My grandfather took many secrets—secrets involving me—to his grave. Now, it seems he’s haunting me from beyond; although for a Necromancer like him, that might not be too hard. I wouldn’t know. I have a different set of unique and unwanted… talents.

I had never invested in relationships outside the ones I already a tight group of girls with their own special abilities; a Voodoo priestess; and my grandfather, RIP. Having anyone else in my life would just be too complicated. But then Bast showed up with his fierce blue eyes like a crystal-clear lake on a winter’s day. He was something I definitely hadn’t planned for. Same for his powers, which interact with mine in unexpected ways.

To me, the gift I was born with is truly a curse. Being involuntarily ripped from my current reality to another place, appearing in the form of another person’s image is not my idea of a good time.

But this curse is something the Shadow Realm wants. And with the help of my friends and my grandfather’s spirit, I need to find out how to stop it before it’s too late… for all of us.

An unusual and enjoyable novella that is a quick, easy and entertaining read. Jax and Bast are captivating characters, both unaware of their connection or their true abilities. The author does a great job of making the reader feel their emotions and the experiences they go through as they start to come into the full extent of their powers. Set in the Bayou, there is a great mix of Voodoo, tribal and spiritual identities, as well as reacquainting us with some of the characters we met in Hailey’s story. This is a thrilling read that holds a few surprises and leaves you wanting more.

Can’t get enough

These novellas are packed with so much information, action, and mystery that I couldn’t put it down. I devoured this book, reading quickly, dying to know that happens to Jax. I cannot wait for more in this series; about Hailey, Jax, Solange, and Willow, but also about the Shadow Realm. This series is going to be fantastic

I absolutely love this book. It being a novella it is a quick and easy read. It is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author does a great job portraying the characters, their emotions and the experiences they go through.

I love the characters. While some we met in Hailey's story, however Jaxon and Bast are the stars of this book. Ajax is a hound woman, who is different and terrified of what she can do. While she and her friends are all supernatural, they don't know anybody else like Jax.

This is a must read book. Take a walk with Jax and her friends as they come of age and start getting the full extent of their powers. It's amazing what they can do. I highly recommend this book/series to those who enjoy paranormal romance. I can't wait to see what comes out next.

Unique concept

This story of a doppelganger is the first I've read. I really liked the setup and the tension built up in such a short time. There was a point where I'm sure my heart rate was as high as a runners and my eyes got seriously dried out from forgetting to blink. This is a quick peek into the beginning of Jax's powers and there were appearances by her friends whom we see in other stories. The origin novellas look to promise an upcoming series that will have paranormal fans craving the next amazing story!

Jax's grandfather had many secrets and it appears many of those had to do with her. I have a different gift or curse than he did. Jax wasn't really interested in forming relationships with other than with her close friends and a Voodoo Priestess. Then she meets Bast and feels drawn to him like no one else. He also has a gift and it seems to especially react with hers.
I really enjoyed this and have questions about her other friends. Can't wait to see what happens next with this group of friends.

I reallly enjoyed meeting Jax and Bast and seeing old and new characters. Jax is really a amazing character. I really enjoyed seeing her unfold and embrace who and what she is. Bast is a amazing character with a strength that helps Jax along the way. I look forward to the next adventure.
