Following her grandfather’s dying wishes should have been easy for Riley Cullen as she packed up her life and headed to the west coast, leaving everything and everyone she had ever known behind to start over. Travel. Finish school. Don’t get married. It was easy, until her car broke down in a small beach town, putting her face to face with the man that would change her life. Landon Michel was the sole heir to his parent’s fortune, but following in their footsteps came with a price and conditions. Neither of which he was willing to pay or agree to. Being a billionaire wasn’t something he asked for, neither was being orphaned. Now they both risk losing it all, including the one thing they both want more than ever, each other. Will they realize that love is the one thing that money can't buy?
The h really aggravated me. Why did she want to wait the 2 years? I mean really? He was willing to give up household fortune and families company for you and you couldn't have married him because of some stupid stipulation her grandfather made. It's not all about you, selfish immature cow! Anyway, the cousin was a bitch the whole book. Then right at the end she's all of a sudden a nice person? What the what? Anyway, it was okay. 3 stars.
SEXY, CAPTIVATING AND IMPERFECTLY PERFECT !!! Title: The Heir Author: Ellie Danes Designation: Full-Length Standalone Alpha Billionaire Contemporary Romance, NO Cliffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: Five Captivating Stars***** I adore contemporary romance so when I'm in the mood for a sexy heartwarming read, my favorite go-to author is always Ellie Danes. I've followed Danes work since she began her career several years ago and have watched her grow from a fledgling new writer trying to find her niche to an extremely accomplished author with a true gift for creating realistic modern storylines featuring relatable, engaging characters I like to describe as imperfectly perfect. They are flawed, their lives are messy, their decisions are often questionable, and their actions are often immature but they're also intriguing, completely unpredictable, totally relatable and always very human. They make mistakes and therein lies the secret of a truly great read! Who wants to read a story in which we can predict the actions of the characters? I certainly don't! And Ellie Danes has once again delivered the 'perfect' read. The Heir is imaginative, romantic, exceptionally well-crafted and edited with a beautifully written clearly defined his and her first person narrative. My favorite! The dialogue is smart, seductive, at times humorous, easy to follow and flows effortlessly. But the pièce de résistance and my favorite component of this charming tale is the cast of well-developed characters. They are intriguing, captivating, endearing and life-like. I was immediately smitten with the two protagonists, Riley Cullen and Landon Michel. Riley was beautiful, intelligent, pragmatic, hard-working, and very down to earth, a young woman desperately trying to find her path in life and hopefully, happiness along the way. Landon was handsome, charming and born with wealth and a predestined future he saw as a disadvantage. Riley and Landon came from two vastly contrasting worlds and could not have been more different yet were absolutely perfect for each other. Their meeting was unforgettable, their interaction mesmerizing, their banter enticing, their attraction undeniable and their sexual chemistry was so hot it sizzled! Danes skillfully combines these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining modern-day fairy tale filled to the brim with heart-wrenching angst and steamy, heartwarming romance. Did I like this story? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some very steamy love scenes. Although the sex scenes are explicit and oh so dreamy, there is very little obscene language, a few words but not many. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! I never miss a release by Ellie Danes! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, my heart fluttering in my chest with the time passing as quickly as the pages. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Riley Cullen is ready for a fresh start. She's lost her mother as well as her beloved grandfather and is finally ready to put her ex-boyfriend Owen in the past and move on with her life....just as her grandfather had instructed before his death. And she plans to start by attending her friend Anna's graduation in California. What she didn't plan was having her rental car break down en route and becoming stranded in Michele's Beach, a very small town on the coast of California. Of course, it had to happen on the first anniversary of her grandfather's death. And she certainly never anticipated meeting the man of her dreams, her very own Prince Charming... the one man who could derail all of her well-laid plans and possibly cost her everything. Little did she know that fateful meeting would change her life but at what price? What would Riley be willing to sacrifice for happiness? Can you ever put a price tag on love? We'll see!
Landon Michel has the kind of life most people only dream about. He's handsome, charming, wealthy and the sole heir of his family's fortune. Unfortunately, great responsibility and a life that has already been mapped out for him also come with the deal along with conditions Landon is unwilling to accept. In his position, it's often difficult to find a woman who's truly interested in him rather than his money....until a beautiful young woman comes strolling into his best friend's bar, claiming her car broke down, and seems to have no clue who he is. Apparently, the beautiful Riley is very attracted to Landon but has no idea he lives in a castle and is the sole heir to his family's fortune. Or does she? Will Landon find the happiness he seeks? And how much is he willing to sacrifice for love? An entire family fortune??? We'll see!
The Heir is listed as a romantic comedy, but to me it was also a bit of a modern day Cinderella with twists. And I do love new versions of my favorite fairy tales! You will want to add The Heir to your TBR list and then bump it to the top, especially if you like fairy tales.
The hero and heroine, Landon and Riley, were well written and mostly likable, but I found myself constantly suspicious of the secondary characters. In fact, I downright detested Lyla, and I felt Owen was a bit of a creepy stalker. The tension and buildup between Landon and Riley was palpable, and some of their encounters were incredibly HOT! Unfortunately, both of them have family expectations and obligations that complicate their lives. Can they find their way to a happily ever after?
The plot was steady, with some twists and turns; I had a hard time putting the book down to rejoin the real world. I liked the way the story built up and didn't feel rushed or completely predictable.
This my first book by Ellie Danes, but it won't be my last. I found the writing flowed and was easy to read. I can't wait to look up other books by this author!

I loved this story! From start to finish this story is great! The heroine in this story is a young girl who has means, but refuses to use it and wants to make her way without help.
The hero is also a man of extreme wealth, and wants a future that is his own and not the legacy that has been left to him.
The pair meet by accident and with a bit of deception and manipulation the couple go on a first date. From that point on there is lots of drama and a bit of suspense. I loved every moment of it.
Landon is in no way an alpha character. He's weak and all of them are whiny. This book felt like it would never end. Very slow, very predictable, very generic.
Okay, this book felt like it would never end. And the main hero- Landon Michel is in no way an alpha male! He actually whines a lot. He is not at all grateful for the wealth he received from his parents rather he dumps his full business responsibility on his cousin Lyla. And Riley is an actual dumb head in my opinion. She forms thoughts and opinions about what Landon wants and creates a situation of misunderstanding that Landon wants his wealth (Landon's trust fund, which he gets full control of only when he gets married) and that is why he wants to propose her, without ever confronting him directly about it all. For that she is disappointed and stops the conversation with him, when he in reality is in love with her and seriously wants to get married! And in all honesty I wanted to shake some sense into Riley at times, she just made me so angry and made the story all the more long. After a while situation clears and ending is just too predictable. I finished this book because I have this habit of completing a story if I start one. Actual story is too small and is pointlessly stretched.
Landon Michel inherited his parent’s fortune but dislike the idea of so much for nothing that he fell to perform his responsibilities. The full inheritance is rewarded when he reaches the age of thirty-five and married. He hires his cousin Lyla Townsend to handles the business transactions until he reaches the age. Lyla is rude, abrupt and protected of Landon being around women because she thinks they are after his money. Riley Cullen grandfather trust fund instruction was for her to go back to school, live her dreams and don’t get married until she is twenty-eight. Riley sells her grandfather farm and move to the west coast where she meets Landon. The story was predictable but good with a weak hero and a stubborn heroine with a lazy ex-boyfriend.

I loved the building of the relationship between Riley and Landon but at times, just really wanted to "shake" the two for not being more upfront and honest! I was really NOT liking Landon's cousin, Lyla, throughout the book and never thought you would see redemption with her but was quite surprised. This is a delightful books about two individuals, from two different worlds, trying to make their relationship work! Definitely would recommend this read!
Awesome love story between the two character's in this story! The story had a lots of drama to it. Amazing stormy love storylines that we're filled sexual activity, , and exciting beginnings of these people who are involve in this story. The author did a excellent job in creating this story. Enjoy!!!
I loved this story, and like others written by Ellie Danes I found myself completely caught up in the lives of her characters. The storyline and characters were well written and developed; making this another must read by this author.
Landon has lived a very privileged life but it has been one filled with duty and keeping up appearances. Riley hasn't had things so easy, and her Grandfather was everything to her, so when he passed away she knew she had to fulfil his last wishes for her. But Riley never expected that a chance meeting with a stranger in a bar would change her life in oh so many ways. Things always happen for a reason but you don't always know why.....
I don't want to give any spoilers and ruin the book but I will say it was a great read with a HEA that won't disappoint. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted this on another website on January 12, 2017.
Riley was trying to make it to her best friend's graduation when her rental decided to die and leave her stranded in a tiny beach town. Landon was trying to avoid his hosting duties leading up to his family's big annual fund raising gala. The adventure these two embark on is filled with love, laughter and tears, both happy and sad. A wonderful story with surprises you'll both love and hate.
A very sweet heart warming love story with twist and turns around trust funds to keep both parties safe from the "wrong" person. But gets in the way of the right one!
This is a well written book. It has a great storyline and perfect characters. The story pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me hooked all the way through to the end. I really enjoyed this book. It is a standalone book with no cliffhangers.
I found this book 📖 Tedious at best. A friend of mine brought it for me as a Christmas gift 🎁 so I would feel bad if I didn’t read the book 📖. But next year I will tell to just buy me a Gift Card. But but really I am Thankful but the book was just Boring.
Great book!! I've had my woulda-coulda's in life & so have most of the rest of the people I know! Although most never got a happy ending. Good work with this one!!!
This book.....I honestly don't have the words!! It's perfect. I fell in love with this book at the very beginning. This is a story of a good guy who wants to be himself without the fame and fortune his last name comes with. He may not have been upfront from the get go, but he didn't do it to be devious or malicious. I love how the story progresses and they find each other (again). You also find out that just because you're family doesn't mean it's a bond stronger than ones you have with your best friends. I also love how her ex and bff got together and she never figured it out!
Riley Cullen is devasted when her grandfather passes away, so she's bound and determined to fulfill the final wishes he left for her. So she packed everything up, and is headed to the West Coast. But life has a way of throwing a wrench into plans, and her rental breaks down in the parking lot of The Sand Dollar. Now she's stuck over the weekend, with nowhere to stay. Luckily for her, she meets Landon, a hot guy that she feels a connection with, but believes he's another man like her ex. That doesn't change the fact that she can't stop thinking about him. Landon Michel is the heir of his parent's vast fortune, but it comes with strings that have him chomping at the bit not to become like them. When he meets Riley, she has no clue who he is, so he can't help but not tell her, as she likes him for him, and not his fortune. Between their secrets, other people and their lies, will they give up everything for love?
WOW! I LOVED every minute of this story from beginning to end. And then was left wanting more of Riley and Landon, not to mention the hilarious cast of secondaries that kept me laughing hard. Ellie Danes has a talented writing style that had me devouring this story in one sitting, and ready to beg for more. Her twists and turns seemed pat, and easy to see, but somehow she took what I believed was happening another way, that had my f-bomb dropping parade marching loud and strong! Not to mention the original twist to the billionaire genre that was seriously refreshing! I CANNOT WAIT to read more of her work in the very near future, so I'll end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING The Heir!
I absolutely loved this book and completely recommend it! Landon and Riley's love story is great. There are twists and a little drama but it is not overdone and at every turn. It has just the right amount of everything to keep the book flowing without over doing it! The Heir is well written, applause to Ellie Danes and Thank You for a very good read!
The Love story takes place across the coast lines of California. Riley's story starts out in upstate New York as her journey to fulfill her Grandfathers wishes for her, she finds herself stepping into a whole new world that she was not aware of. Love, money, betrayal, good friendships. She discovers what she really wants in her life and for herself. She finds a man she loves but can they be together since they are from two different environments? Can she live in his world? Does she belong there?
Landon Is just a real down to earth local boy, but the world sees him as this billionaire playboy. Almost everyone wants something from him, specially his crazy cousin Layla. The woman is a crazy workaholic and wants to control and take over everything in Landon's life. Landon just wants to expand the knowledge of his legacy not take advantage of it like others and actually live life. Landon meets Riley and she treats him like a normal person and wants nothing from him but time together and his love. Does he have to give up everything to keep the woman that he loves? Will he be willing to?
This book was SO much fun to read. It is always nice to read a book that has humor and doesn’t have any major roadblocks. I love that Lyla was a hard-ass and pushed Landon. I loved Landon’s friend Andrew, I loved Riley’s friend Anna. This book overall has a little bit of everything. And by the end you have a great ending for everyone.
A year after Riley’s grandfather’s death she finally sells his house and moves across the country to be with her best friend Anna and also has broken up with her boyfriend Owen. She wants to drive from San Francisco to Santa Cruz and on the way her rental car breaks down. There she meets Landon Michel. Who is the billionaire who when it starts has a huge gala the next night. Riley doesn’t know who he is but they are instantly drawn to each other.
I don’t have enough words to describe my love of this book. Riley and Landon are both awesome and I feel that for their situation their drama is real. I loved everything about this book without exception. Everyone needs to read it!!
You won't see it coming, but the story of Landon and Riley has a major twist that will have you tearing up when you realize the depth of their feelings for each other. This one is really hard to put down. Ellie has fully developed the two main characters and has added interest with the supporting cast of Lyla, Andrew, Anna, and Owen. Even Riley's grandpa plays a critical role in the outcome. Each character brings a unique perspective to the story and adds even more depth to the layers surrounding Landon and Riley. I hope you enjoy reading their story as much as I have. Cheers for The Heir!
The story of Landon and Riley. They meet when her rental car breaks down at the local beach bar while on her way to a friends graduation. The two become friends go on one date and something happens on that date and they are separated for a few month. During which time they can't stop thinking of each other and end up running into each other again at a college where Landon is giving a dedication speech and shortly after rekindle their romance. But then they both get caught in a Inheritance Trap. The story is very predictable. But it's a really sweet quick read. I liked it, just didn't love it
This was a new-to-me author and I enjoyed reading this book. The suspense, the drama, the deceit, and more all made for a great story. However, my only complaint is that it lagged in parts and I often found myself setting my kindle down or getting distracted by other things. Now don't get me wrong, the overall storyline was great and when the "action" was in play, I was glued to my kindle. I did muddle through it and I'm glad I did because Landon and Riley's story was good. I do look forward to reading more from Ellie Danes in the future.
