A great call-to-action book that highlights really obvious points that aren't even considered by most consumers who purchase bottled water. The edition I read was revised last year, so the statistics are largely accurate up to 2006. Also, readers are requested to visit the associated website (www.insidethebottle.org) to offer additional information and updates if they happen to hear of any political or governmental activities associated with EPA violations or lawsuits.

The book is heavily researched, with an entire endnotes section at the end of the book with all of the references used, but it does depend on anti-bottling sources so it has a kind of reverse spin it's casting. Also, there are a couple pages where sentences simply end with no continuation of that same sentence at all; apparently the release of the revised edition was rushed because of those instances as well as some obvious grammatical and formatting errors.

Valid points discussed include environmental hazards caused by water bottles themselves as well as chemicals that seep into those bottles, water overuse, price gouging, and media spin by water bottle companies. Also pointed out is the fact that tap water is readily accessible and dramatically cheaper than bottled water (so much so that bottled water is more expensive than gasoline purchased for automobiles) and in some cases is safer to drink than bottled water.

An eye-opener of a book that is reader-friendly and informative.
