This was a great read. What I liked about it was the gradual developing relationship between the two main characters, the clever way their separate back stories was told, and their surprisingly mutual goal.

It reminded me of a line in the James Bond film, Casino Royale, where Vesper Lynd says to Bond that MI6 recruits maladjusted young men because they kill efficiently.

The female character is a top Mata Hari, originally from Ecuador, and the male one grew up in Zimbabwe during the Mugabe period. But both had a sad childhood.

There are some nice descriptions of Quito, the city, a bus journey, and, all in all, it's a well rounded novella. And, because it's erotica, there is some sex. It was the story that did it for me though. Cracking female seductress and assassin character, and well worth an easy five stars.

And no errors! What a pleasure to read a story without punctuation and spelling mistakes. Seriously.

This book was short and hot, and I'm somewhat glad I requested it on NetGalley.

Super hot sex, an okay hero, and a meh heroine. The story was interesting enough but the characters were pretty flat. Also, the idea that the hero had dreadlocks... Um... Maybe it's just me, but I don't think chunks of matted hair is sexy. It made my lip curl, as did the knowledge that the hero was a child soldier, raped and forced into war. While my heart went out to him, I still couldn't like him as a man.

I'm not sure I'll read more books by Ms. Stewart (Godman), but this one was an aight time killer.

Interesting read with lots of background and baggage for the main characters.

It has some "rape" like sex but they both got off on it so to each his own. I really don't get into that much. Dredlocks not my favorite either...yuk.

For a novella there was lots of character development and you understood everyone's actions without being left in the dark. Each character was sexy, dangerous, and once they get together unstoppable.

Interesting short read.

Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

4 erotically charged, potentially triggering stars for SEDUCTION SQUAD: CAPTURED.

Inge is a top operative in the Seduction Squad, an exclusive group of women skilled in the art of seducing powerful men for information. When she's captured and held by a beautiful man with pained eyes, she immediately starts planning how she can get him into bed and get herself out of trouble. Taking a shot in the dark and guessing that he liked forced sex, she doesn't have any idea what kind of beast she's released in her captor...but she can't deny that she's going crazy over his overpowering dominance. The more time they spend in each other's company, the more they both realize how perfect they are together. Shame they've got to kill each other at the end of this game.

Soooo, I have to admit that forced sex scenes and breath play aren't my bag, baby, making the start of this book one big teeth-grinding event for me. I'm attempting to be objective given the fact that the sex at the beginning made me uncomfortable …but:

"The difference between you and a real rapist is you keep it inside your head, you don't wait on dark corners and jump out on unsuspecting women."

"Does the fact that I'd like to make me fucked up?"

Yes, Jake, yes it does.

Now, there are caveats to this situation. She tries to seduce him by saying she likes to be forced. She didn't expect him to ACTUALLY force her (aka rape her), but wound up a willing, orgasming participant. And after that, she was all in. But…yea.

Once the book got going though, the rape/rape fantasy scenes became more about sexual fantasies in general, which I was much more at ease with and which were very hot (especially the bus scene...whew!). The two of them wound up having amazing chemistry and became a couple you could root for.

Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; no condom use; BDSM/kink (forced sex, public sex, breath play, bondage); sexual assault; violence/murder. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...

So. Inge is pretty much an assassin/prostitute that works for Seduction Squad. She knows how to manipulate to get information she needs and has no problem eliminating people. And she's good at what she does. Too bad she just got herself kidnapped and the tables have turned and Jake's ready to do anything he needs to get the info he wants from her. Mmhm.

These two had a nice dynamic and both had interesting back stories. There was a lot of heat. Especially once she uses her skills to pull his deepest darkest fantasies out of his head and he puts them into action. I mean. Whew! Some of the terminology now and again, though, just...no. Pulsing vulva, bulbous or bulging heads in regards to the hero's naughty bits. Totally pulled me out of the scenes.

Seduction Squad had some fun parts but did drag for me and in the end was just an okay read. It also didn't totally follow along with the anthology. There was totally a kidnapping/ dubious consent thing happening but the other two had fun twists in the 'everything isn't what it seems' regard and with this one that was absent. I kept waiting for that 'surprise' moment and turned out all was as it seemed. I'd be willing to try the author again without the expectations the autho set up for me.

description

This book is part of the Carina Press "Too Taboo" anthology. I enjoyed all the novellas in the anthology, but found this to be the best and the most taboo.

This story is not for the faint-hearted.

"I like to be forced."

Inge said that to try and push Jake into reacting...and she got a whole lot more than she expected.

I enjoy dark erotica with dubious consent content, but the first sex scene between Jake and Inge took the edgiest rape fantasy to a shocking new level.

The first person point of view changes give a good insight into what each character is thinking and feeling. Inge is a captive, but she's not weak. Jake seems to be the one with all the power, but he can be vulnerable.

The sex scenes are stunning, both characters are dark and dangerous and the story builds to a suspenseful climax.

Hot, shocking, captivating and with a satisfying ending. I wished I had more than 5 stars to give this one.

The synopsis doesn't do this book any favors. It's dark, edgy and captivating as fuck. The blurb makes it sound like a spy story (it's not).

Inge is a high class hooker who is captured by Jake because he wants information from her. The only hope she has of escaping is to get inside his head and find out what his sexual fantasies are. But Jake's head is messed up, and he is determined to resist Inge, no matter how hard she tries to seduce him.

The sexual tension between these two is scorching, and when Inge does find out what Jake wants (or doesn't want) things get even hotter.

These two are both damaged, but they come together (see what I did there?) to find a way out of a seemingly impossible situation.

I loved this book. The sex scenes are amazing (pass the bucket of iced water), but I enjoyed the suspense and the building relationship between Jake and Inge.

"introducing the Seduction Squad"? I hope that means we can expect more?

While this book is all kinds of silly, over the top at times, completely ridiculous at others, and totally frustrating, I liked it, sort of. Don't get me wrong... I almost stopped reading it after the first couple of chapters. The thing is, I have a compulsion to finish a book I've started. For better or for worse, I kept going.

Now, I get insta love. I like it sometimes. In this case that would have been fine if these characters weren't utterly dumb most of the time. Specifically Jake.

Jake is this alpha character with a horribly dark past that is best in his line of work. He's warned that the person he's after will use sex to get away and yet falls for it all most immediately. Same goes for Inge. She is stilled and all, but apparently mostly uses her sex appeal to take out her targets. So the way they fall into bed was annoying. Frankly, a lot of things about the book and their relationship were annoying. While the sex between them is supposed to be forced and a little taboo, it was pretty tame. Nobody is actually forced and the little games they played with each other worked for them.

So did I like it? It's just okay... It took me out of my life for a minute and that's all I was really looking for. I had a little bit of fun.

I'm not sure that I'd read this author again, but it was kind of fun even as it was totally unbelievable.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

So I'm trying to pinpoint what about this book didn't connect for me, because we had kind of enough back story to get invested. But I think when it comes down to it, it's the fact that there was no indication that the "darkest, most illicit desires" where what they were going to be- it's CNC, not whatever other form of BDSM I was expecting. Please for the love of God, if you're going to read this, please know exactly what you're getting into.

Wow. I'm still reeling from this story. When I read some of the reviews on here, I thought 'What do you expect from a story that's part of an anthology called TOO TABOO?'

Even so, this story broke me a little. Both the main characters had tragic lives, but Jake's experiences got inside my heart and stuck with me after I'd finished reading.

In the end, it ended up being a great story. A suprisingly sweet romance wrapped up in some of the steamiest sex scenes I've ever read.

Whether you enjoy dark erotica or not, whether you like taboo or not, whether forced seduction is your thing or not...this is a great story. And I recommend you read it.

Sexy, flawed, controlling anti-hero.
'Fuck yeah!' and 'WTF?' sex scenes.
Two psychotic, screwed up characters who were perfect for each other.

I was a little confused as to where this story was going, and found that it wasn’t at all what the synopsis implied. Not really to my taste, but I’m sure others will find it entertaining.

Inge can normally get any man under her charm to talk but when she is kidnapped Jake isn’t one to break under seduction, will Inge be able to break away or fall under Jake’s spell. This is a fast paced read with lots of drama and great chemistry. I really liked it!

This book really pushed the boundaries. Expect lots of VERY hot sex (worth reading for the bus scene alone), dubious consent and some taboo subjects. But the characters manage to be real and relatable and the story is good. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down.

Review originally posted on Ctrl, Alt, Books!

The synopsis for Seduction Squad gained my attention and I was curious. This book can get a bit graphic and I must give possible trigger warnings. One might assume after reading the book blurb that it’s just a case of Stockholm syndrome, but that’s not the case at all. You can feel the passion between Jake and Inge, a mutual bond between the two. Although they are from two separate worlds, they can’t help the feelings that begin to grow.

The sex scenes were raunchy and contained BDSM qualities. The story and plot were entertaining but I felt it was a bit lack luster. It didn’t always seem real or plausible and yes I understand that although it’s technically not, I still want to feel like this is a possible romance story. I liked that Jake and Inge were supposed to be enemies and from that, their forbidden love blossomed. I believe this would be better as a full length novel with more description, detail and conflict between the characters. I did enjoy reading Seduction Squad and I want more from the storyline and more of Jake and Inge. This book is meant for those 18 years and older!

I didn't just read this book, I devoured it in one sitting. If you enjoy forced seduction/rape-play and dark romantic suspense, this is for you. But there is a story in this book as well as lots of mind-blowing sex, and the characters drew me in. I wanted it to work out for them, even though it's hard to see how their story can end well.
Can't wait to read more from the Seduction Squad.

Ugh, I have such complicated feelings about this. For those interested, big trigger warning for rape and child abuse.

While I enjoy the concept of a "Seduction Squad," a group of seductive assassins, this novella has some issues with consent. Just because you admit that you have a particular kink doesn't mean anyone can engage you in that kink at any time. It doesn't give them carte blanche. Consent has to be given each and every time.

I'm curious to see if the author will have other Seduction Squad romances coming and if they'll be full-length.

Despite my interest in knowing more about this team of killer courtesans, this erotic novella was startlingly effed up, which, coming from me, is saying something. The issues with consent and the sheer amount of abuse and tragedy in 100 pages made this a disappointing read.

4.5 Amazing Stars! Inge is part of an exclusive group of women operatives that are skilled in the art of seducing powerful men to obtain information. Inge is then captured by a man with pained eyes. She immediately starts thinking of a way that she could seduce him and be able to escape. Jake has kidnapped her because he wants information from her but, he must resist her at every turn. Will Inge find out what Jake wants before it's too late? Will someone skilled in the art of seduction be able to outplay her captor? This is a dark romance so if you have triggers please read with caution. This story is told from both points of view so it gives us great insight to what Jake and Inge were thinking and feeling. I was engaged from the first chapter and could not put the book down until I finished it! It is a fast pace story with lots of drama, sex, and great chemistry. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Stewart and it definitely will not be the last! I highly recommend this story!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

**3.5 Stars**

**Disclaimer: Inge is a member of a group of women picked exclusively due to their skills in sexual attraction. Their mission, should they choose to accept, is to use those skills on powerful men.**

Inge, a member of the Seduction Squad, has many talents. Though she's unable to use them at this point seeing as how she's on day three, she believes, of her captivity, but even with a hood over her face, her training allows her to discern certain clues about her captor. She knows she just needs to bide her time and determine his weakness.

Jake knows what his "guest" is capable of, and after getting visual confirmation of her body, can completely understand how she's tempted numerous men. Even so, he'd been warned that she'd more than likely try her extensive wiles on him. He's determined to resist, even if he can't help what just the though of her succeeding, err trying, does to him. But he needs something from her and they aren't leaving until he gets it. He was specifically selected for this assignment by the commander due to his own set of talents.

Inge, as Jake introduces himself and explains why they are there, subtly begins playing the role she knows so well, and yes, Jake is interested, even if he's trying to appear unaffected. But when Jake mentions the name Ricardo Villacruz, Inge has to work to hide her reaction. She does know the man, and the evil he's capable of, and knowing she has no choice because of how Ricardo would punish her, continues her role, learning about Jake as she goes and what he wants.

Jake is finding it increasingly difficult to resist Inge, and he's continually pushing down the urges he hasn't shared with anyone, somehow knowing Inge is the woman he can unleash that side of himself with. When Inge, seemingly able to see into Jake and his deepest, darkest desires, gives him the chance to indulge them, Jake can no longer deny the pull between them.

But was Inge being herself, or simply playing a  part, giving Jake what he wanted? How will Jake handle a woman that isn't paid to be with him? Can Jake see his mission through to the requested completion? How will Inge react upon discovering she truly wants Jake, that he arouses her, something that never happens while she's "working?" What will Jake do upon learning Inge's secret, the reason she can't share Ricardo's location? Can Jake trust Inge? Or will they turn on each other in order to save themselves? Will Jake finish his mission? Will one of Inge's greatest dreams come true? Will Jake and Inge get their HEA?

"Wherever this madness takes us, Jake, if we kill each other at the end of this day, you make me feel more alive than any man has ever done." - Inge

One-click now and follow along as two people meet under dangerous circumstances and discover a love that comes straight out of their fantasies.

On a purely personal note, and even though the Jake and Inge hadn't met yet, I really didn't like reading that after preparing Jake for this mission, with constant exposure to porn, his commander sent him off to a brothel where he spent a weekend purging every fantasy he could think of out of his head, aside from the part of himself he's only shared with Inge. Yes, I know my dislike of this is pretty ironic considering Inge's line of work, but I'm pickier in regards to the heroes. Although, I did like learning his encounters were rare.

As first novels go, this is one heck of a way to start--it's hot, taboo, dark, dirty, gritty and edgy, and it's gets 4 stars from me.

Inge is considered the finest operative in a covert group of beautiful female agents called the Seduction Squad. This exclusive group are reminiscent of Mata Hari--they are skilled courtesans whose primary function is to seduce rich, powerful and influential men, and get them to divulge classified/secret information. We first meet her on day three of her captivity--she's been captured, tossed into the trunk of car, driven somewhere, gagged, and forced to wear a hood with only very small openings so she can breathe. Her captor has, so far, allowed her to use the bathroom (while he watches) and he's fed her, but has, so far, only spoken in single word sentences. She's spent her time trying to figure out who he is and what he wants to that she can seduce him and escape.

Told in alternating narration, we next meet her captor, Jake, the muscle for a man he only refers to as "the commander". Jake's mission is to fend off Inge's sexy and seductive attributes and get her to give him as much information as he can elicit about one of her lovers/targets, Ricardo Villacruz, the head of an Ecuadorian drug cartel. Although he's been told all about the dangers of her seductive wiles, once the hood is off and he allows her to shower, he can't help but be attracted to this beautiful yet deadly woman, and she's surprised to find herself equally attracted to him.

Judging Jake to have dominant tendencies, Inge tries to appeal to that part of his nature, by remarking that she likes to be forced--and no, she's not just saying that--it's also her sexual preference, and she's right about Jake too, an extremely well-endowed, hunky, mixed-race, African alpha male complete with dreadlocks. I could have lived without the dreadlocks, since I don't find them appealing. It's at this point I feel it necessary to issue a warning to readers for whom scenes of forced MF and MM sex, bondage, rape, public sex, and breath play are triggers. This short novel contains all of the aforementioned in graphic detail, and the deeper and darker their sexual needs are indulged, the more that these two realize that they are perfect for one another. It's a shame that in addition to being ordered by the commander to get the information Inge possesses, in whatever manner he chooses, once he does so, he's been ordered to kill her.

There's a lot more action and graphic violence to follow as Inge insists that the only way to get the information Jake wants is to go the Ecuador and meet with Villacruz. As if things weren't already complicated enough, Inge has her own issues to deal with when it comes to the drug lord, and, believe it or not, there's a light at the end of all this darkness and despite the darkness, intrigue, sex and violence, there is an HEA ending.

For a first novel, this one packs quite a wallop. My only issue with it is that we learn more about Jake's past and how it affected him emotionally than we do about Inge's past and its effect on her. It's most definitely for mature readers only, but personally, I cannot wait to read more of what promises to be one hell of a series.
