It is an age of heroes and epic tales. The Roman Empire has receded from Britannia, and those who remain behind struggle to retain civilization in the wake of invasion...

But this time, the invaders are not mortal.

Across the continent of Europa, a plague is spreading. The dead rise and stalk the living. These revenants bite brings death, and worse, to their victims. They've ruined city after city on the mainland. Now their claws sink into Britannia.

But the small island is not without its heroes. A young Arthur must rise to the challenge and defend his people, or the last lights of humanity will fade from the world.

Kindle Unlimited, his books are space opera to magical to sorta history to LitRPG, and pretty sure they are all available individually/through ku too. FYI, yes I do binge read writers, unless give them 1 or 2 stars and sometimes 3. Obviously not the case here. Look at amazon writer page. Want a rundown of plot? Look at blurb; want more, read reviews, actually just go to reading the books.

Definitely not your average zombie story. I do love a good zombie tale and I also love anything written about Arthur Pendragon and his fantasy realms. But, this is the not only a combination of both, it is exceptionally well-written, full of action and so interesting that I didn't want to put it down for any reason. I am so excited that the second book in the series is ready to be consumed. Enjoy!

Not a Silly Story about Zombies Well, at Least Not Silly

I don't remember why I brought King of the Dead. I mean Zombies? Not my favorite. Maybe it was curiosity, but most likely, it was my love for anything having to do with King Arthur.

Since I am female, I suppose it is unusual to love action books and movies, whether modern day thrillers or heroes in ancient times, battling with good and evil. I sometimes come out of the closet and admit it as I am doing now.

I am a fan of Kevin O' McLaughlin's Science Fiction, so the author's skill in telling this story should not have been a surprise. I loved all of the characters and the non-stop suspense. This was NOT a silly book about zombies, but a believable premise that an evil plague spread across Europe, turning victims into some really nasty un-dead.

Uther Pendragon is a canny and skillful leader who has little confidence in his young son Arthur. You will applaud as the young man comes into his own and becomes a humble, but shining hero against a very unusual foe.

I will let this review stand for the sequel, Queen of Demons. My only complaint was the author was hard to track down via his website or elsewhere to demand the third in the sequel. He does not have a way of joining a mailing list to allow news of releases. I finally messaged him on Twitter.

I am hoping that he will not leave me hanging and write it, and hope he changes the title to delete the word Zombies, which may be the reason for the poor Amazon sales.

Hmm, zombies - the real cause of the decline of Ancient Rome?

Zombies are far from my favourite fare, but the lure of a young Arthur Pendragon at the centre of the tale overcame my reticence. Thankfully, as this was a rousing good tale.

Action abounds, the characters interesting and likeable, except for the prat of a Roman Emperor. But then he was fun to loathe as he attempted to manipulate all around him.

A darn enjoyable adventure tale in a well created world with compelling characters and a riveting storyline. Despite and indeed because of the zombies!

Well worth a read!
