Penny Sanders is happy with her life in Nowhere, Texas. She’s been adopted by a wonderful elderly couple who are determined to be good parents for her and her sisters, and she has a good job doing what she loves best. When a handsome stranger wanders into the mercantile where she works, she is immediately attracted to him, but she’s unsure if she can trust him beyond a business relationship. While his eyes make her heart beat faster, she is cautious, not wanting to ruin the good life she has. Tom McClain is a man who believes very strongly in fate. The youngest of seven brothers, he has always known where he was going, if not when he’d arrive there. When he sees Penny sitting at her work table, he knows she’s the woman who will complete him, and he immediately sets to the task of convincing her. Will he be able to make her understand that they’re meant to be together? Or will her overwhelming family get the better of him?
Penny Sanders is the adopted daughter of my favorite character Edna Petunia. Penny is a wonderful addition to this series. I loved how she was going to give Edna Petunia's wishes to plan a wedding. Oh how I was looking forward to this. It was so wonderful to see this come to pass. Tom and Penny together was a nice and fun romance. I love this series.
Can you imagine adopting 15 girls? I can’t but Cletus and his wife did and 4 of the girls married so quickly that none had weddings. The fifth girl has found someone to court. Will she have a wedding? What is her destiny? These questions and more will be answered in this book. I personally was surprised and extremely happy with the ending.
I absolutely loved this book.A bit different than the others butOh what a great read.I couldn't put it down so I am up in the middle of the night finishing it.Dont miss this one.
Penny was one of my favorite Orlan Orphan books. Her story was just a little different from her "sisters" which made it a bit more interesting. Love how Kirsten Osbourne always manages to bring an eligible bachelor to the town of Nowhere for one of the "orphans". Love this series.
This one was slightly different from the others but mostly in just one key aspect which I won't mention in order not to spoil it for other readers. It was a pleasant and quick read which like the others was predictable, but good for a quick and entertaining lighthearted type novel.
Again, a wonderful book by Kirsten Osbourne. This book is so full of love for children-children without real parents of their own. Do not miss reading this book.
I adored this series, it makes my heart happy ever time a new one comes out. Tom and Penny are great characters, so full of life and very realistic. I loved the background for Tom and his families history of the 7th son. A must read!
Tom McClain knew at age five he would marry a seamstress named Penny. He thought he would be thirty or so before it happened but he was only twenty-five. Penny Sanders Is one of Edna Petunia and Cletus Sanders bastards and she's proud of it! When Tom approaches her about making shirts for him, not only is she amazed by his size but she is dazzled by hi slate Gray eyes. However she proceeds cautiously as she doesn't want to be like all her sisters in Nowhere, Texas and marry in haste. So she puts poor Tom through the test of meeting her crazy family. But being Tom's destiny and his stellar kisses soon have her in love. But again she tests poor Tom as she wants a proper proposal. Following a less than perfect poem and a beautiful ring, Penny gives Edna Petunia something she has always desired; a wedding to plan. Somehow everyone survives the planning and the seventh son of the McClains marries to start their new traditions and boy do they go big! Kirsten Osbourne's words come smoking off the page in this long awaited book, and it was worth the wait!
There is not a single book of Kirsten Osbourne's that I do not love. Each one is better than the last. I don't know how she does it. How do you improve on perfection? Of the Orlan Orphan series, Penny is my favorite. Her story is so beautifully written. Penny is one of 15 orphaned girls adopted by Cletus and Edna Petunia Sanders, an older couple with much love to give. Tom McClain, the 7th son of a 7th son, etc, etc, etc..., has known since he was 5 years old who he was going to marry, and when he hears about Penny, he hurries to meet her. She is the local seamstress so he hires her to make him shirts to have a reason to talk to her. Tom ends up asking Cletus permission to court Penny and he says ok. Edna Petunia announces that they WILL give her time to play a wedding. After spending a few days getting to know each other, Tom asks Penny to marry him (with a written poem) and she says, "yes"! Will Edna Petunia finally get to plan a wedding?
You are going to have to work hard to outdo yourself now, because I do believe this is my favorite of the Orphan series and possibly off all your books I have read....and I have read a lot - if not all!
I have enjoyed every minute that I have been reading Kirsten Osbourne. Edna Petunia and her peppermint sticks are always amusing. I am glad one of the eastwards let her plan the wedding.
A fun twist to the Orlan Orphans series, with a match between the seventh son of a seventh son and a practical young woman who comes to realize that sometimes there really is a purpose for everything that happens in the world.
Another awesome book in the series, this series will keep you waiting for the next book. Love this author and everyone of her books I have read so far.
Every time I see there's a new Orlan's Orphans book available, I get excited. I've enjoyed reading about the group of orphan girls who were sent out west to an uncertain future and found a loving home. I love seeing each of them find love, and Penny's story was no exception.
I enjoyed this quick read. Penny is one of the more sensible of the Sanders girls. Her love for Edna Petunia and willingness to please the woman makes her even more lovable. Tom is Penny's perfect foil. His family is just as weird as hers, though in a different way. I found their courtship more relatable than some of the others in the series.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick clean read with plenty of humor and quirkiness mixed in with the romance.
