When I started studying biblical languages to better understand the Scriptures, I came across Dr. Heiser's writings and teaching. He is very thorough and brings together many resources from the many translations of the Scriptures and biblical languages to pagan, Jewish, and Christian writings which help to build context when studying the Scriptures. Dr. Heiser does most of the hard work in bringing many resources together for you. In his notes on the book of Acts, Dr. Heiser brings together many different resources so that we can better understand the book of Acts.
I've been a Christian most all my life. Trained and studied with The Navigators from 1972-77 in the Navy and subsequently had some great pastors and teachers. Nevertheless I've been more engrossed in this study of Acts and learned more than just about any other study I've taken up. Dr. Heiser is a skilled and effective teacher.
Dr. Heiser’s commentary on Acts made Acts much better. I already enjoyed Acts, but reading it with Dr. Heiser made the Book of Acts more interesting, more understandable, more enjoyable and much more interesting. I recommend this commentary very highly.
