“We’re just beginning the lesson for today. It’s on crime and punishment.” Ethan returned his focus to Alina and a psychotic grin spread across his perfectly chiseled face. A tear slid down her cheek as her body took another step. * * * Tired of hiding. Tired of her gilded cage. Alina runs. But running only brings her closer to the final confrontation and the beginning of her eternity whether for good or ill.
i started this series back in 2010 when the first two books came out, and I remember loving them. 8 years later, the final book of this trilogy came out, and I had to reread this series and finally finish.
My final thoughts?
After 7-8 years from book two, I felt like the author improved on her writing for this book. It was a little hard, still, to get through this book. I wasn't at all captivated in the story like I once was in 2010, but it is hilarious to know that after all these years, I still picked Duncan over Samuel. Samuel got a lot better in this book, and yes, I did fall in love with him in this book, but I've loved Duncan since book 1.
In my last review, I had made a list of everything I needed addressed in this book, or I would have given this book a terrible review, but the author literally hit all my questions. She addressed the feelings Alina clearly had for Duncan, but was never addressed in the two books prior. Alina confronted Samuel and all his bull**** that he thought made him cute and a gentleman.
Overall, I'm glad I decided to readed this series. I loved the idea of immortals and romance and I remember back in highschool when I read book 1 was how college was going to be amazing and I would find my Duncan Michaels [or Samuel Grant].
If there is one criticism that I have about the story itself, well two, is one, how easy it was to defeat Ethan at the end, and two, who Duncan ended up with at the end. It literally took maybe 25 pages at most of a 500 page book to defeat the most powerful immortal in the world and it was very disappointing. What else is disappointing, Tabby gets turned into an immortal and gets married to Duncan at the end. Like...the author only did that so Alina would have her best friend for eternity, and pairing her up with Duncan almost seemed like they were the only two other characters who were single so screw it!!! Regardless how they were a terrible match in book 1, and Tabby was just obsessed with what she couldn't have, and now since she is an immortal, hey, they love one another now. I think it is super unnecessary, and I honestly don't like Tabby throughout the book, and think Duncan can do wayyy better.
First of all it should never take close to five years for the last book in a trilogy. I had to reread the first two and discovered that though the books were interesting... they were a little juvenile. I did think the final book was better than the previous two. The plot and characters seemed more developed. I could've given four stars, but again five years wait is simply ridiculous
I had so much fun reading this series. It was paced well, and 3 books for this story was perfect. I think sometimes Authors drag out stories to the point I become frustrated. Not the case here. 3rd book, Eternity was my favorite in the series. It had the perfect amount of mystery, action, drama, and of course love. I recommend this series to anyone into fantasy, immortals, strong female Protagonist, and an original twist on Vampires. I read the first two books in this series years ago when they were new. There was no Book 3 at the time. I forgot 90 percent of the first couple because I have read hundreds of books since. I'm glad I found them and purchased Eternity to read the ending. Well Done!
I NEED another book! I want to know how the 'happily ever after ' ends! It was a great way to wrap up the storyline, but KIND OF leaves you hanging. The author totally could have done a spin-off series of other characters written about through the trilogy.
This was a great final installment in the Immortal trilogy. I enjoyed all the plot twists, especially how everything panned out in the end. Four glittery stars!
