Riddich king, Asher Mannett, has more to worry about than the agony of shifting into his dragon form. Tantonics, his alien enemies, will do anything to invade and destroy him and his people, and extract their vital energy.

Asher is the king of a destroyed planet. While the few remaining survivors are scattered throughout the universe, he, his sister, and a few of his closest friends have sought sanctuary on Earth. He wished he’d listened to his younger brother, Kadin, but now they’re on the same planet, perhaps they can make amends. But first, he must find safety before the Tantonics, the enemy, or the local inhabitants find him. Injured in the crash landing, he escapes the burning spacecraft and staggers into the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen, but could that attraction simply be because he senses in her the ability to renew his decimated race?
Marissa thought love died when her fiancé did and she’d never find happiness again. That changes the moment a giant of a man charges into her life with a look in his eyes that is anything but human. Thoughts of his true nature are brushed aside when she realises he needs help. But that assistance comes at a price because Asher’s enemies are now her enemies, and Marissa’s about to learn her past isn’t all it seems either.
Another delightful story from Ms Teshco that tugs at the heartstrings and keeps her readers turning pages. Oh, and a little bit of her signature naughtiness for added flavour. This is the second in the Dragons of Riddick series and all the twists and turns are just as inviting. Even better, book three is out now. :)

IT TAKES MORE THAN A KING’S WISDOM TO OVERCOME DANGEROUS OBSTACLES
I give the story a 4.5. Asher Mannett, older brother of Kadin Mannett and king of Riddich, meets Marissa Kinkaid and they go on a journey for survival. Can an alien dragon-shifter find the love of his life on a new planet? Can they overcome all of the obstacles set before them? Danger and disaster follow this pair as they try to find their way together.

Mel Teshco has written an action-packed, thrilling start to her Dragons of Riddich series with a hunky dragon shifter, a feisty heroine and bad guys coming at them from all sides.
It goes without saying that I would love Asher. What is there not to love? He's a dragon shifter and we all know how I feel about dragon shifters! :-) But aside from that, he's honorable, strong and protective. Asher also has a kindness to him that will touch your heart and make it melt. There's nothing more sexy than an alpha male with a tender side.
Marissa confused me. Yes, she's feisty and brave but she's also got some emotional baggage she's dealing with. While I admired her courage, I was a bit befuddled by her insecurity and how she felt about the people she loved in her life. It's understandable once it's all revealed but it made me feel somewhat ambiguous about her as well.
What I loved best about this story was how action-packed it was. There was danger coming at Asher and Marissa from every side and with the help of a few kind people, they had one heck of a time fighting for their lives. It was quite an adventure and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I loved the mention of Kadin in the story. I hope that at some point all the dragons get reunited and Kadin is able to join them.
I've enjoyed this start to the series and I hope the next one is going to be as much fun as this one was.
One final note, if you've read Kadin and are expecting the same level of raunchiness from Asher, don't. You do get some steamy sex but you get a lot more plot and story from Asher. It's really a fun adventure ride.
