Between Heaven And Hell

Rate this book
Cordae “Demon” Vitale. People feared me. They respected me. I was the Boss of the Vitale family at twenty-two. One of the youngest in history. I ran my business exceptionally. My emotions were never part of this life. Ava made me realize that there was more to life than what I had. She pushed me to limits I didn’t think I could go to. At the end of the day, I was forced between heaven and hell. Much like the rest of my life, I was teetering on that fine line in between. Losing something that means a lot to you, can change a person. It changed me. I will travel to the ends of the earth to get back that one thing that meant the most to me. I will destroy everyone in my path to make that happen. "Death is all I have to look forward to. The devil was once an angel but that can never be reversed. I can't be reversed. How is the devil to love an angel?"

I am a wife, mother, child chauffeur and author. I love being able to create different characters and spin a web that makes them come together in the end. My books do not stick to just one genre, they span many.

I write about things that are real life situations and fairy tales are not always smooth sailing. My MC books are hard and gritty and they have struggles just like you would in life.

I also have books that are not so in your face. There are several that are good love stories that are fraught with issues that the characters have to deal with.

Title: ➳ ❤ Between Heaven And Hell:

Author: ➳ Erin Trejo

ღ careful for what you ask for cuz you might just get it. I ask for a dark read & Erin Trejo gave me one. This is new author for me & trust me this wouldn’t be my last book from her

♥●• Cordae (Cord) Demon Vitale was MMA fighter until his dying uncle handed him the reins to family business. At the ripe age of twenty three Cord is now the crime Boss of the Vitale family

➦Cord find heaven in a blue eye beauty. The first time Cord lay eyes on Ava was at his MMA match.. He has dream of his angel for over year now, before he see her again in Lil clinic on the wrong side of town. Working as nurse’s assistant.

”There’s a thin line between heaven and hell. I would know. I walk on that line every single day waiting to tip and fall into one place or the other.”
Can Cord keep his darkness away from his angel?

♥●• Ava Sinclair, Mayor's daughter forced to work as nurse at a Lil clinic Cuz her rich father control of her life & finances. He gives her a weekly allowance.

➦Ava find herself face to face darkness, somehow she see light flickering & she reaches for that light only to have it distinguish just as she gets close to it.
My heart drop when I see that last word To Be Continued – but no worries Ladies, I turn the page & there was part 2.. Sigh – but happy one

📚 This was a very fast paced & very brutal & honest. Like any good Mafia book, you’ll find there is drama, action, death, Secrets, lies, deceit & of course betrayal- but you’ll also find that is some very dark 💕 romance . A few twists & turn alone the way

💞. I struggling to find the words for how much this book has affected me & the only thing that coming to mind is WOW!!!

➦📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion

➦ 💕 I highly recommend this book.

➦ 💕 I received an EXCLUSIVE copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of it. 💕

The reviews for this book were outstanding when I picked it up to read unfortunately my feelings are a lot more mixed and I’m going to try my best to explain them to you.

There’s a thin line between heaven and hell. I would know. I walk on that line every single day waiting to tip and fall into one place or the other.
I’ve grown accustomed to this line, though. Complete opposites. Heaven is bright and full of hope whereas hell is dark and full of fire. I crave them both.
I’m on the precipice of tumbling to one or the other.
Never knowing which way I’ll fall, I live life the way I’ve always lived it.
The only way I know how.

It sounded so good and parts of it are.
Cord’s an unlikeable ass he treats women as whores and everyone as if they’re disposable. I know he’s supposed to be like this and some of my friends would love him and how totally uncompromisingly he is.

This review is going to be all over the place because I’m all over the place with this book.

I got increasingly annoyed by Cord repeatedly telling me he was a dark man, a monster, a demon undeserving of love. I know he’s dark his actions speak for themselves I absolutely hated being told all the time.

But that said, even though he did terrible things like ordering the death of innocent children he never seemed truly evil or unredeemable which I assume is because we were in his head.
I’ve read books where men did less yet seemed so much worse.

I love a dual POV book and this started out like that but then it switches to just Cord and that worked for the majority of the book but there were times when we needed more, we needed Ava’s POV to fill in the gaps particularly for the 5 missing years.

I don’t understand... at the end of part 1 Cord has left Ava part 2 continues but it’s 5 years later and he finally finds and kills Daniel but and here’s the part I don’t understand

Leaving Ava was the right thing to do but a while after I killed Gambino, she left.
I lost track of her but after I knew she was safe, I had no reason to keep tracking her.

So for 5 years Ava was close and Cord was keeping an eye on her but once he killed Daniel he didn’t need to watch her anymore.
That makes sense but...
So how did he not know about the pregnancy?
How did her father not know about the pregnancy?
And after she’d given birth how could she hide a child from them, Cord apparently knows everything that happens in his city how could he not know about his own child?

She either has a way longer gestation period than an elephant or they completely missed it.
I went back and re-read it again and again but I just couldn’t get it to make sense.

Am I too picky?

Yes I am and I hate it, I wish I could just go with it and not stress over the small stuff but I need a book to make sense.

I felt part one was jumpy I wanted more details and gaps filled in. I didn’t understand why Daniel killed Amelia like he did he didn’t know for sure that Cord wouldn’t deal but by killing her he lost any bargaining power he had.

There were lots of things that bothered me with this book but I’m sick of writing this review and if anyone’s read this far I’m sure you’ve had enough as well.

For all my moaning it’s not a bad book I think it’s a case of it’s me not the book so don’t let my review put you off.
I just wish I wasn’t so bloody picky.

This book is definitely dark Mafia. Cord and Ava are the "never can happen in a million years ". I totally love a story when a couple beat the odds!

Cord is the Boss of the Vitale family. Ava is the mayor's daughter with zero control of her life and finances. Nothing is as it seems with Cord or Ava. There are forces in play to destroy them. Forces from the most unlikely allies.

The story is a bit choppy. I wish some of the scenes could be a bit more developed. The characters are a bit detached and seemed a bit forced. The storyline is definitely there, the delivery is a bit off. However, the mafia angle, the betrayal, and Cord's black soul pulled the story to the other side of 3.5 stars. His sacrifice and the events leading up to the sacrifice kicked the story to 4 stars!

4 stars!!!

Between Heaven And Hell: A Vitale Mafia Story

If i had to describe Between Heaven and Hell in one word it would definitely be Phenomenal!!!

This dark twisted erotic mafia read kept me on my toes.

"There’s a thin line between heaven and hell".

Cordae Demon Vitale is a troubled soul with a dark past. His uncle handed him the reins as the Vitale Boss just before he passed away.

Everything in is world is dark until he meets Ava the mayor's daughter the girl with “The eyes of an angel.”

Everything in Cord is telling him to stay away from her as he is darkness and she is light.

He knows nothing good can come from being with her but he just cant seem to let her go.

Can Ava be the light to save Cord from the darkness???

This book will not disappoint. Erin has proven she is an extremely talented author time and time again.
One click you won't regret it !!!

I was given an ARC of Between heaven and hell for my honest opinion. I simply loved this story. I'm a big mafia romance lover so I knew once I started the book that I was going to enjoy it!! Vitale captured my attention and took my heart along for the ride. He had so much darkness to him and he was seeking someone that was his light even though he fought it. When he fell he fell hard. He was scared of getting close to anyone and loving them because he thought his darkness would consume that person. I love the ending also. What a way to end it Erin!! He found that light he was seeking in his love for one woman that consumed his heart and soul. I gave this book 5*'s because it wouldn't let me give it more that it so deserves!

Between Heaven and Hell: A Vitale Mafia Story
I love mafia stories and this one didn't disappoint. I was like NO it can't end like that but thank goodness part 2 is included.
This is a dark mafia romance. Cord is the boss of the Vitale family and Ava is the mayor's daughter. They are not suppose to fall for each other. There is drama, action, death, love and heartbreak and that is just the first part of the book.
Part 2 Cord pushed Ava away for her on safety and now he is doing all he can to get here back only to have someone betray him. What is he to do but put her safety first again but in doing so will he get the girl when all is said and done.
This is an intense read and very hard to put down once started.
I received a copy for an honest review.

Between Heaven and Hell: A Vitale Mafia Story Book 1 by Erin Trejo

Mafia bad boy!!!!!I could not get enough of this book. Erin has created a glimpse into the life of a mafia boss and what it takes to stay on top while keeping the reader engaged in the pages.

We get to meet the main characters Cordae (Cord) Vitale and Ava Sinclair. This book starts out in the first few chapters of meeting the characters Cord is a fighter and meets Ava at a party after the fight is over. Fast forward 1 year and Cord is the Boss of the Vitale family and Ava is the Mayor’s daughter. These two grew up in different but similar worlds. Ava was kept on a tight leash and didn’t get to experience the world around her due to her dad being over protective. While Cord was has seen and lived the seedy world of the mafia with murder, drugs, guns and family.

This story is very complex with many moving parts. Ava and Cord meet accidently when Cord is asked to provide a DNA sample to determine if he has a sister from his father and Ava was the lab technician to draw his blood. The story takes off from there. Cord has many issue with his emotions and the need to keep them hidden to show he is a ruthless Mafia Boss that is not to be messed with. He believes emotions show weakness and therefore he pushes away anything and anyone.

For the reader there is a lot of emotions in this book happiness, sadness and full on angry. To say that I really wanted to slap Cord and Ava both would be an understatement. The circumstances they find themselves are frightening and intriguing at the same time. Secrets, lies, deceit and murder what more could a reader want…..HEA for our main characters?

The ending of this book left me with a sense of incompleteness where I wanted to shout NO WAY!!!! You can’t keep me hanging like this and then I turned the page and there was book 2……….YES!!!!!

Book 2
I obviously don’t want to tell you what happens at the end of book on that would spoil the surprise. This book takes place 5 years later and life has not become any easier for our characters. Cord learns that Ava is missing and uses all the resources at his disposal to find her.
I have to say I’m struggling writing the review for book 2 because there is so much that happens in this book and to me it is all pivotal to the remaining story. I feel I can say the lies, deceit, murder and the emotional roller coaster continue throughout this entire book. There are loyalty issues and the story gets very complicated that cause me to slow down to ensure that I didn’t miss something.
The chemistry between Cord and Ava was there but didn’t feel very electric. I believe Erin wrote it this way on purpose to give a sense of how Cord was hiding his feelings for Ava. Remember showing a weakness can get you killed so I believe it was written beautifully to help us get the sense of this relationship.
There are some very tense moments in this book and many tears were shed with the ending surprising me.

If you love a good mafia bad boy who is charge of the family and lives in a world with murder, lies, deceit, love, heartache, betrayal and loyalty then this is the perfect book for you. He gets what he wants when he wants it. That is what having the city at your fingertips gets you.

I highly recommend this book.

Between Heaven and Hell is Cord and Ava's story. And what a dark, twisted and erotic story it is.
Cord is the "boss" of the family, he lives in the dark, seedy side of life. People fear him, and for good reason, he is an emotional vacuum.
Ava is a beautiful woman, full of light, innocence, and goodness. The complete opposite to Cord.
However when these two meet their worlds will never be the same again, literally!
Ava will learn that her life is not what she thought, people are not what they seem and that sometimes the dark is the only place to find salvation.
Ava's innocence and light enters Cord's world and turns it on its head, leaving Cord craving her.
A story full of dark feelings, actions and people, lost innocence, betrayal and tragedy. Is it possible to overcome a lifetime of conditioning??
I love, love, loved this book!! If you love a gritty, emotional, mafia story then you have to read this!!!!

Twisty Dark Mafia Story

Cord is the darkness and Ava is the light. Cord knew he was no good for Ava and five more years proved just that. At the ripe old age of twenty three Cord is now the crime boss of the Vitale family and he knows he can show no mercy to any that oppose him. Ava is all goodness but her father has a very tight leash on her with controlling her life and her finances. Even though Cord is full of darkness it's Ava that sees a hidden light that's within him.

This author knows how to put the twists and turns in her books that has you turning page after page. It is full of darkness, drama, deceit and betrayal. As with most of this author's books you won't be able to put it down.

Not your typical mafia love story. Selfishness can be seen as protection or rejection. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Their interpretation depends on how they were raised and who they are now.

When your choice of who are want to be and who you are destined to be, is taken away from you, your own defense is survival.

Cord Vitale dreamed of a different life, but that was all it could be. His world was dangerous and with that his choice to cut all emotions is his way of life. Finding he has a sister in need, his only choice is to bring her into his home, provide for her and protect her. When fate brings to light the danger of his world, the intensity of his guilt that he lives with everyday, proves to himself, he can never have his dream of having a family. It would be his weakness.

Ava's love for Cord has brought her happiness and sadness. The back and forth with Cord, his distance and then the intimacy and love snippets he has given her, gives her the courage to accept the decisions she has made to keep her daughter, along with her heart safe and hidden from the one person who could destroy them all.

The inner fight of each character has the ability to bring your own heart to breaking with the longing and love they have for one another. Finding the right path of life is an unfair circumstance when it's expected to be the way of the family, but when you find you want to take a different path, the ending consequences may not be what you wanted, only what you have.

Loved Cord's dominance but his intimacy that shows when he is with Ava. The willingness Ava finds in loving Cord is an overwhelming desire that feeds all that is great with a love so palpable.

Cold ,Ruthless and absolutely riveting !
Wow - that is the first thing that comes to mind after reading this story.
If you are looking for a sexy romantic mafia story - THIS IS NOT IT!!
Cold - Dark - Calculated - Ruthless = The Vitale Family

Cordae has been raised, bred and groomed to be the next boss .
This is his story from his point of view .
There is no glamour , no fluff, no happily ever after in his world .
There is darkness
There is death
There is betrayal
Above all there is the commitment to the Familia .

If you are looking for a gritty mafia suspense that will mess with your psyche - this is your story !

I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.

"Death is all I have to look forward to. The devil was once an angel but that can never be reversed. I can't be reversed. How is the devil to love an angel?"

Cold and forbidding, this story is quite bleak. Harsh characters and situations reveal the very unforgiving nature of survival in the mafia. The lifestyle whilst opulent and filled with pleasures only the powerful can readily have, the Boss of the Vitale family is a very austere man. Born into a world of violence and pain he has been honed to become the Boss of the family from an early age. Controlling the family with an iron fist, without even a glimpse of emotion he is infamous for his cold heart and ruthlessness. When a call for blood must be answered his life takes a different path to the one he had foreseen. With his life lived in the darkness will he be able to accept the light that is creeping in?

Between Heaven and Hell is my first read by this author and I was drawn in by the bad boy mafia boss and the darkness of the blurb. I was immersed in the dog eat dog world of power hungry families that hide behind a veneer of civility whilst in reality they lose no sleep over the execution of women, children and men to ensure their business is successful. The story is written to reflect the characters situation and the harshness of their lives which on the surface seem one of privilege. The plot is a slow burn with the lead character only releasing his mistakes after suffering greatly. There is suspense, intrigue, double crossing and a flame of attraction that cannot be denied. The story has tragic elements but they are fundamental to the development of the characters. I really enjoyed this story and couldn't put it down until I knew how it ended. No higher praise for a story can be given in my opinion!

A four and a half star read.

Well. Holy Crap Batman- I just spent the last two hours lost in this dark mafia tale... what a ride that was! I loved every freaking moment of it!
Folks this isn't a fluff piece, this is an Erin Trejo book. You are going to get an emotional beast dark, edgy, full of frustration, ( I don't know how many times in the two hours I yelled out " really" ) sexy honest book.
I am just sorry it took me so long to sit down and read this crazy sexy ride! 5 Stars ++++++++++ I recommend this to anyone who likes the dark side of mafia!

description
Dark mafia… oh the chills… and feels….
This genre has, straight up, some of the most twisted and dark stories I have ever read. Granted, my world was Nancy Drew for many, many years but still… There is, however, mafia and mafia. Like any ‘type’ of story there are flavours to be found in even the most niche of subjects with spectrums from light to dark, violence to comedy, etc, etc. For this one…. Hang onto your nightlights, it is going to be a dark night…
Cordae “Demon” Vitale did not earn his name by selling Girl Scout cookies. (I hope not!) Yet at the same time, I couldn’t help but feel for the turmoil he felt. He was no choir boy but that didn’t mean there was another side to him… When he is usually the one causing the turmoil, having his own emotions involved meant this strong, and (at times) unfeeling, man became anything but…
Ava, given her family, must be a pampered princess. Of course she must. Getting past the surface though meant seeing who she really was. And finding someone entirely different…
This story was powerful in a message of love and strength, about things that aren’t what they seem. There is intrigue, violence, betrayal and at the heart of it, an anti-sweet romance. This is two books in one – with both parts included – and thank goodness for that because the cliffhanger at the end of the first half would have otherwise induced kindle-worthy Olympic-event throwing! The story was intense. I may have wanted to feel the characters’ emotions a bit more at times however I couldn’t help but get caught up in their love, their lives, and their search for more.
“In every darkness there has to be a light.”
A new author for me and I’m hooked!

Between Heaven and Hell is another 5-star read by Erin Trejo. It is a dark, suspenseful, emotional mafia story. The best way I can describe it is you get the dark side, the light side, and everything in between.

One of the things I loved about the storyline was how Cordae had this image of himself and believed because he was the darkness that he had no room in his life for love. He felt he didn’t deserve to be loved and that anyone and everyone in his life would eventually die due to the lifestyle he lived in. In his eyes, he was the Demon and was going straight to hell. He lived with internal demons and those demons made him good at being at the head of the well-known Vitale family.

Then Ava came into his life. He viewed her as pure, innocent, and an angel. There was just something about Ava and he couldn’t stay away. He pushed and pushed her away but she always ended up back in his life. She also helped him when Amelia (his little sister he never knew he had) came into his life. But Amelia’s death destroyed Cordae therefore pushing Ava completely out of his life. But once Ava went missing and then he found out he had a child whom was kidnapped—Cordae knew exactly what he needed. Once he found out that someone close to him had caused the kidnappings- he realized what family was. That was Ava and his daughter Amee. He needed his family. And he would do anything to keep them safe and in his life.

“In every darkness there has to be a light. There are always shadows that dance in the dark but without that light, we would have nothing.” –Cordae

Heaven and Hell, Cord and Ava are light and dark. I really enjoyed the Mafia story however I did find part 1 of this jumped quickly and I did not overly feel their connection, physically yes but not emotionally. Sections of this story were not fully explained, Ava’s parents, Daniel being warned off, why did he do that and then not monitor her if he was interested and then to just happen upon her at the clinic. He then says he knows all about her?

I easily followed Ava and her emotional connection to Amelia but with Cord I did not and then with the ending of part 1, his actions did not make sense because I had not believed he even barely interacted with Amelia for him to feel his loss and heartbreak, I can understand the anger but that was because he was the boss and he was taken by surprise.

Now onto Park 2 - this is where the story just blew it out of the park, I thought the pacing action of the underlying Mafia story was perfect and then it was like a light was switched on and I could understand and feel Cord through the writing, I just wish this had happened in Park 1, although Amelia's part was sad it did not overly upset me as she was really barely in the story line apart from a few odd paragraphs. It would have been better to see more regular interactions between those two characters to see a build-up of affection and acceptance with each other to then understand the devastation. I know I keep harping on about Amelia but I do believe she was a pivotal character to Cord’s make up as a man and his emotional wellbeing and it was the start of him unravelling his cold demeanour and perhaps dreaming of having a family and being worthy of love.

I was surprised and excited with the new character in part 2 in Italy, however again would have loved to have seen a more detailed conversation between Cord and Ava on those lost years - I wanted to know more!

The sex scenes between Cord and Ava were very enjoyable. Ava was just a lovely character, I also would have liked to have known more about her family in part 1 as it was just fast forwarded over her and also perhaps a couple of chapters on her relationship with Gambino would have tied things together. I would have liked to have seen Daniel and Cord early on having that conversation where Cord told him to never see Ava again instead of just hearing it second hand from Cord in a conversation with one of his men. Was Daniel with Ava because her father was the Mayor? Was there a gentleman’s agreement to date his daughter? Her mother too, never saw her then she was another storyline?

I am wondering whether this would have flowed better with perhaps Ava having some POV chapters at critical moments in their relationship - particularly in Italy, with Amelia, her own family and also Daniel.

An enjoyable Mafia story, I really did love these two main characters and Cord definitely had moments of pure darkness then Ava would show him the light and give him hope.

Favourite Quote: “It means my beautiful girl.” Ava smiles and the rest of the world ceases to exist. In this moment, she is the girl that brought light into my soul.

This was a dark and compelling story. Cord heads the Vitale Mafia. He is an intense and dangerous man, but Ava brings out some of the best in him. Cord doesn't feel like he deserves to be loved because of the darkness in him. They go through a lot of ups and downs throughout the book, and some of it is absolutely heartrending. When Cord discovers he has a sister who needs his help, things start to spiral out of control. He pushes Ava away time and again, thinking he's protecting her, yet not able to convey his real thoughts and fears. There is angst, a lot of danger, despair and love and hope here. A truly awesome mafia romance. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

The story is similar to Godfather with the mafia theme. There is a lot of evil things that Cordae needs to do to run his family. He believes he is a monster and does not need to have someone in his life that he cares about since there is so much violence around him. He meets Ava and no matter how much he tries to push her away he keeps coming back to her. He puts his sister, his daughter and Ava in the path of destruction due to his affiliation with the mob. Good story with lots of action and twists. Great ending. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I knew this book was going to be good before I started and I was right it was absolutely incredible! Cord Vitale is a mafia boss, a young one at that. He falls for the Governor’s daughter, Ava Sinclair, but because he’s a mafia boss he pushes her away. He still thinks about her even five years later. One day Ava’s dad shows up out of the blue to tell him Ava is missing and asks for his help. This book is dark, twisted, and filled with violence, betrayal, action, and love. It’s a definite must read!

Have mercy! This book had me wiped out and energized at the same time. The emotions and feelings of the characters were so raw and intense. They had me in tears at one point, my heart aching for them and at other times I was wanting to just shake them for their stubbornness. The book is packed with danger, action, betrayal, lust and love. Cord and Ava will test your boundries of what are you willing to endure, accept and do for love. What is too far? Not enough? Check out this book and see what these two do. Worth every second spent reading!!! Love this book. A definite must have!

I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Cord was brought into this world by darkness and has lived in darkness his whole life. Ava is the light. She is good and pure and everything Cord could never be or deserve. When they come together, they are explosive. Light and darkness cannot survive together. Or can they?

Another book Erin, another genre, another hit. I do enjoy a mafia story and this is one of those lovely dark ones that twist your mind and makes you question yourself, Cord Vitale, mafia boss, cold hearted killer you should hate. Ava Sinclair , mayors daughter forced to work as nurse at a little clinic because he rich father holds on to her accounts , she’s a sensible intelligent albeit naive and everything in her body should tell her to stay away from Cord by she can’t and her life changes forever

He was both respected and feared by everyone,as the head of the Vitale Crime family. He was the devil in disguise and a soul to match.
She was the daughter of a politician, who was as dirty as hell. She just wanted out to live her life, but kept getting pulled back in. She was his heavenly angel two saves his soul.
Together they keep each other sane in this crazy, dangerous world.
He doesn’t want to taint her, but she is an angel with dirty wings. She is seeing that there is good in him. They find their love between heaven and hell. That’s all the devil and his angel can ask for.
