Planet Panic: Notes from the Queen of Procrastination

Rate this book
Crazy things keep happening to Pam Pastor and she is left with no choice but to chronicle them. In this second collection of stories, she tells us:

How Pong Pagong ended her shot at stardom;
Why her grandma burned all her trolls when she was in sixth grade;
How she terrorized her brother on Facebook;
Why she became a flower girl at 31;
How a New York socialite almost kidnapped her;
How she learned survival skills from Bear Grylls; and
Why taxi drivers think she’s the white lady of Balete Drive.

There are also tales about dead rabbits, Potato Corner, thirty bras, hospitals, a missing terrarium, New Kids on the Block, beer, and balikbayan boxes. Fun for the whole family.

I used to blog obsessively and I did it here.

Then I stopped because I discovered pictures and adventures and the bliss of living my life offline. Between exploring secret destinations and finding greater heights I can jump from, I managed to post a few blog entries here. And I posted a lot of pictures here.

Then, while writing a magazine column on why I stopped blogging, I discovered that, holy shit, I used to write better when I was blogging obsessively.

...

Oh and I’m 30, I work for a newspaper, I have a book out, I write, I sing, I make cupcakes, I explore the world, I love, I drink beer and I obsess about nail polish.

This is a fun book and a throwback to the times when people wrote about their day, instead of posting photos or uploading videos on social media. Chuckled many times reading Pam’s adventures, most of which I’ve heard straight from her (disclosure: she’s a friend), but her gift of storytelling makes them fresh and savory each time. PS: I still have my Muji tabo!
