Based on the name of the book, you would have thought this was going to be about Carter, Baron, Anari, Millie and Brick. Well, it wasn't. This book basically sets you up to be prepared for the next generation of The Cartel with Mo and CJ. Although, I was disappointed that I did not get what was expected, this was still a good book. Here is my review of each character:
Breeze: I felt bad for Breeze because she endured a lot and unlike the others, she was still green and had to adapt to being alone with no one for guidance or security. I'm glad that after being kidnapped, drug addicted, forced to be a sex slave, and finding out her husband turned informant she was still able to forgive and move forward with her life. I hated that she felt she needed to leave her family behind to do so. I'm not understanding why she feels she will be successful in doing so though since her last name is "Diamond" (very unique) lol
Carter: After all the incidents he has gone through, who would have thought a heart attack would have taken him out. It hurt me to finally have an end to Carter Jones, it just didn't feel right! I appreciated how everything he did and attempted to do revolved around him trying to get his family straight. I would have loved for him to have gone out in similar fashion like Monroe did since he was such a legend, but hey when it's your time you just go. Personally, I think Carter died from a broken heart.
Zyir: First of all, God must have been with him to survive that gunshot to the head. It probably is a good thing that he can't remember anything. At least that allows him a fresh start with his new life. I do feel sorry that he will never know he actually has a daughter, but who knows, maybe Breeze is right in thinking that's what's best.
Miamor: It didn't feel right to have her in jail and not out killing folks and having all kinds of chaos going on. Who would have ever thought that something (meaning prison) would finally stop Miamor. It's funny how love works. I would have never pictured Miamor giving in so easily, but love made her take the time. At least she can still get out and have a relationship with her son because I believe that had she not gone to jail eventually someone would have caught her slipping.
Estes: It was very nice of him to take CJ in even though there is no blood relation. One can already understand that with a background like Estes' Young Carter is only being groomed to be great, so I can imagine we'll hear more about Estes if there is a book 8.
CJ: He seems to be a very angry and confused one. He kind of reminds me of Breeze with all the things he has endured at such a young age(just being guilty by association). He doesn't understand how to deal with emotions and he has problems trusting people. I feel very bad for anyone that crosses him because he already has Miamor crazy blood and Carter's boss personality genetically in him. I think he will be one fearless leader!
Mo: OMG! After hearing Breeze say he looks like Mecca I was thinking "WORLD BEWARE!!!!". Based on what he was doing at the end of the book, I know he is going to be a very interesting character. I know Monroe was a little bit more level headed than his twin but if this is who Mo is favoring we better watch out in Book 8!!
My only request after reading this book is if there is a book 8 please don't bring anyone back from the dead!! Overall, I enjoyed this book and will be reading the next one if there is one!!
What did I just read?!?!? How can you start off with a bang and end with a whimper? Carter, the gangster of gangsters felled by a heart attack?!?! What in the f#$%?!?! That's it?!?!
Everybody dead or in prison. Not one HEA?!?! I mean not one?!?! Seven books!!! Seven of them!!! Just death, destruction & disloyalty!!! How's that for alliteration?!?😁😁😁
As you can tell, I'm not enamored with book #7. Be your own judge though, buy it, read it and hopefully enjoy.👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥
The last living Diamond and the children of Carter Jones and Monroe Diamond truly suffered in this installment. It was the saddest book of all the series so far.
4.5 stars I'm taking off .5 because of what went down with Carter and 10 years later Miamor still in lock up when Anari said soon... What? I'm super nervous for CJ. This series is awesome. I like a page turner that has knowledge inside. I hate dragged out books, but some parts I wanted to be more fleshed out, but I get it. Am I excited for book 8? Really, that's a no brainer.
Mo and CJ's reunion... Miamor out in a year.... can't wait! I know Anari is coming back in too.

It was okay, but held to many inconsistencies. My comments are fresh off my listen and unedited.
Book 7 was a 6 hour prologue for the next generation of the Cartel or so it seems
** spoiler alert ** I listened to this book via audible. Unfortunately, I don't have many good things to say about this edition. I'm hoping once I sit with it for a while, my views will change, but I don't think so. I'm one disappointed supporter of the series.
Pros An opportunity to be entertained and "escape" into another world Another book by the two legends in street literature
Cons The title should have read Prequel or The Beginning Illuminati: roundtable of bosses. There was no significant time spent on this "roundtable" or any "boss" moves made in this edition. Anari stood out a bit when she ferreted out why all the former street kings/queens were kidnapped, but that's it. There was a 3 yr time jump and then another primary member met their demise in this series and MiaMoore was supposed to be getting out of prison. Anari told her as much. Then there was a 10yr time jump and Mia still has a year or so left on her bid. Maybe 1 + 1 doesn't equal 2 in this book.
Poor transitions- I had to listen to the first 3 minutes of chapter 2 three times. The narrator's transitions are poor. There is no distinction between one pov and the next.
If you pay attention, you'll notice not much really happened in this edition. The time jump swallows up any and all potential for drama, angst or anything that would have made this story pop and feel like it was worth the credit & time spent. I would have loved less inner monologues and more action, more movement.
Books 6 & 7 should/could have been combined to be Book 1 of this next Gen of the Cartel. Separately, they served no real purpose, but to get us to the same point. And that is the beginning of a new chapter for this series so the kids can now be the focus.
The inner monologue of Carter's alleged ghost was pointless. However, I believe it will be written as Carter was in a half wake/half dead state i.e. Monroe when he was at death's door and was made to appear dead at his funeral so much that his family had no idea. It is plausible for Carter to come back from a "dream" state. The potential for the father/son conflict is too great for it not to be explored.
Random- I absolutely detest this new style of storytelling. You want to write a series? Great! Your characters have more they want to tell us? Great! BUT, each book should be a story in and of itself. As a reader, you don't want to feel like you are being piece mailed a story, and the only way to get it is by stagecoach.
There is no reason we could not get a glimpse into what happened with Z after Bree left and still have them been a prominent character in the next book. Open-ended storylines like that one make for a frustrated supporter of the author's work.
Will I listen to the next installment? Yes. I think the Coleman’s are talented obviously. They know how to spin a tale. Granted you cannot get too invested in any of the characters, but the first 3 books of the series were everything. I hope in Book 8, they recapture the magic that was front in center in Book 1. (less)
Another good installment of the Diamond family. Carter, Breeze, Miamor, C.J and Mo. Estes and Aries make appearances too. Book held my interest (read it in one sitting), Action, action and more action. There is growth, death, family splits, etc. Breeze is maturing and it is not all about her anymore. We are up to book 7 in this series but The ending sets up for another book in this series. I see a few directions that book 8 could choose, but, I think we must wait and see. This book was a good addition to the series. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the authors for the advanced reading copy of this book in return for my honest review.
I feel like I got played this book is nothing like the others it's extremely lackluster and soft what a huge disappointment I want a refund this book was not worth the money at all or the wait I'm mad I pre-order this book almost a year ago
WHATEVER!!! I'm not saying the book wasn't good, however I am saying WHY!! You've gone through 7 series along with books telling how the Carter Jones cartel business started (the father). Then you turn around and kill off all the children at a young age only to start the next generation. REALLY!!! Who does that! I was expecting much more than that. I felt a reunion was due for the family members that were left after Monore's death in book 6. But you let everyone go there separate ways. It was a good story line. But the closure was so heartless. Even if it was time to start the next generation, you could have given Carter and Mia a chance to bow out the game and live happily ever after with there children taking over. I mean less be real, you made these characters hero's in the eyes of your readers. I'm just saying, did you have to go there? I want my hero back! PLEASE I fell in love with Carter and Mia!
This picked up right where the last book left off. Ashley Antoinette didn't disappoint. The Carter Diamonds last forever and I'm NOT tired of them at all.
I am heartbrokennnnnnnnn why would they take him outtttttt 💔💔
The man that you are, Carter 😔. You were rivaling Ethic and winning despite all the infidelities, but I get it — you a “King,” you dabbled in a few concubines.
And then they had the nerve to make his death so final too. No hope of a resurrection. Had Mia all in the casket, so it can’t even be another Monroe situation 😫.
I was almost done with the series, but the ending drew me back and got me invested in Lil Mo and CJ, and now they have Ash who I’m assuming will be a love interest. And of course, you got my girl Miamor with the 50 life lines who should have died 20 books ago, so I have to see it through. A HEA would have been nice tho 😒
THE CARTEL 7 by Ashley & Jaquavis is raw, intense and gritty story about the Diamonds, a criminal family who are all struggling to find their place in the world. Some are trying to avoid their namesake, others embracing it, and still others searching for who they really are. This book never stops moving, jumps from one family member to another and really has no slow sections of the story. I did feel a little lost having not read the previous books in the series and I got the strong feeling that I would appreciate the story even more if I knew the past better. Strong themes of loyalty, family and survival are prominent and it's impactful to see people who are driven to whatever they have to do get what they want. Some raw action and fighting sequences were written well and some surprising, yet fitting plot turns kept the characters and story interesting. THE CARTEL 7 is an emotional ride through the Diamond families struggles and was certainly a book I enjoyed reading. I received this book as part of the Goodreads Giveaway program.
THIS WAS NOT MY FAV OF THE CARTEL SERIES, BUT I DIDN'T HATE IT EITHER. I BOUGHT THE BOOK & SHELVED IT TO READ LATER. HOWEVER, I READ THE BOOK REVIEWS BEFORE I READ THE BOOK & WAS HEARTBROKEN TO FIND OUT CARTER JONES'S DEMISE. BECAUSE OF THAT IT TOOK ME A FULL YEAR (2018) BEFORE I ACTUALLY READ THE CARTEL 7 & I DID SO WHILE LISTENING TO THE AUDIOBOOK SO I COULD BE PREPARED FOR CARTER'S DEATH, MIAMOR'S REACTION; & THE AFTERMATH WITH BREEZE BEING THE ONE DIAMOND LEFT STANDING! SPEAKING OF BREEZE, THIS ONE HAD A PREGNANT BREEZE GOING TO PRISON, GETTING JUMPED IN THE SHOWER, GOING INTO LABOR, & DELIVERING HER BABY ON THAT NASTY PRISON BATHROOM FLOOR, DOING THE ABSOLUTE MOST TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL WHERE HER NEWBORN DAUGHTER AURORA WAS IN AN EFFORT TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH HER CHILD WHO WOULD BE GOING INTO FOSTER CARE GIVEN NO ONE WAS THERE TO TAKE THE BABY. i FELT BADLY FOR BREEZE. BUT I FELT AWFUL FOR CARTER C.J. JONES JR. BECAUSE HE'D BEEN MISTREATED, INJURED TRYING TO PROTECT HIS COUSIN MONROE DIAMOND JR. FROM BEING ATTACKED BY POLICE WHILE IN POLICE CUSTODY IN INTERROGATION ROOM, ONLY TO BE PLACED IN THE HOME OF A FEMALE PEDO SOCIAL WORKER, WH9OM HE HAD TO KILL IN ORDER TO GETAWAY FROM (THAT PART OF THE STORY I COULD'VE DONE WITHOUT), ONLY TO BE RESCUED BY THE ENEMY OF HIS PARENTS: ESTES, TRANSPORTED TO THE COMPOUND OF ESTES & BEING MISTREATED DUE TO THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN!WHILE IN A FIGHT WITH SOME KID IN THE D.R. C.J SHOWCASED HIS FIST SKILLS THUS FINDING HIMSELF BEING (USED) TRAINED AS A CHILD BRAWLER BY ESTES! MEANWHILE, I FELT THE WORST FOR MONROE LIL MO DIAMOND JR., WHO HAD WITNESSED BARAKA SAVAGELY BEAT HIS NAKED MOTHER LEENA TO DEATH AS SHE HUNG FROM A PENDULUM (BOOK 6) HIS DAD MONROE DIAMOND SR, DIE TWICE-THE FINAL TIME HE WATCHED HIS DAD MONEY BE KILLED IN A HAIL OF BULLETS BY THE POLICE. IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, LIL MO WAS TRICKED INTO AGREEING ACCEPTING A LONGER JAIL TIME BY HIS SHEISTY PUBLIC DEFENDER AFTER HE STABBED AN OFFICER IN THE EYE WITH A PENCIL IN SELF-DEFENSE TRYING TO PROTECT HIS LITTLE COUSIN C.J., WHO HAD SUFFERED A HEAD INJURY TRYING TO COME TO LIL MO'S AIDE! WHILE IN JUVY, LIL MO SUFFERS SOME BULLYING BUT MEETS WHAT COULD BE A LIFE LONG FRIEND IN CELLMATE JOEY. WHILE IN A PRISON CELL OF HER OWN, MIAMOR JONES, UNBEKNOWNST TO HER SON C.J.,NEPHEW LIL MO, & SISTER-IN-LAW BREEZE'S PLIGHTS, MIA MEETS A FRIEND OF HER OWN (FRENEMY) IN ASHTON LACROIX, AS SHE PLOTS AGAINST ESTES, THE MAN WHO WOULD RAISE HER ONLY OFFSPRING C.J. IN HER ABSENCE. MIA GETS A VISIT FROM AN OUT OF PRISON ON TAX EVASION CHARGES BREEZE, WHO INFORMED HER THAT C.J.'S IN FOSTER CARE & MO WAS IN JUVY. BREEZE TOLD MIA THAT SHE NEEDED HER HELP IN GETTING HER DAUGHTER AURORA BACK FROM A NURSE WHO IS ADOPTING THE TOT. MIA COMES THROUGH FOR BREEZE BY SENDING A HARD-TO-READ KITE TO THE ONE MURDER MAMA THAT ESCAPED THE CLUTCHES OF THE LAW: ARIES, WHO HELPED BREEZE GET PHYSICAL CUSTODY OF HER DAUGHTER AURORA! IN DOING SO, ARIES OFFICIALLY WENT FROM BEING BREEZE'S LONG TIME ENEMY TO FRIEND! WITH HIS IMPRISONED WIFE MIAMOR ON HIS MIND, KIDNAPPED BY GHOST, CARTER JONES SR. MEETS A FEW FRIENDS OF HIS OWN, OR ACQUAINTANCES IN ANARI, MILLIE, BRICK, & A FEW OTHERS WHO HAS ALSO BEEN TAKEN AGAINST THEIR WILL AS WELL BY GHOST. AFTER CARTER'S NEW BUSINESS PARTNER ANARI OFFS GHOST, THE TWO TAKE SEVERAL SEEDS OF THAT REBE PLANT THAT GHOST WANTED THEM TO HELP DISTRIBUTE ACROSS THE COUNTRY FIRST THEN THE WORLD, & CARTER & ANARI MAKE PLANS OF THEIR OWN FOR THE REBE PLANT. SINCE THE BOOK DIDN'T COVER WHAT HAPPENED TO MILLIE, BRICK, & THE REST WHO'D BEEN KIDNAPPED, CARTER & ANARI MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE D.R. TO ATTEND SOME EVENT, WHICH IS WHERE CARTER DISCOVERS THAT HIS SON C.J. IS BEING USED IN A BRAWLERS PIT FOR BOYS TO LINE THE POCKETS OF GROWN MEN & HE HAS A FIT ENSURING THAT ESTES'S JAW MET CARTER'S FIST FOR THE DISRESPECT. WHILE TRYING TO GET THE ATTENTION OF HIS SON C.J., WHO WAS SUPER VERBALLY DISRESPECTFUL TO HIS DAD, CARTER SUFFERED WHAT THE AUTHORS WANT READERS TO BELIEVE TO BE A FATAL HEART ATTACK RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF EVERYONE WHO'D BEEN WATCHING KIDS FIGHT EACH OTHER TO LINE THE POCKETS OF ADULTS THAT BET ON WHICH WOULD WIN! THIS BROKE THE HEART OF C.J WHO HELD HIS HAND AS HIS DAD 'DIED' IN FRONT OF HIM, ANARI JUST COVERED HER MOUTH & ODDLY(THIS SEEMS VERY FISHY) DID LITTLE TO NOTHING TO ASSIST CARTER AS HE WAS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE--ANARI DIDN'T LIFT A FINGER TO HELP WHICH MADE ME QUESTION IF SHE'D CAUSED CARTER'S HEALTH CRISIS FOR A SPECIAL PURPOSE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE! THAT FUNERAL AT THE CEMETERY SCENE........BROKE MANY A READERS' HEARTS. HOWEVER, IT ONLY PROVED THAT MIA LOVED CARTER MORE THAN ONE COULD HAVE ONLY IMAGINED. ANYONE ELSE FOUND IT ODD THAT ANARI, NOT MIAMOR, MADE THE FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS & CALLED THE SHOTS ON WHO COULD GO UP TO THE CASKET & FOR HOW LONG THEY COULD HOLD THE CASKET LID UP? CAN YOU SAY CARTER JONES SR. IS STILL ALIVE SOME PLACE WITH ANARI & HER HUSBAND?! ONE COULD HOPE! C.J. BECAME A WELL-KNOWN BOXER, LIL MO BECAME MONEY MO DIAMOND, & THE CAREL WORLD WILL LITERALLY NEVER BE THE SAME! I ENJOYED L. STEVEN TAYLOR'S NARRATION. I'M JUST GLAD THAT THE COLEMANS DIDN'T GIVE THE JOB TO NICOLE SMALL! AND I'M OUT THIS MF!
Damnnnnn. Carter Jones. I didn’t think he was going to go out like that 💔 This whole series kept me on my toes. The twist and turns, the secrets and lies, the betrayal and heartbreak. The Diamond family went through it. Mo Jr (I think that’s Mecca son 😬) and CJ gotta hold it down now.
I gave this book 4/5 stars because I was left with a lot of unanswered questions. Like where did Breeze and Aurora end up since it said she moved away from Miami? Is Zyir still in the rehabilitation center and how did his relationship with Kai progress? Did Kai tell him who Breeze really was? And did she tell him about Aurora? Did Breeze have any contact with Mo after he was released? That part wasn't really clear. It said she spoke with him on the phone but there wasn't anymore mention of that after the funeral which he didn't attend. Also why the 3 year gap? Carter was supposed to go to the Dominican Republic with Anari but then all of a sudden it was 3 years later. Did they ever make any headway or money off the Rebe plant? Where was Carter in those 3 years? Will Cj and Ash develop a relationship and become the new Carter and Miamor 🤗😊🤔? And what happened to Anari helping to get Miamor out of prison 10 years prior to the book ending? And most importantly is Monroe really Monroe's son? I've always felt like he was Mecca's son. And in my opinion it's always seemed like it's been hinted at and implied throughout the series basically since Leena was pregnant. It was a good book. No grammatical errors which is always a plus in my book. But just too many unanswered questions

First of all I enjoyed reading about the Cartel's Saga. Secondly, There were several things I was disappointed about in the storylines that didn't make sense nor did it flow with the meaning of each story such as: the round table, Ghost, Breeze, Zyiar and the baby, Miamor still in jail 10 more years later. CJ's life and Moe's life. This book just seemed like it was rushed to meet the publisher's deadline. The issues I mentioned earlier had left out to many holds in the characters storyline. It didn't make sense and it didn't flow with the Saga theme. And why would you remove the most important character of the Saga. I was just so disappointed how this book was written. Yes it had drama but what good is a story with suspense and drama if it doesn't meet the goal in connecting the character's story. There were too many hanging storylines that was created and incomplete which didn't need to be there. I will not be so anxious to read book eight if it's written.
YOU KILLED CARTER OMG!!! 😭😭😭😭 Although I look forward to reading Cj and MO's future endeavours but you didn't have to do Carter like that. I felt the book could have been longer, it felt a little rushed compared to the others. I look forward to the next adventure of The Cartel. A&J you did it again 😘

The Cartel 7 is presumably the last outing in The Cartel series, at least with the characters we've grown to love (Miamor, Carter, Breeze, etc.) The tone of this book was different than other outings, and you could tell how much the authors hated saying goodbye to these characters, but they'd done everything they could with them.
Rather than a shoot 'em up, drug dealing adventure like previous outings, the main characters rarely interact. Their story lines from before all come to an end, maybe not the one I would have hoped for, but a realistic, somewhat sad ending. Characters are in prison, and on the run, and there is a death that I did not see coming. On the bright side the story did develop the next generation of Diamonds, CJ and Mo and based on the ending I think that we can look forward to a series based on their future so I'm super excited about that.
I decide to take my time to reading this book. The Cartel 7: Illuminati: Roundtable of Bosses by A&J is an amazing read. This book will not allow me to put down because it's dealing with the chess and laws. The characters are crazy and dramatic. The storyline is on point.
Ashley and JaQuavis did a amazing job. They didn't disappointed me when comes their writer. Carter Jones, Mecca and Monroe are like their father and they're still the boss.
I remember some of characters from the previous books. My heart goes to CJ, Zuri, Mo, Mia and Breeze.
I knew this was too good to be true. Carter wasn’t fully recovered from his injuries but not one to show his weaknesses he pushes on. After he & the heads of the other drug cartels are settled, they find out what is required of them. Everyone is all in except Anari who thinks there’s more than what’s being shown & Carter who doesn’t care because he also has an agenda. So they form a bond & decide it’s them against everyone & proceed to do them. As they are getting their ducks in a row Carter gets some bad news. It’s so much I wanna say!!! But I don’t wanna spoil the book! But I will say that Diamonds are Forever! Cause Mo & CJ definitely got next!!
They say there is nothing like a perfect series/story/book but this is a PERFECT series to me! This took me on a RIDE! HIGHS, LOWS, GOOD, BAD, SAD, HAPPY. I am not really a fan of book series but I ate this up, I was hooked from book 1 till this point.
Ashley and her husband, Jaquavis did what needed to be done! I was on my toes all through. I read Moth to a flame, this series and best believe I'll be reading more of their work. They have successfully piqued my interest In Urban Fiction.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the 8th book at the moment and I'll take a pause for now.
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER! I'll miss this fucked up family.
Omg this book was truly worth the wait. I felt so bad for Breeze she had to deal with a lot being she had a task to tell her nephew what going to happen her being pregnant couldn't make it no better. I loved the was Carter and Anari had a friendship that most people wouldn't understand. My heart broke when Carter died and they brought Miamor to the funeral. Even though it all the family tried to stay strong like they say Diamonds are Forever. Great book can't wait to see what Mo and CJ do they are the new Cartel please don't sleep on this book it's a must read.
I honestly didn't care for this installment. I understand that Ashley & JaQuavis are tying loose ends to create the next generation of The Cartel but...I really wasn't here for this one! I wanted something more from this book. I wanted more from Carter instead of the ending he found. As far as Zyir, yes he was a snitch but, I hated his ending! Zyir was doing what he thought was right to save his wife Breeze. I'm not sure if I want to continue with this series.
This book took me thru so many emotions and left me shocked. I love the direction this series has taken. I read this book in 3.5 hours. It was a true page turner and i couldn't put it down. Diamonds are forever.
The first three books in this series were so good....and they have progressively gotten worst. It's time to end the Cartel. I really have no desire to read about the next generation. So, this is my RIP to the Diamond family....thanks for the ride!
