Speed, Data, and Ecosystems: Excelling in a Software-Driven World

Rate this book
As software R&D investment increases, the benefits from short feedback cycles using technologies such as continuous deployment, experimentation-based development, and multidisciplinary teams require a fundamentally different strategy and process. This book will cover the three overall challenges that companies are grappling speed, data and ecosystems. Speed deals with shortening the cycle time in R&D. Data deals with increasing the use of and benefit from the massive amounts of data that companies collect. Ecosystems address the transition of companies from being internally focused to being ecosystem oriented by analyzing what the company is uniquely good at and where it adds value.

Listening to Jan kind of quickly brings clarity to such a big subject. Jan puts a road map to transformation. This book says you just need to focus on Speed, Data and Ecosystems and it will happen. He also puts the stages of transformation. The discussion focuses more on R&D, but can be scaled to organization. Its one of most practical approaches I found coming from a Software Systems background. This book is a gem and takes you right into the future of systems. The writer's background of VP Engineering and today a Professor and heading Software Center is evident in handling the subject.
