton – Healing, Forgiveness and Danger Paint this Contemporary Romance

The past doesn't frame a pretty picture for Trina Russo. It’s this that puts New York in the rear-view and sends her to the shores of Carolina. By doing this, she leaves behind a successful art studio business, and worries her friends, but she finds something precious.

In the small coastal town, she meets Drew Anderson. A single father struggling to keep on top of overwhelming medical bills, and the family business he fears having to give up, Ti’s arrival seems almost too good to be true. Looking for distractions and a place to hide, she puts every effort into helping Drew revamp his business, but when things between them become more personal than professional, at what cost will Ti’s participation in Drew’s life come?

When first we met Ti in Crystal’s novel from last year (originally a standalone, Write Me Home), she was a fun character who made us laugh. Or so first impressions suggest. Little do we realize the extent and depth the scars of her past extend.

Ti’s story is one of pain, heartbreak, and disbelief. All emotions that have to be turned upside down so we, along with this character, can discover the joy to be found in the small things. To remember what hope looks like, to remember what it feels like to truly feel free, happy and whole. This is where Drew's unexpected role in her life makes the different. Drew’s pursuit of her is one of attraction, but also a deeper connection. He pursues her to tell her she’s worth more than her vision of herself. He pursues her to give her a place to call home. He pursues her to show her the depth love and family can mean.

Those who like Nicholas Sparks novels will appreciate this romance. It hides deeper secrets than first glance suggests and blooms into a novel of hope, and forgiveness. The author carries through on the same theme as Write Me Home in its promise of discovering home as the light at the end of the tunnel.

Flawed in shattered ways, these characters are sure to pique romance readers interest. What they’ve gone through is heartbreak and bittersweet, sorrow and joy, and all of it comes to a head in the final chapters of Begin Again. But as any good author is able to do, Walton brings these “hard” issues full circle, and gifts us - and these characters, an ending sure to draw a smile.

Content: though nothing “explicit,” some readers may not like the emphasis on the “physical” relationship between Trina and Drew. There is a lot of importance placed on the attraction, and a good deal of kissing.

Story of Hurt and Forgiveness

Ti is running. Always running away but she can't outrun the pain of her past.
Drew is trying to live his late father's life. Be the man his father was and not the man he should be.
Ti is hiding on the island, Drew becomes her project, at least saving his shop does.
Both have to learn to let go in order to move forward.
I loved Grandma Jo and her words of wisdom sprinkled throughout the book in the perfect places.
I loved seeing Ti let her guard down with Drew.
The way the author deals with the tough subjects is very well done. Not overly played but enough for this reader to feel what the characters feel.
Cooper's story is next...I can't wait!

I loved this book! Ti and Drew were opposites but they were complimentary opposites. Ti was out spoken, free spirited and fun. Drew was serious, completely devoted to his family, and stuck to an outdated plan. Both were struggling with scars from their pasts. I loved how Ti just barreled into Drew's life and took over. She did it to help him and because she was so out spoken she blew past all his hesitations that were holding him back. I loved how Drew's gentle spirit and loving family helped Ti feel a sense of home and peace. This is a swoon worthy romance but even better it is a great book about where peace is really found and realizing that we are never alone.

I loved the character of Ti Russo when I "met" her in Crystal's previous book "Write Me Home", so I was thrilled to read Ti's full story in "Begin Again". Ti has a fun, quirky, tell-it-like-it-is personality, and when she falls for a "set in his ways" Drew, it's a crazy perfect match. It would be left there and it would be a sweet and clean romance. But there is so much depth to these characters that you don't want to miss. Before they can get to a happily ever after they each have to overcome serious and deep rooted hurts that will break your heart right along with them. This story will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and I feel this is Crystal's best book yet! A must read!

-"Still trying to make sense of him, Ti studied her temporary business comrade. Tall and defined, he had a body any other guy would strut. Yet he didn’t seem interested in pursuing or being pursued. A family man with a past. A business owner with a story. One thing was for sure. Drew Anderson was more than intriguing."-

Drew is just trying to hold everything together since he lost his father in a dramatic boating accident. He's struggling to keep his father's store (now his) afloat and others want to buy his boat... It feels like everyone is trying to take his precious memories away from him.

Ti is brash and outspoken. She suddenly shows up in town and seems adamant about keeping her past secretive. Yet she is bound and determined to help Drew to succeed in his business and to lighten up in life too.

Drew and Ti shared some pretty witty and quick banter that had me laughing out loud.

This is book 2 in a series. While this is a stand-alone, it would be helpful to read Write Me Home first. This story is well-written with a mature voice. It is a clean drama/romance. It grabbed my attention from the very first page and had me spellbound.

* I received an ebook from the author, however, that in no way affects my review or opinions. *

This is not my first book by author Crystal Walton and it is not going to be my last! I love her style of writing, her characters and her stories! She writes fun, flirty stories that make the reader want to enter into her world and never leave. This is book 2 in the series but it can be read as a standalone book and you will be able to understand everything that is going on. There is no reason not to read book 1 first though, as there are re-curring characters, it's an amazing book and it's worth the read!

This book was well written, the characters were relatable and refreshing and the plot flowed quickly. The reason I give this a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because there were too many things left unfinished. I felt like I was missing a lot of answers when I reached the end. What happened to Annie? What happens to Ti's dad? Does she finish a new painting to go to San Francisco? Does she let them know she isn't going to take the job? What about New York? These are just a few that are still running around my brain....I wanted more answers, more closure, more tied ends.

I felt like maybe there were a few too many tendrils to the story and some of them got lost. Don't get me wrong, the main characters and their story is a fun one - you will yell, cry and scream at them while you are reading, but for me, those secondary stories needed more. Ti and Drew will leave you with a book couple hangover and I pity the next couple that you read because you won't be ready for them....no matter how much time has passed.

Grab this book and her others and be prepared to be wowed! You will quickly discover that you have found a hidden gem of an author!

Have you ever wanted to run away and hid? Well that’s what Ti has done. She has a strong artistic, free-spirit which she uses to hid behind, so others can’t see or know of her pain.
Drew is hiding behind a strong, driven work ethic, to cover up for all the losses in his life. Both never seem to realize they are only damaging their own lives.
This story is one which will touch your heart deeply at times, bring giggles out, and make you realize we all have value and worth.
Crystal Walton has done a fantastic job of drawing out emotions of the reader while reading this book. There are true times of drama, frustrations, laughter, smiles, romance and a bit of suspense in this story. It will hold you captive until the end.
I truly recommend you pick this book up and read it. It is a sweet story of enduring love and forgiveness.
I was given this book by the author for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

Complex, artistic, and moving

The story line felt quite a bit like that of the first book with a character helping save a business, an ex showing up at the end, a grandma being the spiritual leader and voice of reason, and the female mc having so much emotional baggage that they are difficult to reach. A lot of the dialogue was difficult to follow. Idk if the author was trying to make the language too poetic or what, but I felt like I was missing thing and would flip back to make sure I didn't skip a page. It was like she knew exactly where the story was going in her head and skipped phrases the reader needed but because we weren't in her head, we missed some vital thoughts that would have helped with comprehension.
I liked the references to Gods hand and wished they had been throughout the book instead of thrown in right at the end. I like that the male Mc is such a gentleman and waits until marriage for intimacy.

So Ti is one giant ball of energy and tries to leave an impact wherever she is. And in comes Drew wound up tighter than a mechanical toy. What starts out as a bid to help turns into a love story filled with healing and redemption. We are never too broken that we can't be made whole. Ti in her brokenness struggles to accept this and the fact that she is enough just as she is. And Drew oh my heart. He's just the cutest especially in love. The fact that he is willing to work at making sure Ti understands just how valuable she is to him is awesome and in turn he also finds healing for his demons.
Ms. Walton has weaved a story that grabs from the start and doesn't let you go till it has wrung every emotion from you and then finally leaves you with a smile on your face and joy in your heart that it all worked out.

Just finished Begin Again. Wow. Deep, rich characters that I loved and cared about. The damage to the 2 mc's is heartbreaking but I was most upset about Ti's horrible childhood. I was so angry--then I had to remind myself that she was so well written that she became real. I rooted for her and Drew. I wanted Drew to be the person she could trust enough to stop seeing the awful men like Jaime.

Well done. I'm in awe of such a deep enriching story that brought me in to share the journey. There were so many parts that I enjoyed. I highlighted 18 different lines/sections in this book. The highest number of quotable moments in a book. This was one I had to read again right away, even though I knew I hadn't skipped anything. I re-read to enjoy the journey once again.

Now, on to the next one because Crystal Walton has now become one of my favorite Authors.

When I started reading Begin Again, it felt a lot like the first book. Drew was the reserved one trying to overcome past hurts and Ti was the one pushing his boundaries. The more I got into the book, the more I realized that it was its own story. I think that I love this one even more than the first book. I could hear the New York sass pour out of Ti. Drew's slow, steady love is swoon worthy. Even the cast of secondary characters made me fall in love with them.

This is a clean romance with elements of faith. It encompasses sexual abuse, neglect, loss, forgiveness, love and belonging. It could be read as a stand alone, but does have a moment that could be considered a spoiler for "Write Me Home".

Very sweet

This story had all the feels a romance should have. Ti Russo is a talented artist, formal model from New York. She has a horrible past that she continues to run from.

Drew Anderson grew up on a small island where his father ran a trinket store. Drew took over the business after his father died but the business is being foreclosed on unless Drew can find a way to save it.

Ti strolls into the business and takes things into her own hands and helps Drew create a better business. Emotions are high, the banter between them is funny, and their hearts are fluttering while still guarded. Read this sweet story with great characters to see if Drew’s family business can be saved, right along with his heart.

Love this series. Talk about opposites attracting. Ti and Drew are definitely from different worlds and so very different. But they have at least one thing in common, past hurts that are keeping them trapped and not allowing themselves to move on. I am a huge fan of Gilmore Girls so I loved the references. Sometimes first and even second impressions aren't correct (we often don't let others see the truth about us - heck even we don't know the truth about ourselves). Drew's daughter and and brother are great side characters (can't wait for Cooper's book). spoiler - there are possible triggers (though not detailed) about Ti's past. recommend this series.

Begin Again is my favorite book by Crystal Walton yet! The characters and their slowly-revealed backstories are well-developed. The witty exchanges between responsible, brooding Drew and seemingly carefree, hippie chick Ti are fun and smart. (I loved the clever use of Ti making audio notes about "the owner" with her phone.) The minor characters are more than flat extras and have their own stories.

The writing is strong and the proofreading is impeccable, making grammar nerds like me especially happy!

If you're looking for well-written, clean romance that has some sizzle and some real depth, you'll find it all here. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Romance, clean
This was such a lovely read. Characters that had such real emotions, lives torn up by hurt, and needing healing. I loved how they brought out the best in each other. Ti was a great character, calling things like they were, and just a beautiful fall. The Okracoke setting was beautiful with the shop, the water, the beach. Perfect beach read, lovely fall, Ti was the best at pulling people out of their shell. It was so nice to see how things worked out for the shop, for the art, and for them in the end. I definitely loved this book.

This book was awesome. I loved Ti when I first met her Write Me Home and to see she has a story of her own was great. I fell in love with Drew right from the start. He had a lot on his shoulders and had forgotten how to just be himself. Ti on the other hand has issues of her own that she keeps hidden. The way the two get on each other's nerves but at the same time care deeply for each other is such an interesting and fun read. You feel like part of the family.

Begin Again is a well-written story of a young woman with an abusive background beginning as a child and a man whose ex-wife left him and their child. Ti doesn't feel worthy of love and a family. Drew is afraid to risk loving again. Ti is an unusual but strong woman who doesn't give up easily. Ti and Drew are strong characters. Drew's daughter, Maddie, is a loveable child! I enjoyed Begin Again. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Best of the "Home in You" series (which you don't have to read in order, BTW), this novel has former model Ti arriving in the Outer Banks on vacation and running into Drew, a single dad with a failing business. Clever banter ensues as Ti charms her way into helping Drew save his shop in the tourist town, but Ti also needs to deal with the ghosts of her own past, which nearly keep her and Drew apart.

I really enjoyed this book. I read the first book in the series, Write Me Home awhile back. We are introduced to Ti, briefly in that book. In Begin Again, we get to see her story. She is a hurt and broken young lady, who is running from her past. In the small town where she escapes to, she meets Drew, a single father, with his own hurts. This is their story. It is sweet and touching. The banter between Drew and Ti is very entertaining.

Amazing novel. It incorporated all the necessary items to be 5 stars-- characters with rich backgrounds and that experience a growth that makes them loved, a story line that is well developed and flows with twists to surprise you and a romance that touches your heart, bringing you to tears as the couple struggle. Crystal's best!

Often what has occurred in our past blocks happiness in our future. What others have labeled us, prevents us from moving past what was to what could be.
This is a story of two such souls, and their separate fights to overcome what has happened previously, to move from the heart numbing existence they both live and learn to live, love and trust.
