After domming her husband Carl out of his right to choose their sex play for a night, Ellen is smugly confident in her dominance and his submission.
At the hospital where they work though Carl is given the responsibility of training a new hire on the patient diagnostic team. A young attractive woman, Ellen observes them together and is suddenly not as smug. The fawning woman appears to have appealed to an assertive side of Carl Ellen has never seen before.
Worried, she reluctantly confides in her mother Liz while spending a day together on a mother-daughter antiquing trip. Liz proves to be surprisingly knowledgeable about female led relationships. She councils Ellen to be loving in her dominance, reminding her to be humble in accepting Carl’s submission.
The book ends with an encounter with a stranger, a man looking for the dominance of a woman and finding for a few hours with Liz and Ellen.
The One Who Serves is the second book in a series about an episode in the lives of Ellen and Carl, a follow on to the first book, He Won!
