1. this is just getting better and better, i mean the guys in black who can see them in the world of gantz, they are human probably mercenaries working for the government, and probably they are doing this because of the chaos that the world of gantz brings to the real world, since that humongous dinosaur did a lot of damage and killing in the real world, including the killing of a dozen cops. (page 85)
2. scoring time is the most exciting time of all. and since kei got 58 points in this mission alone we have to assume that there might be 2 to 4 missions left over all in the series, or that kei would lose his points a second time, and i have another idea about the guys in black. they might be there to drink the blood of the world of gantz survivors which gets them some kind of special powers. btw since gantz choose people who die, and they become alive in the world of gantz... doesn't that make them zombies since they are the living dead? just a thought lol (page 120)
3. i like how hiroya oku approached the vampires topic and how he made certain adjustments to enter them into the mix of his incredible manga, but its kind of weird, i mean the man is obviously creative why did he have to use vampires? he could have named them anything and made them an entirely new race of humans who feed only on the blood of gantz survivors! But anyway congrats on a job well done. and i like how izumi kicked their asses to kingdom come they deserved this for what they did to the poor survivors.
Another bombastic volume of crazy deaths and insane mysterious popping up.
This was a better volume than the last for sure. This one had the end of the dino arc (thank god) and moved on to the next portion of the story. So after we finish the Dinos some new guys show up and they are THE MEN IN BLACK! Oh sorry...I mean Vampires. Yes, you heard me right. The vampires have arrived and our Gantz warriors are in trouble.
Good: The vampires are a interesting dynamic here. Also having it that Akira, Kei's brother, as part of the vampire crew is a neat idea. Will bring in some real stakes (No pun intended) and great family dynamics. The ending where the crazy dude who murdered a bunch of people goes to war with the vampires and that was badass.
Bad: The dino stuff was boring and still had a few chapters in here with them. I also thought that having so many people survive was very very un-gantz like haha.
This was a entertaining bridge volume from one saga to the next. I'm really excited to see what the future brings. A 3 out of 5.
Some people became vampires. Their enemies are Gantz players and they can only survive by drinking Gantz player's blood. Otherwise they will be having constant headaches, etc.
These vampire people can also produce different kinds of weapons from their flesh.
Who are all these people and how did they come into existence?

Myslela jsem, že dinosauři budou poslední kapkou. Ale wtf.... UPÍŘI??? Z Gantzu se stává pomalu Twilight. A to nemluvím o Tae, kterou absolutně nesnáším, stejně jako Kurona. V příštím díle má být milostný trojúhelník. Tak uvidíme. Vybere si Bella (aka Kurono) Edwarda (asi Tae??) nebo prsatou modelku (Jacob)?
Gantz continues to surprise me. There are people in black suits that can see people in the Gantz realm. I was so nervous about the old man and when he briefly got to meet his wife, I was so happy for him. Izumi is still a pain in the ass.
This was substantially better than the previous two volumes. I actually like the introduction of the vampires, and their back story gives an interesting twist from the usual vampire mythologies. There isn't an explanation as to why these vampires are enemies to the Gantz participants, but perhaps that will be filled in later. It's also a bit too coincidental that Kei's brother Akira is a vampire, but then that's kind of a typical manga trope, to setup brother against brother. Kei is become more of a genuine character, in particular with his attitude towards Tae. The fight between the vampires and Izumi was rendered very well, with lots of dynamic action, plenty of blood and sliced up bodies, and paneled in a way to give a good kinetic feel to the whole thing.
Synopsis: Gantz tells the story of a teenager named Kei Kurono, among others, who die but find themselves brought back in perfectly healthy bodies and forced to participate in a "game" where they must hunt down and kill aliens.
Review: I almost gave up on Gantz several times, but now that I've read it all the way to the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. The beginning is dragged down by repulsive and unlikable characters, a messily paced story, unnecessary sexualization and gratuitous violence without much substance. As it progresses, however, the character development becomes pretty incredible and the growing threat of the enemies feels truly well done. Once the real enemies are revealed, it's mind-blowing how the series had been secretly foreshadowing their arrival from the very beginning.
Although it takes a while, some really good characters are introduced later on in the series and they're the ones that made me want to read to the end. Some characters that were absolutely unbearable in the beginning became polar opposites of their original selves and even made me sympathize with them quite a bit. The protagonist Kei for example, I hated him with all my heart for the first third of the series, he became progressively more likable in the second third of the story and then he evolved into one of the most memorable, unlikely heroes I've ever seen in this storytelling medium throughout the final third. The last third of the series is unbelievably terrifying with some of the most gruesome and disgusting battle/survival scenes in the history of fiction. It's much more bearable and intense in the final third because this time the violence and horror is happening to people we actually care about instead of a bunch of unlikable nobodies.
The final third of the story is what made me feel so glad that I didn't give up on this series. It had me on the edge of my seat more times than I can recall. There are a ton of chapters but they're very short and full of action which makes the series a quick read despite having almost 400 chapters. So even though the first third of the story was kinda bad in my opinion, it doesn't last for long and the payoff that comes after it's over truly impressed me. It's a flawed, thrilling and horrifying action series that takes a while to kick off. When it finally kicks off, however, it kicks off extremely hard.
The final boss appears. Kurono, Izumi and the old man fight the boss. With strong will to survive, Kurono managed to kill the boss. The mission completed. Before they being teleported back to the room, their group being attack by a group of men in black (Later introduced as vampires). They kill most of them. The survivors including, Kurono, Izumi, Reika, Sakata, Sakurai, Kaze, the old man and a panda. Kurono appointed as a leader and will train them in order to survive.
Later, Kurono, Izumi, Tae and Ryouko went to Shibuya. They were attacked by a group of vampires. Izumi fight them off alone.
¿Vampiros?

As usual, you just can't guess what literary element the author brings in next. After dinosaurs... it's vampires. Well, he has his own take on them and the little story we get on them makes them a little interesting, but things popping out of like, especially the bit about Kurono's brother is just... well, kind of cliché, as it seems like just an obvious setup for a later confrontation. Also, I don't "get" Kurono's love relationship to Tae. Doesn't feel like a good romance. Way too much of the parasitic kind. I feel like she exists only to be Kurono's weak point.
In the last edition of Gantz, the group had taken on the aliens and were surprised by dinosaurs. In this edition, they complete the challenge of the dinosaurs and think they are going into an inactive period where they can go back to their regular lives. But there are always new challenges in the Gantz series. It's different with each volume but still interesting.
Ok so this series is an absolute mess, it started dealing with aliens the last two volumes were about laser-shooting dinosaurs and now they introduced vampires? Lol
However, I cannot help but really love this manga as messy and problematic as it is because of the incredible amount of fun that it provides me with.
