A bit of constrictive criticism.... so to speak... I got this book 'cause I do subscribe to Lyssa's newsletter. I will say bit of frustration being a reviewer ... I get how this is meant to get folks to come and subscribe to her newsletter ... but for me ...I wanna read authors books enjoy and then allow my reviews to help others to make their way to reading these said authors and just start or push a bit of love around the bookie world ...if you saw my TBR list on my kindle you will be like wow, how does the girl ever sleep? ... I am reading books like a silly person ... every moment of my life that are not taken by other errands, life, being married, a wife, (chores, etc.) I am reading ... so I usually will read a bunch of book and then sit down and review them (the hours and moments I spend reviewing online is nuts, I am so not complaining it just all takes a whole bunch of time and energy. I do type fast but not that fast.) ... here on Goodreads and Amazon ... but it gets tough when the book covers or not the same on each platform, or that the book is not available on Amazon to review but there it is on Goodreads, why are they so different? ... I know I know world class #1 problem ... move on Beth ... but it is still a pain in the rump. I see only 2 book from this author on Amazon to be read .. & I have yet to read them. But I was so happy, to get the chance to read this book, I am new to Lyssa Cole ... I loved this book. & can't wait to read more from her in the near future. ( :

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this short and sweet romance.
Chloe is looking to make new start in life and shake the horror of her past by moving to a brand new neighbourhood. She doesn't expect to fall for a man so quickly, but there's something about Nate that just makes her (and her girly parts) sit up and take notice.
The author dealt with a sensitive issue, and though Chloe mostly recovered, I was reminded that not everyone is as lucky.
I wish the story was a bit longer, and I definitely look forward to more of Lyssa Cole's work.

This was a short read but I enjoyed the story. Sad to think how cruel people can be. But at least it was an HEA.

Chloe and Nate are adorable! This is an amazingly sweet novella. Insta-love, a little bit of drama and of course, happily ever after. 💚💜

Taking risks is the first book ever published by author Lyssa Cole.
The story is sweet, sexy and hot hot hot. But also there is a dark side to it (no spoilers, I hate spoilers).
I loved the pace, how Lyssa Cole described the feelings between the two lovers. It kept me wanting more!
I recommend this to anyone into romance books.
It's just the beginning but LyssaCole will go far. Well done!

Chloe is starting over with a new house in a new town. She's ready to put the past behind her, but can admit she's feeling sorry for herself. She left behind her family, best friend, and a job she loved, even though she knew it was the only way, she can't help but feel lonely.
Nate, as foreman for the local construction company, is curious about the owner for one of the recently built houses. When he sees her, he's in awe and can't stop wondering about her, not to mention some other things he's visualizing.
Chloe now has a promising lead on a new job, as well as a makeover after pampering herself a little. But her morning of relaxation is interrupted once the workers next door return. However, once she sees him her irritation is replaced by an attraction that takes her by surprise. When Nate introduces himself, the connection between the two is evident and Chloe accepts his invitation to dinner.
Though their connection is strong, as is their chemistry, Chloe regretfully informs Nate she can't get into a relationship right now. We learn there's more than one reason for that reluctance, one of them being Chloe is worried her past will find her, therefore impacting Nate. But Nate can only stay away for so long and Chloe can no longer resist embracing this chance at happiness for herself.
What happens when Chloe's past finds her? Will Nate new able to save her? Will Nate and Chloe get their HEA, starting a new together?

On a personal note, and this in no way detracts from the author's talent, but as a proofreader I couldn't help but notice some things that could be improved upon such as typos, lack of contractions, unnecessary words, repetition, etc., but as this is her first book, I'm sure this will change as she finds her voice and grows as an author.

If you like hot and steamy passion, scorching hot intimate scenes, then this book is for you. This is the first time I read a book by this author, Lyssa Cole, and I must say, it was a great read. I loved the characters of Nate and Chloe. Nate is a handsome guy who builds houses—the foreman of a local construction company that builds new homes. This job is his life. The one thing Nate stays away from is a relationship and complications. Chloe arrives in town to start over with a new house, new people, and new town because she needs a new look on life. Chloe is running away from her past and she hopes it does not catch up with her. Chloe gets to know her neighbor Mel, and is invited over his house and she meets Nate. Instantly, the chemistry between them is getting really sultry. Will Nate find out about Chloe’s past? Will Nate pursue the relationship with Chloe once he see how complicated everything is? Will this be the end of Nate and Chloe? There is lots of sex in here, and you will revel in this story with profound sexual content for the sensuous adult in you! This book will pique your interest.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is the debut book by this author, it was a quick read but a great storyline and can’t wait for this author to publish another book.
Chloe is new in town, hiding from a soon to be ex-husband who was abusive. She is looking at meeting new people and starting fresh. Nate is the foreman for the building contractor building houses in a new development where Chloe bought her house. Chloe is in town and quickly finds a job, becomes friends with her neighbour Mel and meets Nate when he and his crew are working on the house next door to Chloe. Chloe and Nate go on a date, there is chemistry there, but Chloe is scared her soon to be ex-husband will find her and hurt her and even Nate. Chloe shuts Nate down after the 1st date, but Nate tries again. Nate asks Chloe out on another date a month down the track. They become more, but with Chloe’s soon to be ex-husband tracking her down, Do Chloe and Nate get their HEA?

I wanted to give this a 3.5 but decided to round up. I know this was a novella, but it seemed very short and quick paced. Plus there were a few editing issues.
Other than that it was a very quick and easy read before bed. The author described the scenes well and you could tell there was chemistry. There were parts I expected and then didn't expect! Abuse is a sensitive subject but the author portrayed it well in this quick novella.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick romance read. I know if this story was the length of a novel I would be all over this book!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It's a very cute story. I wish it was a bit longer, but definitely worth the read. Especially for a new author. This is the story of Chloe and Nate. Chloe is on the run from her past and Nate is instantly attracted to her. I never give spoilers, but you will enjoy this sweetness of this short story.

Steamy Love Scenes with Suspense!
I usually don't like short stories but this had the right amount of suspense,steamy sex scenes with a great ending & beginning! I loved it! I think you could actually make this into a longer story, or a series. I loved it!

This is another book that I borrowed from Amazon. I wanted to read all there was by this author. Chloe is trying to start over leaving her old life behind. Look for a new job after a bit of a makeover. Nate is a foreman and builder. He has built the house that she is living in. They meet and sparks fly. He knows that she just have to be his no matter what. Will her past catch up with her or will they get their HEA?
