From New York to Los Angeles, kill squads were murdering career criminals and psychopathic killers.
The public welcomed these "executions" of rapists and murderers whom the courts had failed to imprison.
Silencing critics with death, the death squads blew away outspoken media stars, Black nationalists, Communist agitators. . .all int he guise of law and order. But the truth was that the squads were working for the enemies of America.
Democracy had ruptured, spilling out chaos. The president responded with his own squad of death-dealing hotshots - Mack Bolan's Able Team!
Non stop action highlights book #7 in the series. The team goes against a death squad from El Salvador that comes to the states. Action flies at you from a RV on a busy California highway to the barrios of L.A. Some say these books lean a bit too much to the right. I have to agree to a point. I'm not a gun nut, but I do like the action. These books are just like watching a Schwarzenegger or Norris movie from the 80's and they both turned out to be pretty big in the Republican party. Take it like I do. Nothing but fiction.
Pretty good Able Team entry. There's actually some substantial time spent with a secondary character in this one that works really well. The first half is very good, and actually has some pretty good suspense, which ends in a good chase and an even better shootout. Second half isn't quite as strong, but isn't a letdown either, and the end of the book manages to pull of a bit of suspense instead of just being the three Able boys mowing down the enemies.
Definitely an 80s actioner, with bigger and campier action than the earlier Executioner novels, of which Able Team is a spinoff. (The Executioner books have a grittier feel and a strong 70s vibe.) Still, "Justice by Fire" is an entertaining Able Team entry with a decently fleshed-out secondary character and actual suspense instead of just cover-to-cover action.
An action packed chapter of the series. Frost is definitely a favorite of mine from this series, his always seem to be better then the norm. In this one they are fighting El Savadorians who are in LA killing career criminals trying to get good publicity as cover for the outspoken critics and witnesses they really want to kill. Able Team is tasked to protect a young journalist who has photos and can testify against these thugs. They also must protect a family that is on the hit list. Lots of running gun battles in this one.
Highly recommended for mens adventure fans. Has a solid story but it takes a back seat to the action which isnt always a bad thing when its written well.
An El Salvadorean death squad is operating in the US. After an activist attorney is assassinated and a reporter is threatened, a liberal congressman gets in touch with the Able Team, who assist in guarding the reporter and his witness.
Pretty much no plot here. Able Team goes to a place, are followed by Black Nationalist and El Salvadorean death squads, stuff is blown apart, go to next place. This isn't a bad thing. The action scenes are among the better written ones, with some genuinely exciting stuff, and with anatomical details that rival most splatterpunk books. Plenty of details on the effects of a grenade on the groin and legs and what damage can be done with the real star of the book, the Atchisson Assault Shotgun.
