Wow, Sheryl Lister is a fantastic storyteller.

Not only is the romance great, but I was really involved with Khalil's struggles with the changes he faces when an accident leaves him suddenly deaf. His resistance to help from his loving but overbearing family, the isolation, the fear of doing everyday things--all of this really sucked me in. The subplot on homelessness and the community around Lexia's cafe was great, too. For me, Lister strikes the perfect tone, giving the issues the seriousness they deserve while still keeping the hopefulness of the romance at the center. Highly recommend.

I loved this story. Lexia is a good friend to Sam, cafe owner and a woman burned by love. It makes it hard to resist her attraction to Khalil. Khalil is an ex-model, intelligent complicated and gym owner. He would like to seduce Lexia but doesn't want emotion involved.
This has become my favorite of The Grays of Los Angeles. Khalil and Lexia have both been burned, and are afraid to risk love. After Khalil is injured in an explosion, they become close. They way Lexia treats him makes her the one person he can't push away.

Worth the risk

One thing you can always count on from Sheryl Lister's work is connectivity with true authentic friends. Samantha and Lexia's friendship is what all good girlfriends should have. While this was a subplot to Lexia and Khalil relationship it was key. It can be tough letting go and taking a risk at long. But what is tougher is allowing fear to hold you back from experiencing love again. After Khalil's accident it was the rub meet the road on how it would impact him as a person and his budding relationship with Lexia.

Key take away is the importance of family and friends to help you through storms. Cameron was an interesting backdrop to who Lexia was as a person and how she cherished her friendships. Definitely wouldn't mine seeing Cameron get his own story.

DeAnna and Siobhan Gray still are spit fires and it was good seeing them again.

Overall you'll smile and your heart will toggle between shaking Khalil and having compassion.

Interesting enough the element of a physical disability brought you more into the story and longed to know more.

A passion to believe in…Lexia Daniels can’t deny that her café Oasis’s most loyal customer is as tempting as any of the delicious treats she bakes. Burned by a bitter divorce, she tries to keep her desire in check around Khalil Gray, but the gorgeous (ex-model/Fitness Training Owner) is intent on seduction. Then a devastating accident causing him to lose his hearing, reveals the complicated man behind the perfectly sculpted body… A man she can’t seem to resist, and since her friend suffered a similar incident involving her hearting, she volunteers to teach him sign-language. At first, Khalil sees Lexia as a sexy challenge. But after an explosion shatters his world, she becomes the only person he can’t seem to push away. And every sign around him is telling him he needs her close. Khalil is happy to explore their erotic chemistry as long as it means resisting real emotion. But playing by his old rules could cost him the love he never thought he’d find…

This series has taught a lot about various careers, avoiding judgement, and sharing...Do yourself a favor and read all five books!

When two people have had their hearts broken, how do they find love? This is the question that both Khalil and Lexia must ask themselves before they can come together. I loved the fact that the circumstances that draw the hero and heroine together aren't typical. Khalil finds himself in a situation that makes him vulnerable. Instead of coming to terms with the change that occurs, he makes a complete mess of things and puts up a wall between himself, his family and even Lexia. Even in the midst of his own stubbornness, Khalil manages to open up and even fall in love. The romance that happens between these two is electric, sweet, and passionate. I love that the author showed the hero's playfulness which is different from a lot of heroes in romance novels. If you have read the other Grays' novels, then you are sure to enjoy this one. If this book is new to you, then you won't be disappointed. I cannot wait for the next installment.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading The Grays of Los Angeles series and I must say that Khalil and Lexia's love story was my favorite so far. Talk about being "Suave and Debonair," Khalil Gray had it all! The ex-model turned fitness guru and owner of Maximum Burn Fitness Center vowed to never love another women until he met cafe owner, Lexia Daniels, who turned out to be more than an excellent cook...she was everything that Khalil could ever ask for in a woman. After a freak explosion, he soon learns the meaning of true love in the eyes and arms of Lexia...Awesome read and a tear jerker for me!! I can't hardly wait to read pro football player, Malcolm's love story, Hats off to you Sheryl on an excellent series!!!!

Chemistry at its best

I was made aware of this author on the Writer's Edge with McKensie Stewart's radio show. I am so honored that the author request that I read this title. I haven't read Lister's work prior to this, but after reading this story I look forward to reading more of her work. What a great romance. The romance didn't feel forced or happen immediately. The chemistry between Khalil and Alexis was undeniable, and the reader could see it and feel it. It's a great adventure of romance and overcoming personal fears and tragedy.

Wow! Lots of surprising twists and turns in this one! I was on the edge of my seat wondering if everything would work out for Khalil after the explosion. As usual, I loved the hot chemistry between Khalil and Lexia. Ms. Lister creates the most interesting and down to earth characters and the love they share is absolutely sizzling! Although the Grays are super rich, they never have a problem sharing their blessings with others. Awesome story!

The fourth book in the Grays of Los Angeles. Khalil Grays and Lexia Daniels defintely have had their share of ups and down with their pasts relationships. But when an accident affects Khalil, it draws Lexia closer. They both learn to how to deal with uphill battles together and Khalil learns a bit about discrimination and assumptions as well. Definitely one of my favorite two of the series. Highly recommend if you enjoy family series.

I thought for sure Khalil’s takedown was going to be a lot more straightforward, and twist upon twist changed that thinking quickly.

I was enthralled with this story, loved the ins and outs, the ups and downs, and the dips and crests.

The supporting characters were many, and were perfectly situated and written. At no time did Khalil and Lexia get lost in the storyline.

I highly recommend this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the details of the plot. I learned about some interesting new technology. Khalil and Lexia battled some tough issues but love is worth some effort, it's not always easy but it is sweet. For a good time pick up a copy of this installment of the Grays of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lister does not disappoint.

Excellent!

This was an excellent read! Lexia and Khalil both have demons in their past to overcome before they can achieve their HEA. But what is most touching about this story is the portrayal of how someone deals with a sudden physical challenge and how society reacts to those challenges.

Boring....

I really wanted to like this story. It was just ok. It kept going down hill. When it reached the bottom it got corny. Boring. I read the previous Grays stories and they were good. This one just didn't do it for me. The woman (I can't remember her name) was just boring. Her little shop. Lol. I see why her first husband left her. Lol.

Informative

I have been entertained by the author's work for a couple years. I enjoy reading the romance books and the way she develops her characters. This series, "The Grays of Los Angeles" has touched me. The care of the homeless, disabled, veterans and just basic humanity. The hearing impaired was touching and informative.

Risk vs Love

This heart breaks Khalil and Lexia recognized they both had prevented they from enjoying their true feelings. At first they were afraid to take the risks to love. Sometimes we have to take that risk to Love which Lexia and Khalil.

Not only was it good to see some of the other siblings in this story, it showed how willing you have to be to work through adversities while in a relationship. I really enjoyed this story.
