Blake and Ryleigh were both fantastic characters and are working as bodyguards together. Ryleigh is not a weak woman but has lots of specialized training. Blake was a strong character and I really enjoyed him. Lots of action and great chemistry as lots of threats threaten the couple they are protecting. Secondary characters were also wonderful. Great story! Loved it!

Double Jeopardy is one of the twelve books in the Indulgences series where twelve authors have brought the stories of people who came to Indulgences Resort to live out their fantasy. Here everyone gets their HEA even if they don't need or want one. Each book is a stand alone.
Ryleigh Davenport and Blake Albright are former lovers who both work for Guardian Securities. Their new job is to protect a billionaire couple on vacation at the Indulgences Resort, only problem they have to pretend to be a couple themselves. Close quarters, dangerous situations, hot nights in the Caribbean lead to the old flames heating back up.
Protecting their client lives pretty much begins as soon as they hit the island. Figuring out who is trying to kill their clients and why becomes a full time job. I didn't like how Ryleigh treated Blake after they first get back together, but I can understand why she pulled away. Ryleigh has been hurt, not by Blake but an old partner. Luckily for us Blake and Ryleigh get help which allows them to catch the would be killer before they can seriously hurt Duke and Ella. And give Blake and Ryleigh a chance to fall in love again.
Even though this is part of The Indulgence Resort series, Fans of KaLyn will get to see some old friends from her Black Swan Series.

Double Jeopardy is by KaLyn Cooper. This book takes place on Aragon Island off the coast of Panama. Blake Albright works for Guardian Security and was one of the assistant managers. He is surprised when Alex, the owner, brings in Ryleigh Davenport as an agent. She was hired by the co-owner Kaitlin Callahan as the first woman in the agency. Ryleigh was highly qualified and had just left Afghanistan after an illustrious career there. However, she was tired of her job there. At one point several years ago, she and Blake had an affair but she had left quickly and with no explanation to him. He couldn’t forget her.
A billionaire, Duke Wainwright, and his wife, Ella, are vacationing at an exclusive resort on Aragon Island for a week. Guardian Security has taken on the job of protecting them as they have received death threats. Blake Albright and Ryleigh Davenport are selected to protect them posing as their best friends. Ella had planned the entire vacation so she could spend time with her husband without any interruptions from work. This resort was unique in that it forbade the use of phones while there. The major problem they had was no one knew where the death threats came from nor who they were directed at, Duke or Ella? Blake is an assistant manager of the Guardian Security in New York and they offer protection services to people. He is not expecting to see the woman who left him without saying anything. He does not know the reason why she disappeared when he returned from a mission. He has a new assignment as a personal protection security for Duke and Ella and his partner is no other than Ryleigh.
Ryleigh came to New York to work as a new member of the company and she has no idea that he would be working there. However, they are assigned as partners to work as a personal security for a billionaire and they need to travel to an exclusive resort with them. They are going as a married couple for their cover as friends with their clients. They believe that they have threats to their lives so they need to remain vigilant for any suspicious activity. Guardian Security has finally found a woman with the qualifications to be a part of their team. Ryleigh spent a lot of time in the sandbox embedded as an informant. Her partner turned out to be a traitor and she has now left the military behind.
When Blake first sees Ryleigh he thinks she is a potential client, but when he realizes who she is, well let's say he's not sure if he's angry or happy. They had a relationship and she disappeared without a word.
Ryleigh and Blake are given an assignment before she can unpack. A valid threat has been made against Billionaire CEO Duke Wainwright's wife and they need additional security for their vacation at an exclusive resort.
Within minutes of their arrival an attempt on Duke's life is made. Fortunately the head of security for the Island isn't so arrogant as to protest further assistance. Even with two additional bodyguards the attempts keep coming. One of which almost takes out Ryleigh.
It's then that she realizes she doesn't want to stay away from Blake and the temperature goes up.
I love the way the backstory is woven into the current story, so even if you haven't read the other books you won't feel lost.
I can't wait for more of this series, these ladies are inspiring in more ways than one.
Action packed, suspenseful and definitely hotter than the climate.

WOW! What an intriguing novella. This story is about Blake and the love of his life, Ryleigh. Blake thought he lost Ryleigh forever until she shows up at his place of work as the newest member of his team. They are assigned to protect a rich couple and had hoped it would be an easy assignment but it was definitely not easy. Come to find out it was Duke's old friend and Elle's old roommate from college. Once she was arrested, the couple were able to finish their vacation, as short as it was. Ryleigh realized that she indeed loves Blake and tells him so at the end of the book. I am happy that they plan to work on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job KaLyn! I would recommend this novella.

Double Jeopardy is a fast-paced second chance romance by KaLyn Cooper. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Cooper has given readers a book that is well-written and loaded with outstanding characters. Blake and Ryleigh were both stationed Afghanistan until Ryleigh disappeared when she went into the CIA. Now they're working together for Guardian Elite. Blake and Ryleigh's story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Double Jeopardy and look forward to my next book by KaLyn Cooper. Double Jeopardy is book 1 of the Guardian Elite Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I love books that throw out hints that I recognize when the villain is unmasked – and this book does just that. When Ryleigh joins Guardian, she’s thrown together with Blake – whom she left without warning years before. Now they’re not only working for the same company, but they’ve been assigned to the same protection detail, and the sparks start even before they leave. The couple they’re protecting are equally engaging, and seemingly irrelevant details finally become desperately important to save their lives. I loved the heat in this book, but it was the suspense element that really kept me reading past my bedtime.

I am so glad this Author did not stop with Black Swan! I feel everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I love the chemistry between Blake and Ryleigh. Even though it was questionable at the beginning, because of Ryleigh's disappearance years prior, doesn't mean feelings change at the drop of a hat! I know everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! Definitely going to recommend to others!

Ryleigh and Blake meet again after she disappeared without a goodbye to Blake when they were serving overseas. She was recruited by the CIA but Blake didn't know any of this. Now she's hired at the DC office of the Guardian elite and surprises Blake who is a manager there. They are teamed up to protect a billionaire couple on their trip. Surprises, heat and danger. HEA. Blake and Ryleigh have a history and lots of baggage and whilst they are wary about rekindling their romance the chemistry they share makes it impossible to resist. I love that Blake is all in and embraces their love, but Ry is more hesitant and guards her heart. She can lie to herself but when the danger ramps up she knows she is only deceiving herself!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited, an enjoyable start to the series with a great cross over.

Catching up on Ms. Cooper's books, this is another fast, action packed romance with heat, suspense and drama that you can't put down.
Part of series, but I have no trouble reading it as a stand alone, out of order as it has everything needed all the way to an HEA for two very tough and dedicated Guardian Elites.

Blake and Ryleigh have a past but Ryleigh disappeared from his life so she could take on a new job opportunity. Now she is one of the deadliest women there is. Her friend is a silent owner in the security agency she was just hired by, in fact, she is the first woman hired. Blake and Ryleigh are going undercover as a married couple traveling with their dear friends, a CEO, and his wife. Someone wants them dead.
I enjoyed this story and loved the setting of the story. This story had action, sexy men, strong women, and a second chance for love. Ms. Cooper kept the story moving along and snagged me from the beginning. I found myself wanting to know more about the other characters mentioned in the book and will definitely look for more in this series as well as her Black Swan series.

Fun, exciting, suspenseful story

This well-paced novella features two ex-military characters (F-M) that are new to me. No spoilers here. Recommended for a quicker read so you won't stay up all night with it!

Excellent story.
This is a wonderful story. Fast paced and well told.
There are several partial sentences inserted into the wrong place we’re distracting, however it took nothing away the the story.

Nothing new here.
This story is so often used it's become mondane. The book is an easy, quick read. I'm disappointed with Ms. Miller's writing this time around.
