As a civil lawyer, I spent many, many years writing complex legal briefs for unappreciative bosses. To keep from stabbing myself (or them) in the eye with a fork during all of that, I also started writing down the stories in my head. All on my own time, of course ;) Turns out, I'm a sucker for hot, alpha male shifters and kickass heroines.
Now, I've thrown away my shingle (er - more like burned it in a fire pit) so I can devote my time to bringing you sizzling, erotic, paranormal romance stories. If you like hunky, bad boy shifters, women who know what they want in and out of the bedroom, panty-melting sex scenes, and edge of your seat suspense, I've got you covered! We'll put the rahr in erotic romance (okay, okay, that sounded better in my head).

Kimber White has penned another enjoyable paranormal romantic suspense novel with the fourth book in the Wild Ridge Bears series. It features bear shifter Rafe McCormack, alpha to one of the most powerful clans in Wild Ridge, Michigan. The bears on Wild Ridge are getting sick and dying. Rafe suspects witchcraft. As time is running out, he heads to Digby, Ohio, the home of the nearest coven. Talia Lear is 19 and hasn’t come into her powers. But when Rafe startles her, she finds out she’s a fire mage with little control over it.
Both have been raised to detest the other. Witches and shifters are mortal enemies and have been for 1000 years. But Rafe needs the help of the coven. He believes someone in the coven has caused the sickness and deaths at home and time is running out to contain it. Can they learn to work together for the good of all?
For such a short book, the characters have some depth and there was suspense throughout the novel. The romance between Rafe and Talia progresses at a rapid rate that is consistent with many fated-mates novels. There are a couple of spicy scenes and a major twist near the end of the story.
Overall, this is an engaging, compelling, and suspenseful novel with plenty of danger that kept me turning the pages rapidly. I’m looking forward to reading the next (and last) book in the series.
I purchased a copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. This book was originally published on March 13, 2017. -------------------------------------- My 3.48 rounded to 3 stars will be coming soon.
Title: Curse of the Bears Series: Wild Ridge Bears #4 Author: Kimber White
It is always a pleasure to open my email & find one of Kimber White books there. I’ve read every one of Kimber White books. This book stood out more cuz of change that Kimber White had made with the witches.
Shifters & witches don't mix. We seen that in the last book (Rebel of the Bears) with Simon…. Talia Lear was raised to believe shifters were the enemy. She never question this before until now
Talia was 19 & still hadn’t come into her power yet, her family & coven thought maybe she wasn’t ever going be true witch. Talia had been tested before when she was force to be part of when her Aunt was taken down for using “black magic “ on the shifters, & yet still her powers didn’t come to her…Until the night she met Rafe McCormack in the woods & she paralyzed him with the force of her new found powers
How could Talia make up for her mistake without letting the coven know there was Shifter in their mist?
Rafe is the Clan chief, & all the clans need answers why so many bear’s shifters are getting sick. Normally shifters don't die from a illness similar to the mumps..Rafe suspect’s witchcraft especially since Simon’s son was raised by witches for 5 whole years..
Rafe volunteers to go Salt Fork to see if he could find out anything from the witch coven that was there ( Circean coven). In the process Rafe found so much more
Thrilling, exciting & passionate story of two people leaning on each other throughout the raging storm of distrust…. Old wounds were hard to heal…for short story the author pack an lot in this book
Eagerly expecting the last book in this series
The Wild Ridge Bears Series reading order
1- Lord of the Bears 2- Outlaw of the Bears 3- Rebel of the Bears 4➦ Curse of Bears***** 5- Last of the Bears
➦Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion
➦**"I voluntarily reviewed this ARC" ..** .**In exchange for an honest review.**
It is always a pleasure to read a story from Kimber White. Also with this next part in the wild ridge bears series. You can read this book as a standalone without a problem.
There is an illness killing the shifters, while normally shifters don't die from a disease. So how is this possible? They suspect witchcraft and Rafe goes to find out more among the coven. But on his way he meets up with Talia, a witch who gets her powers as a witch because of him around. She is also his soulmate, but witches and shifters don't mix. It is forbidden. So how will this work out at both sides?
Mix in some extra drama of a man thinking Talia is his and you have a nail bitting story which I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know if everyhting would work out or not.
This story was great. I always enjoy the Wild Ridge Bears and this book did not disappoint. Hundreds of years of distrust cannot be undone over night.
It will take two individuals to try an overcame the hatread between these two factions. Will they survive just to be killed by the others? Will they be able to stem the lost of life? Can you defeat an evil that is already dead?
Read this book to find out the answers.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed this advance copy from the other with out obligation.
The bear clans of Wild Ridge are falling ill and dying. After a meeting of the clan alpha's, Rafe volunteers to go into witch territory in an effort to find a witch that will help them. Talia hasn't discovered her power and is in the woods. When Rafe surprises her she accidentally injures him with her power. Witches and bears are enemies, but Talia will try to help Rafe's people. Rafe and Talia are fated mates but they will have to fight Talia's coven and the bear clans to be together. These characters are exciting, sexy, and well written. Fantastic book, I loved it!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
I read this book voluntarily and absolutely fell in love with the story. Witches and Bear Shifters...what a concept and one that worked. Talia was definitely naive about what happened with she zapped Rafe, but the way he played it was just a wee bit underhanded. The action and suspense at finding out about what was causing the sickness among the shifters drew me in. It was like watching a face off because of something a dead witch had set in motion. And I absolutely loved the parting shot that Talia gave Toby. Now there is someone that needed to be taken down more than a peg or two.
One other aspect of this is that I've seen there are books yet to follow. I'm hoping that we are going to see a whole lot more happening with the witches and the bear shifters. This was my first read by Kimber White and it won't be the last.
In the long line of doing what's best for all, selling, war and dying hasn't been one of them. Working for a goal is what's best for all, till it's not. One thing is for sure, they must all work together if they want to survive the coming problem laid before them. An enemy they can't get to has left a nasty present for them all in hopes of finishing what they started. Will they find help in time? Or will they bring a war like they've never seen like decades before? Exciting read. Just can't get enough of this series. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review.
This is the fourth book in the Wild Ridge Bears series by Kimber White. There is witchcraft, an ancient blood curse, forbidden love and the ultimate sacrifice. Talia is a witch and Rafe is a bear shifter, there is a lot of distrust between them due to conflicts between the covens and the clans. Will they be able to work together to stop a deadly virus before it kills all the bear shifters? I love this book, the story is original with bad blood between the covens and the clans and the characters are great and work well together. This is an amazing read!
What a great story! Was not prepared for a surprise and then the end . . . OMG! Rafe is searching for answers plaguing his clan he is sent to find answers. Before he does he first finds a beautiful witch. The clash between them, the heat and the fire! Talia is his mate but not before she argues every step of the way. A great addition to the bear shifter series.
I was given this book in advance in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely love this book as I have all the other books kimber has written it truly is a great book packed with everything hot strong alphas its one of the best shifter books I have read I really would recommend this to anyone well maybe not the younger adult can defo get steamy lol
4.5 stars This was an excellent contemporary paranormal (witches & werebears) romance. The bears are suddenly sick and dying. Everyone believes it's an attack by the witches. Face as clan leader sets off to try to gain information to save the bears. Suddenly, he runs into a pretty girl and the minute she sees him her magic stirs. Talks and many of her coven believe she has no power but Rates appearance proves them wrong. Neither trusts the other because they have centuries of fighting and deaths behind them. A war is brewing and everyone will lose when it happens. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
This was the craziest one ever. I can't believe they lost so many of their bears and it was really the little boy the spell was tied to after all. Phenomenal.
The wild Ridge is the home and copper mine area for a few bear clans. They have stuck together and grown strong but a big problem has come up. Their clan men are getting sick and dieing. It's unheard of. They only thing that could be doing it is a curse and more then likely from their bitter enemies the Circean witches.
Rafe one of the alphas has to go out and find out who is doing this and find a way to stop them before they all die. Talia is a young Circean witch trying to connect to the source (her magic) but she wasn't able to until she ran into a Shifter (Rafe) in the woods. Once they meet everything changed including her life. She is connected to the source but she has another magic too. She is an Anam Cara. (A bear's mate) and she is Rafe's fated mate. WHAT was fate thinking? Lol Witches and shifters hate each other but that might not be enough to keep these two apart. The action is fantastic, the storyline is great with lots of twists and turns. I love the characters their so easy to connect to. Shifter fans your going to love it. Don't miss this one! Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
Good vs Evil a war of old is about to begin again. But who is really evil and who is really good. All the lines are blurred into one another. And all that is needed is a little push to set it off.
The Ridge Bears are up against magic so dark, it's killing them one by one. If this keeps up, who will be left after the on slaught? Can a young witch, whose power just came to fruit really be their only hope? What will Rafe Do? And how will he keep his little witch safe?
Talia has been trying to come into her powers. Being nineteen is a bit of a late bloomer to be a full blooded witch. But she is hoping beyond hope this last outing in the woods will help her or she will has to leave and never come back. What she didn't know that magic is every where even in the shifters she believes are her enemies, till she meets him Alpha bear shifter Rafe McCormack. And literally sparks and lightening will fly when they touch.
An ancient curse by witches had cost the life of most female bears. The bear clans on Wild ridge maintained the feud. Now, an illness is spreading on the mountain to all the clans. Were's are unaffected by normal illness. This had to be magic. That meant witches.
On his way to try to talk to the coven, Rafe was accidently injured by a novice witch practicing her craft. While she didn't realize he was a bear at first, she still took him away to help him. Both were enemies, yet the draw they felt was strong enough to overcome their people's hate. If that was all they had to worry about. Talia is brave enough to approach the bears to try to heal them. Only then does she find out the awful truth.
Will she be able to save them? Will the bears even give her that chance? If she can't or they won't what will happen to the couple? So many questions, so much love, and so much hate.
The author got some tears from me, knowing this is ultimately a romance with certain rules saved me. If you've been following the series, you will be happy for Rafe to find his one. If you haven't been following, this story does stand on its own. I'll warn you, you will want to read more. I am anxious for the final book in the series, sad to see it end, yet, happy to find a happy ending—I hope. I Voluntarily reviewed this free advanced read copy and not been compensated in any way
Another great installment of the Wild Ridge bears. As shifters have magic and witches have different magic they being fated mates seemed natural. Even if you consider all the past anonymity between the two magic users.
Rafe has found his mate and she's who he least expected. Talia is still trying to declare her powers. Fate has decided that their magic is linked and she's destined to be his.
This book is a thrilling continuation of characters that we met in Simon's books.
Another first-person, detailed-weaved book by Kimber White. This author never fails to mix just the right amount of character personalities with explosive lust! The result is always a page turner!
Bear clan Alpha Rafe McCormack and Coven witch Talia Lear shouldn’t even like each other, let alone be bonded mates, but Fate has other plans when the two cross paths and Rafe awakens her magic in a way she never realized. As the pair struggle to keep their feelings neutral, Rafe and Talia learn to work together, though it may very well put her coven and his clan to the brink of war. Will the pair give into the magical pull between them? Or will outside forces, and duties, keep them apart? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Title: Curse of the Bears Series: Wild Ridge Bears Book #4 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Kimber White Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #BearShifters #4Stars☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Another addition to Wild Ridge Bears this is absolutely captivating. What a writer Ms. Kimber is again I could put down the book. Talia Lear is a Circean Witch, her Coven is near Cambridge, Ohio. Talia has yet to get the "Source" at nineteen she should already have it. Being sent to a cabin in the woods to find it is the least of her problems, her Grandma Torres said don't come back without it. Frustrated with trying and trying to no avail to find the "Source" Talia doesn’t realize she has company, when she does all he'll breaks loose. Rafe McCormack is a Grizzly Bear Shifter plus Alpha to the McCormack Clan. Seven Bear Clans each owning there own part of the Wild Ridge Copper Mining Company in a town in Blackfoot Indiana. But something has made them so sick they were dying. All seven clans were affected but what is it? Autopsy and blood work showed absolutely nothing. Rafe's father Ansel swears it's the work of witches. Could that be possible? Did they put a spell on them because they recovered Simon's son from Cicean Coven? The bears were dying like hot cakes. Is this the end of Bear Shifter in Wild Ridge Mining. Is this an Act of War? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Rafe McCormack is Clan Leader for the McCormacks on Wild Ridge. Rafe is young alpha and working together with the other alphas on Wild Ridge Cooper Mines. An unexpected illness is sweeping through the clans and nothing can stop it. Or so it appears to be. Rafe's father swears it's a spell harming the clans. After the alpha meeting, Rafe decides to check out the source of illness back to a coven of witches. Talia Lear is a witch that hasn't receive her calling. Talia's grandmother says that it's sink or swim time for Talia. While Talia is in the misted of calling her power she strikes out a bear. Little did Talia know that her world was about to be turned upside down and inside out. When Talia discovers that the bear is actually a shifter she's even more horrified. Yet Talia is oddly attracted to Rafe at the same time as being horrified by his presence. Can Talia help Rafe? Will Rafe find the answers he seeks? Will Talia admit her attraction? Your answers await you in Curse of the Bear.
This series is fast becoming a favorite of mine. I love the story and characters! The story and characters are raw, real, honest, compelling, complex, intriguing, fascinating, down to earth, gritty, powerful, and charming too. I look forward to more from this series and author in the future.
This is another great read in this series Right from the first page it had your attention and you were really rooting for Talia and Rafe and hope they could help each other. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
For the Alphas of the Wild Ridge Bears life is about to change dramatically. Bears do not normally get diseases that can spread from one clan to another, but that is just what is happening and now they are starting to die. The Alpha's are at a loss to know what to do as they cannot pin point the problem. They have sent off samples to be tested at the Great Lakes University and nothing appears to be working to find a cure. Rafe's father Ansel is convinced magic is involved. He believes witches have put a spell on the bears. Rafe has chosen to go to the Circean witches to seek help. He ends up finding his mate who just happens to be a witch and the niece of the witch who took Simon's son and kept him for years until he found him again. Witches and bears do not mate, but Rafe and Talia are about to find out fate does not care who you are if are destined to be together. Thank you to Kimber White for the wonderful review copy. I absolutely love this series.
