I’ve always lived a sheltered life,
One where my every move has been decided for me and no decision has ever been my own. I thought I liked it that way. That I was content to let it continue…

I've never been hurt, or had my heart broken,
That was until my big sister was killed in a hit and run, leaving me alone amongst the men who have brought me up—the protectors I thought I trusted—but without her, things are suddenly beginning to change. The world around me is growing darker and more dangerous. The monsters who were lurking in the shadows are slowly coming out to play their sinister games with me and I have no idea where to turn to for help.

I never got to know who my sister truly was,
I need answers to the questions I’ve left it too late to ask. But, I have finally found a clue, and the only question is, am I ready to hear the truth? Will I be able to handle the depravity of the story I’ve yet to uncover?

So now it's all about to change,
My name is Dahlia Proctor. I’m the youngest daughter of the Black Knights Motorbike Club President, and this is the story of how my life has been turned upside down ever since my sister died…

Strap on your helmet and grip the handlebars while you take a ride with the Black Knights MC! This is my first read of Laura Morgan’s and I was impressed with the complexity in her storytelling! If you are looking for unpredictability, twists, mystery and flat out SHOCK then Rough Love is your next read!

I got to meet Dahlia, the shy, quiet, nerdy introvert who also happens to be the MC President’s youngest daughter! While reading this story I found myself both cheering and frustrated with her! At first I was thinking WOW, could she maybe wake up and look around at her life! How on a daily basis how can she miss so much! Then I found myself cheering Laura’s writing when she cracked Dahlia wide open and gave her breath!

There are few authors that I have come across who can write in such complexity of both story and character. At times I felt like I was pulled right into the character's world through the descriptive writing. Emotions can be a funny thing and sometimes it takes a minute to catch up to the raw vision that is captured in words. I found myself taking a minute more than once to process what was happening and to me that is a good thing. When a book is unpredictable and you find yourself rereading a passage, you know the author dug deep to express the moment. I didn’t reread to clarify, I read it again to feel the moment!

I really like the fact that this book is a standalone but has secondary characters that could easily develop the Black Knights members into a series. I feel that Laura left a door open to possibly dig deeper into the background of this MC Club! I have read many MC based series and I was captured by the mystery surrounding the plot. Rest assured, there is plenty of stuff that makes Rough Love a solid steamy read and it will keep you on your toes weaving in and out of the lanes!

Now I admit that I read all of Laura's books but I loved this one!!! Contains spoilers so read with caution!!!

Bikers, love, turf wars....it has it all and it was great!!!!!

Dahlia was always a Daddy's girl, behaved just how she was expected too, been all she could to be the perfect daughter. Suddenly has her life bubble well and truly popped by those she has spent her life adoring.

Tobin had previously been engaged to Dahlia'sister Dita, she couldn't be his. Given to him by those she loved the most and still reeling in grief, Dahlia is launched into a life she never saw coming.

Someone is out to hurt her family & the Black Knights.....rival gangs surely!? She needs to have her questions answered, she needs to feel at peace. Can love conquer all or will it all be destroyed in the process. Loyalty or betrayal..... Dahlia has to fight to save all she knows but at what expense?

This book has you hooked from the very start and you will be turning pages at speed.  Twists and turns, you love to hate but feel so confused! Another great write from Laura in this standalone book. Find yourself a day of peace because you'll not want to put it down!

What a thrilling ride of deceit, lies, and suspense!!!
There are triggers within the content of this book, and the author describes some scenes quite vividly.
I'm a huge fan of this author, and the pictures she paints in my mind.
Not many have the ability to make the reader feel like they're part of the story, and that's why I love this lady so much.

Dahlia and Tobin's tale is heartbreaking, heartwarming and as with most great books their journey towards a HEA is paved with tumultuous events.

Dahlia has protectors, many of them and her sheltered life makes her a little naive. I found her a little annoying at the start, but that soon dissipates as the author does a marvelous job with character development.

Black Knights MC rock! 🤘🏽

I was a bit iffy going into this book. It just seemed like it was going to be ok but decided to take a chance!
I was so happy that I did! Getting caught up in the lives of Dahlia and Tobin and Dita and all the rest of the family kept me going.
It was a page turner for sure.
I truly was engrossed with the happenings and sat anxiously waiting on what happens next.
I'd love to read more about Dahlia and Tobin and hope the author offers us either an epilogue or a new story into their lives.
4 stars...maybe even 4.5!
Definitely worth the read! Pick IT UP!

Must read!!!!

What a journey. The ups and do an have you gripped right through the book. You can see the intense connection between Daliah and Tobin from the start. I did want to slap the boy silly a few times, but he made up for it. This book sucks you in and doesn't let go. Fab read.

⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️ Five AH-MAZING Stars from Susan at Ladies Living in Bookland

Oh jeez this was not a book I expected from Laura Morgan at all. But given how much I adore her dark and dangerous writing it just seemed like a natural progression....Rough Love was going to be a journey and half!

Meet Dahlia...

Except:
At only twenty years old, I'd already completed two master's degrees and I had learned to speak three languages fluently. I'd never been drunk, had sex or taken drugs, and hardly had any friends. I wanted and needed for nothing and my father always saw to everything when it came to taking care of me. He controlled every aspect of my life, and I never once complained.

Garret, her father though would treat her like she was his very own princess. But she wasn't spoiled or greedy because of it. I switched between loving and loathing this character because of him immense control issues but overall, his love for his now only daughter, was sometimes muddled.

Excerpt:
...my father, Garret Proctor, is an exceptionally powerful man. As far as I've always been aware, he's no drug-lord or gangster, but still feared and respected by all those who frequented our home to talk business with him. No one messes with him and gets away with it, put it that way.

Being a part of Black Knights Motorbike Club was about to take drastic turn for Dahlia. All those things she hadn't faced or experienced before, were about to all face her head on. But how would she cope and what would it do to their father-daughter relationship?

Excerpt:
I'll do this for you Dad. But know this. I will hate you from now until the day I die for making me an object you traded, rather than a human being you love and respect.

Being thrust into a position Dahlia wasn't expecting, we the readers experience her highs, her lows and everything in between. Some scenes more dark than others, captured me and always kept me on the edge of my seat. Seeing the turmoil that Dahlia faced at stepping into her dead sisters shoes, of taking the life she should have had. And maybe some of the terror she even faced?

Excerpt:
Don't let him manipulate you like he did me. Be the strong and true woman I know you are beneath that quiet exterior. I'm sorry I couldn't have been a better big sister....

Jeez - I'm tearing up! Seriously. Get a grip Susan. But honestly, Laura Morgan can change my emotions to sit right alongside the characters she writes about. From the seriously steamy bedroom antics and heat, to the heart wrenching scenes you fear for her life. Then you have this little love story all mixed in too. There seriously isn't a dull moment!
This book is like a parcel. The layers of wrapping are like the emotions it envokes. Each chapter strips way more until you're left with the very core. Rough Love. As described!

Excerpt:
You've become the woman I always dreamed you'd be, the woman your mum once was. You'll make a wonderful wife and mother, but most importantly of all, you make us better men for knowing and loving you.

An absolute must read....I can't wait for more people to read and then I can divulge more without giving you lovely readers away too much.

Oh my what a story. I love Laura's books and it's no secret that I love MC books and the two worked so well together. This isn't your typical MC book it is so much more. This dark MC book is packed full of mystery and suspense and I will admit there was a few time I had to put my kindle down and I was like " why did you have to go there". There are so many twists and turns you won't know where you are at or which way the story is going and you will think you have the story Sussex out but then Laura decides nope you haven't and then goes off in another direction. Oh it will definitely keep you on your toes.
I loved most of the characters and hated a few too and it wasn't just centred on Dahlia and Tobin you got to see plenty of family life with the rest of the MC family and it has a storyline that had meet hooked from the very start.Laura has a way of bringing the words on the screen to life in a way that you feel like you are actually a fly on the wall watching the story unfold right in front of you. There are a lot of secrets being kept and Dahlia manages to uncover the. I loved Dahlia and Tobin they are the perfect match for each other and their chemistry is off the charts and oh my the sex is sizzling. At first I wasn't too sure about him but he soon won me over like he did with Dahlia. And the ending oh what an ending it was but it wouldn't be Laura's style if the ending didn't pack a punch and what a punch it was. It left me reeling and lost for words. I will definitely be recommending this book.

What a story!! I always know when I’m going to be in for a good read when the synopsis leaves me wanting more and that is what happened when I first read the one for this book! I just literally could not wait to get started and I tell you I was NOT disappointed! I have read a few of this authors books and I just love her writing style! The books flow so well and are easy to read. I often get annoyed when books are disjointed and have a storyline hard to follow but there was none of this at all with this book!
There are twists and turns everywhere in this MC stand-alone novel and it makes for one exciting read! I admit I do like a MC book and this is probably one of the best that I have read! It had a unique storyline that grabbed me from the start and kept my attention until the very end and beyond – I didn’t want it to end! This is definitely one of those books that I will go back and read again!
With the fabulous descriptive writing that this author puts into her books it is pretty easy for you to imagine what you are reading – I do love this in a book!
I liked the characters of Dhalia and Tobin . Although I wasn’t too sure about Tobin to begin with I warmed to him over the story!
I definitely recommend Rough Love to anyone who loves a MC novel but is looking for something a little bit different! Believe me you will not be disappointed!!

Rough Love by Laura Morgan

First off, this is an MC standalone novel, it has some dark subjects that may cause triggers for some.
When I first saw the blurb for this book I was excited. It's an MC book with a completely different twist to any MC book I've ever read before. I have read all of Laura's work and it has been incredible to read how much her confidence is growing in her work and it is absolutely a sight to behold.

Rough love takes us on a journey like no other. You see a completely different side to life in an MC and it was thoroughly enjoyable and I couldn't put it down.
The detailing and descriptions are thorough and leave nothing to the imagination. The story flows well with good progress right through the book. There are some super serious WTH moments in here which in turn just makes you need to keep reading to find out what the hell is going to happen next!

The characters are fantastic some you will hate then love and visa versa but either way you will enjoy what this story and these characters have to offer you. Your emotions will be all over the place throughout this book with the amount of things that's going on. Of course in true Laura Morgan style there are plenty of twists and turns throughout this story to keep you guessing and wanting more.

5 stars from me!

What an amazing book. Out of Laura's adult books, this is by far my favorite. It includes explicit sexual details as well as abuse, so it is for those 18+. While I would never encourage someone to not read a book, if physical or sexual abuse is not something you can handle reading about, this book is not for you.

I highly recommend this book to those who love MC books and romance.

I love the characters, well most of them. Dahlia is the lead female. She is the quiet, why reserved 20 year old daughter of The Dark Knights President. She spends her time reading and studying. She is also much more observant than anyone realizes. Club life is all she has ever known, but she hopes to be able to put her college degrees to work and make a life for herself.

Tobin is the VP off The Black Knights. Previously engaged to Dahlia's sister Dita, he now has his eye on Dahlia. Now, he just has to convince her father and her that he wants to be with her.

This book is full of twists and turns. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last. The book is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author has done a great job portraying the characters, their emotions and the experiences they go through.

I want to start of by saying this is the first book I've read from this author, and I'm so glad it was! It's set me up to want to read everything she's ever wrote, I love her writing style!

This isn't your typical MC story which I liked, it had twists and turns in it that you just weren't expecting. Just when you think someone's the good guy, you're slapped round the face and left on the edge of your seat. I COULD NOT put it down!

It follows the story of quiet, introverted Dahlia who is the baby of her family. A terrible accident is the cause of her cotton-wool wrapped world to go crashing down when it opens up a whole load of questions about the people she once thought she could trust. I had whiplash from liking/hating her dad so much and all the plot twists left me in suspense and kept me gripped. When I thought it was going to go one way, Laura threw in something else. Tobin was just... yum! At first (for obvious reasons you'll see when you read the book) I hated him. But as the story unwinds, you fall that little bit more in love with him.

All in all, it was a brilliant, captivating read, and I can't wait to read more from this author.

Not as expected

I'm not sure why this book is considered dark. On the contrary, Dahlia is sweet young girl who lives in a bubble created by her MC family. She is well behaved, no drama girl. It is a lovely story with some twists and turns but I failed to experience excitement or enough darkness to get me engaged in it. I was not looking for this kind of story when I picked up this title. As such I'm quite disappointed.

I had also problem with the writing style. At times the descriptions of scenes were too long and boring almost felt like an account of daily activities, what they ate, how they cleaned the house, what shopping they did etc. There should be more of adventures and suspense, more heart stopping moments in the story than plain daily descriptions.

So overall although I was expecting dark exciting story it did not live up to my expectations. I'm sorry to give negative feedback but what I read about this book did not match what I found.

Rough Love by Laura Morgan

This book was reviewed by Kathryn Dee for CLiK Book Blog.

This is my first Laura Morgan book and I'll definitely be seeking out more in the future.

Rough Love explores the relationships between Dahlia, the quiet and very sheltered daughter of a MC President Garrett and Tobin, the Vice President of the same club.

The death of Dahlias sister Dita, the secrets that are kept under wraps by the club heirarchy and the undercurrent of manipulation by Dahlias Father, brothers and her lover Tobin, all add to the suspense and tension felt throughout the story.

Not my normal read but I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of the story and the detail that Laura Morgan poured into every aspect of it.

Definitely recommended reading.

I loved all of Laura's book and now I can add this one to the list, this stand alone book is dark and twisted but also a romance. I was so sad to finish it and did drag out the last 20%! Great Read.

This is my first Laura Morgan book and it won't be my last.
This story drew me in straight away. I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down.

This book is full of twists and turns secrets and lies. I honestly didn't know who to trust.
I started out hating certain characters then the more I got to know them I thought ok maybe I'm wrong.
Then I didn't trust them again and it went on back and forth my head was spinning. But I think it was purposely done that way to keep us on the edge, and that's what kept me intrigued.

I was dying to know what the hell was going on.
When it finally started to come together and the answers to secrets were revealed I was shocked. I didn't see certain things coming. But I loved how it all came together.

I loved this book it was exciting and dangerous and it shows you just don't know who you can trust.

I'm hoping there's more to come from the Black Knights MC because I'd love to read more.

This book is just full of twists.. turns.. lies...angst...deceit and i seriously had no idea who to trust at some parts of this story!!
Hot alpha males who happen to be MC members you know instantly this will be a fab read!
The story starts with Dahlia who is the daughter of MC president losing her sister Dita in a hit and run accident.. the whole family are shaken up and her dad and brothers decide that she need closer protection and make a deal with someone that you least expect them too.
So so many plot changes you just need to keep turning those pages to find out what is happening next!

The book deals with some pretty heavy topics so be aware of that before reading.
I enjoyed the story in general but just didn't seem to be able to connect with any of the characters, they felt a little bit like their actions weren't fully consistent all the time, but that might just be me

Wow. I'm certainly the minority because I DNF at 10%. Disliked the complacent little girl routine, maybe she gets a back bone further into the story but I couldn't even bring myself to get that far. I'm not writing off the author entirely because I try not to do that based on one book but this to me was annoying from the get go.

Rough Love is a MC romance novel that promised much more than your average biker story. It is engraved with the darkest secrets you can imagine and they are all out in the open, hiding behind a smile or two and people you were supposed to trust. I must confess I don’t always like to read about sisters because there is always, at some point, some comparison between them and this book was no exception. Nevertheless, I believe the comparison was much needed for the plot development and to veil the story with the mystery it enchants the reader with.
Dita is the oldest daughter of the President of Garret Proctor, president of the notorious Black Knights MC. She is too wild, independent and likes to believe she can do anything whenever she wants to. Sincerely, to some point, I understand her need for independence when she is surrounded by alpha male that would try to control your every move otherwise. On the other hand, Dhalia is shy, timid, and obedient. She was groomed to be dependent of her family and club. Perhaps it wasn’t on purpose or, perhaps, they didn’t want her to ever leave the club. Honestly, I would never be 100% sure if that is the case and that terrifies me because everyone in the book seems to have their own set of masks, which they used accordingly. These two are like day and night but in their differences, lay hints of the darkest secrets that the Black Knights MC are so insistent on hiding. I couldn’t help but be surprised at the turn of every page. You will think you have each character figured out but that is never the case. Truth be told, even as the story ended I still doubt I know the true face of any of the main characters. In fact, that is something I love about this novel and I wouldn’t change for the world.
I loved how Dahlia was forced out of her cocoon when the mask of her family started to come off. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but being frustrated by the amount of drama that takes place in the club’s shadows. Betrayal and lies were at every corner and I turned myself into a detective while I trying to figure out what else that notorious club and its members were hiding from each other and the world. I loved the complexity of the characters of the plot that the author developed. I loved how I seemed to think I had everything figured out by there was much more to everything than there seemed. To my surprised, agreed that the ending the author wrote for this novel was the best option. I wish I could tell you what it was but I will be spoiling the novel. However, I can safely tell you that the ending is full of the darkness and mystery that make this novel so unique and addictive.

A Fabulous Dark MC Romance
Rough Love is a fantastic walk on the dark side by the talented and versatile author Laura Morgan.  I LOVED it! It does have a HEA, but it is most definitely a white knuckled ride! Dahlia, hitherto the protected younger daughter of the President of a powerful MC club, finds herself thrust into the limelight after a family tragedy. It's sink or swim as she strives to cope with her new role, the man who her father practically gifts her to and the darkness that is closing in.
After the tragic death of her sister, Dahlia finds that she is to replace her as the fiancée of Tobin, the oh so sexy alpha Vice President of the Black Knights Motorbike Club. Dahlia, unlike her sister, has always been a good girl, the apple of her father’s eye, and finds that she is very soon out of her comfort zone. She is shocked at the methods her father employs to compel her towards the union with Tobin and it will take all of her inner reserves to not only assert herself against the powerful will of the men in her life but also the sinister threat to her safety which emerges as she tries to find out about her sister’s last days.
The book is a compulsive, sexy and suspenseful read with some dark themes and scenes - definitely not a read for those under 18, as stated in the blurb. It very much represents the coming of age of the central character Dahlia, the heroine, as she comes to terms with secrets within the Black Knights Motorcycle Club and beyond, her new responsibilities and her relationships with Tobin, her father and others. With all that has happened and what she finds out in her quest to find out what happened to her sister, it is a constant battle to know who to trust. Should she have left her sibling's secrets well alone or is it now too late and will she have to face the shocking consequences?
I loved the romance between the central couple. Dahlia is wildly attracted to Tobin (and who wouldn’t be – serious hottie alert)! They get off to a less than stellar start and are in many respects opposites – Dahlia the quiet, studious geek and Tobin the alpha, with a bad boy reputation.  Can their fledgling relationship survive what is revealed? How can Dahlia ever replace her larger than life sister and become the partner of the President in waiting?  Their romance is a complex one with many sizzling and heartfelt scenes.
Rough Love is a brilliant read for fans of dark romance and is thoroughly recommended!

I love Laura Morgan's books so was excited about Rough Love. I absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down. It had me gripped from beginning to end, which I didn't want it to end. I hope we have more of the Black Knights MC. Definitely a MUST read.
