The end has come. The army of the ‘silent ones’ is sweeping across the land, annihilating towns and cities; slaughtering all they encounter. In a desperate bid to save the lives of uncounted innocents, the allied forces of elf, dwarf, and human, must face these savage and seemingly unstoppable warriors. But the silent ones are unlike any enemy the people of Lumnia have faced before - corrupted and made enormously strong by the vile magic of Shinzan. They do not care who is friend or who is foe. They do not feel fear or pity. And they will never stop. For the silent ones do not fight for victory. They have but one purpose - to bring death to the world.
Though Ethan’s power could save many lives should he join in this fight, his path lies elsewhere. The rendezvous with destiny is at hand. He will battle Shinzan one final time. But first, he must face the choice he has avoided from the moment he arrived. And that decision will determine the fate of all races…and Lumnia herself.

Known as one of the O.G. independent authors of the 2010-2012 indie explosion, Brian D. Anderson gained massive popularity right out of the gate with his debut series, The Godling Chronicles. His follow-up series, Dragonvein, was just as popular, Book One becoming a Top Five Finalist on Audible.com for Fantasy Book of the Year in 2015 – becoming the very first independent to reach the finals. But Anderson was far from finished.
After co-authoring Akiri with Steven Savile (Warhammer, Pathfinder, Dr. Who, and Sherlock Holmes) Anderson became the first independent author in history to secure a six-figure audio only deal for his highly anticipated two-book sequel of The Godling Chronicles.
Anderson continued with his indie career with The Vale series. But even after twenty novels, he felt there was more to accomplish. So he secured a three-book deal with Tor Books for The Sorcerer’s Song series.
When not writing, Brian D. Anderson divides his time enjoying his friends and family at home in the sleepy little southern town of Fairhope, Alabama, and riding atop his Harley Davidson, dubbed The Mighty Puck, traveling the country from convention to convention, meeting fans and signing books.

At first glance, Dragonvein appears to be your typical trope-filled fantasy with magic, dragons, dwarves, and elves. But there are enough variations and twists to keep the reader interested. In addition, the characters are quite compelling too. I read the entire series (five books), - it never got dull and the payoff at the end is worth it.

I literally just listened to the last word of this book. It's hard to believe this is the same series. It's not that the book is awful, it's not. The book is ok. But compared to the series as a whole and knowing this is the last book, it doesn't give me the "WOW! What an ending! Its finally over" type of feeling. Instead, it more like "wow. that's it?"

Let me explain. 1st the book is called Dragonvein. Yet we only get 1 short battle and 1 flight scene with a dragon in it. In the finale the Dragon(s) should be going all out. It should be a dragon filled finale. That doesn't happen. 2nd The author did a good job on some of the early battles in the book, but the final battle between our main character and the villain is actually boring. 3rd Playing the psychological games went on too long before the last fight. The first scene was fine but then it was overdone.

I'm out of charter space, so I'll just end with my opinion that this finale doesn't match well with how well the series built up to this point. I feel like the author just wanted to wrap it in a bow and ship it off.

A satisfying conclusion

While some parts of the story is a chore to wade through, and there's little revelation in this part of the story, the final fight and the conclusion was satisfying.

bit slower than the others.....and got a bit tired of various characters always "steepling their fingers beneath their chins"! Glad its over and I can get on to reading something a bit less borrowed from every other well known author.

Predictable and familiar. If that does not bother you then it is a good tale to enjoy.

I really enjoyed this entire series. I listened to all 5 audiobooks while I worked. I enjoyed the explanation behind the Dwarves, Elves, Humans and Dragons living together and why they felt the way they did about each other. This book made me think about many different topics, thank you Brian D. Anderson.

A Great Ending

This is a great tale told in a way that made me read the books quickly never wanting to put them down. This last one does what most do not, it ends the story wrapping everything up but leaving just enough open to spur your own imagination.

After all the mixing and stirring, and adding parts of other series in not too aggressive way, the denouement is a bit under the expectations.

A nice finish

This book does a good job at wrapping up an expansive number of story lines. In fact, I have no issues with this book's conclusion of an overall enjoyable series.

Fantastic Read!

I was first introduced to the author, Brian Anderson, when I thought, mistakenly, that he was the author who was chosen to complete the Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan: an author that I adored and avidly waited for the next book from with bated breath. It wasn't "him"! Wrong author! But what a happy accident when I downloaded this author instead! I downloaded the first book in this series "to try". I was lost. I couldn't read each offering fast enough and was constantly worried that I would eventually come to...the "last" book in the series. Eventually, inevitably, I did reach the end, but oh what an adventure.

This Series will definitely deliver for you that oh so illusive reading nirvana.

I have enjoyed this series.

This series was great the entire way through its a book that has got me to read and I don't like to read. I have recommended this series to many of my friends and those who have read it have enjoyed it also.

First and foremost, I don't know if my rating would be the same if this book was the first and not the fifth book in the series. I truly wanted to enjoy this with the same enthusiasm I had for the first book. However, I think the story should have ran its course by the fourth book. Either I had become bored with it or it had just dragged on relentlessly. I could only take so much of the constant struggle with Shinzan and good vs evil and clearly I had had enough. I forced myself to finish it because I'm stubborn that way and had invested too much time into it to not see it thru to the end. If you like Lord of the Rings, then maybe this won't bother you and you'll love this series also. I could only take so much of them chasing after that ring as well before it totally turned me off. Maybe I was just "done" and am giving an unfair assessment. To each their own. I hope you enjoy it more. Glad it's done.

The story was good, the ending was a hit anticlimactic though. The writing still feels a bit try hard and not flowy, but maybe its lost in translation when read aloud.

No spoilers.
Final book in the series as allied forces battle the evil Shinzan for world domination.
we find some interesting background on Shinzan that was suprising, and all comes to a very tidy resolution.
An enjoyable series with all the usual tropes.
