Adam Blade is the house name for the Working Partners Ltd. ghostwriters who write the Beast Quest and Sea Quest series.

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings of historic English battles – which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father’s office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.

As a boy, Adam would spend days imagining who could have first owned the sword and shield. Eventually, he created a character – Tom, the bravest boy warrior of them all. The idea for Beast Quest was born.

When Adam grew up and decided that he wanted to be a writer, he was stuck for ideas – until he remembered the old sword and shield, and the imaginary boy he had created when he was young. Adam decided to bring Tom fully to life so that readers could go on the kind of adventures that he always wanted to when he was that age… And still does, even though he’s grown up!

When he’s not writing Beast Quest books, Adam enjoys visiting museums and ancient battle sites. His main hobbies are fencing and football. He also spends a lot of time at home running around after his two exotic pets – a tarantula named Ziggy, and a capuchin monkey named Omar. These little rascals were the inspiration for two of the Beasts that Tom faces on his Quest – Arachnid and Claw.

Sadly, Adam does not have his own Fire-Dragon or Horse-Man. But he really wishes he did!

This new adventure is a bit weaker than the previous one. If what I enjoy are anti-heroes and evil characters, in a childrens book I don't expect that. I expect good values of life, for a child. Then when he grows up it's expected that he learns that the world is a bit different. That there are different kinds of lies, that not all that shines is pure and good. And so on... So I didn't expect Elena to convice our main character to steal a boat. That was unexpected. This is a straightfoward tale about Adam, his friend Elena (Both around 9 or 10), her wolf (Silver) and his horse (Storm) as they travel from land to land to find a free the beasts imprisioned by an evil magician, which never appears, well so far.

It's not very imaginative even by children standards of tv series. An this book was a bit quick. There wasn't really a challenge and all seems to easy...

Nevertheless my opinion still stands. This will be a nice introduction to my future, to born, well to be conceived, children to fantasy. I can imagine telling a tale per night, or so to him/her.

Follows the original concept and it was a good story line. It still had the adventurous side to it but was a tad samey in places.

WHAT WAS THAT so they were walking as usual then a tidal wave came to them I thought please tell me it is a decent book

it was not..

First of all Tom and that farm girl who looks like Michael Jordan went to a village and needed a boat but the only boat there was broken and they needed rope and suddenly rope appeared I just dont get it and they needed to fight the sea serpent and free it but what I would've done was ride the sea serpent straight into the evil wizards castle sliced him in half cause I'm just built like that ask the nice wizard can I go back to earth please cause you just abduct a 11 year old and forced him to fight monsters then when he says no I will call out that girl who looks like Michael Jordan then she will crack his ankles since he is like what 500 years old then I will drop kick him but im not done I proceed to cut all over his body then get a pool of handsanitiser all over his body then squeeze lemon in his eyes and when he is not looking I will shove a bolling pin in his mouth and make a museum and put his body up in the museum and sit back and relax knowing I saved the monsters

I do not like this book because I do not like sea serpents. I enjoyed this book because it was a little more exciting than the first Beast Quest book. I also enjoyed this book because I liked the part when Tom freed the sea serpent from the evil wizard's golden chain.

Now Tom and his friend Elenna have to free the Sea Serpent called Sepron from a magical chain which makes him angry. The huge serpent has been scaring away fish from a fishing village, smashing boats, and as the young warriors approach the shore it even causes a tidal wave (otherwise known as a tsunami, but not in the kingdom of Avantia).

Can the two free the serpent without harming him - or being drowned?

I enjoyed this tale which shows how a sea beast needs to be free to roam. The pictures are just enough to illustrate the action. Suitable for young readers from six or so up to ten depending on reading level.

In this book Tom and Elenna go on there 2nd adventure. They have to travel to the ocean to free Sepron from a evil curse ,in the form of a gold lock, put on him by Malvel an evil sorcerer. If Tom and Elenna don't stop Sepron he will flood Avantia. This was a good book but an easy read for me.

The reason I didn't like this was due to the fact that I thought it was a total rip off of the Quest of Deltora. I mean, the first book was just a watered down version with different names!

I'm reading this for the second time. I think it was kind of good because the story was mostly looking for Serpron. On the other hand, the other part is the fun part, when Tom fights Serpron.

Aduro the good wizard has sent Tom and Elenna to free the Beasts that Marvel the Dark Wizard is now in control of. The six Beasts formerly protected people but now they ruined what they had been protecting. Sepron the sea serpent had kept fish in abundance for the fisherman and protected them from storms. Now no fish were in the ocean and a Tidal wave struck the fisherman's village.

Tom and Elenna can't tell the villagers what they are doing. But they must free the chain that keeps Sepron bound to the Evil Wizard's control. The Tidal Wave has left the village without boats except for one which needs repair. Elenna sets about fixing the boat and Tom asks if he can borrow it. The villagers refuse. It's all they have left to work with.

Will Tom and Elenna face Sepron and free the great Serpent? Tom offers to leave his horse and wolf cub with the villagers as an act of faith that they will return.

Once they are out on the sea Sepron chases them and Tom tries his key to open the collar that binds the beast. It doesn't work and Tom loses the key. Tom decides to attempt it again with his blade. Luckily this time he succeeds.

The image of Aduro congratulates Tom and Elenna, and then he sends them on their next Quest. All Six Beasts must be freed.

For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleI'll admit, one of the main reasons I bought the first four books in this series from the clearance bin was because they reminded me of theDeltora Quest series. Having now finished the second book, they are suspiciously similar to Emily Rodda's books. Not to say that they are a ripoff of the series, but the whole blacksmith's apprentice sets out to save the land, collecting powerful items from each task he completes is surprisingly familiar.Anyway, overall this was a good book. As with the first one, the pace is nice and quick. I can see this being popular with reluctant young readers. A lot happens in a short amount of pages. Overall, well-written despite being less than original. A good, quick read with entertaining adventures and interesting sketches throughout that go along with the story.

Well, yaah...untuk ukuran negeri yg punya Lima mahluk fantasy pelindung, Avantia terlalu biasa2 untuk ukuran rakyat-nya. Meskipun sihir Aduro kedengeran-nya keren tp bahkan Tom yg dia utus ngga dikasih bekal sihir apa2.

Age: from 9 years old.
My daughter picked this book, read it, and now she wants the whole collection of books. I had to know what was the book about because the cover presents it as scary and I don't want her having nightmares because of this. She was right, it is only the book cover what is scary. The book is very light to read, it includes some colorless illustrations (drawings) with a friendly tween style. There is a hero boy, and a girl helping him. There was a part about the girl convincing the boy to steal a boat in order to help the villagers. Not nice at all and definitely something to talk about, but besides that, the book was fine.
My daughter can read the other books of the collection, all right :-)

Re-reading this was very enjoyable. I found that I picked upon several things s that I did not before, like for instance, the deepening mystery of Tom's father and what's going on with him. I also noticed that it paid attention to how Tom was missing his Aunt and Uncle nearing the end. Yet I also found how Mr Blade used the animals very well as they were good at setting up the danger and heightening the danger of Serpon.
Yet I also found that this was a good character development moment for Tom as he is presented with a tough choice. Yet, even though as it is a children's book, it worked out in the end but the fact that Mr Blade brought it up here was quite surprising. So I must admit that I enjoyed it and even though it is fast paced I highly recommend it.

I remember reading this book almost 20 years ago when I was in the third grade. I had borrowed it from a classmate and though I don't remember ever reading other books in the series, I know I loved this one. For the past decade and a half I've been trying on and off to find this book with the only detail I could recall being the sea serpent on the cover. Cut to today when I'm scrolling through a random list of children's books and I come across this and instantly know it's what I was looking for! Anyway, my nostalgia has been piqued and I'm ready to go down a rabbit hole of books I read as a child.

This is a great series of books to encourage a reluctant reader. The English is of a pretty good standard and the plots have plenty of action.
My son was not really into reading and these ones turned it around - as the books are small and the font is big, they give the reader a sense of progression and the achievement of being able to read a whole book on their own. I have fond memories of reading them aloud at bedtime.

Tom is the boy that is destined to free all the beasts from evil wizard Malvel's curse. This is the 2nd book of beast quest. Right now he has to free Sepron, The Sea Serpent. The story is about Tom and his companion Elenna who have to meet many people. Finally they try to unlock Sepron but they realize that it is a different type of key. Then he takes his sword and unlocks Sepron and then as a gift Sepron gives his loose tooth. I really enjoyed the book.

I read this today because my 6 year old picked it up from the library and is currently reading it. It says 7+ on the back so I wanted to find out if it was scary at all and if it was age appropriate for him. It was a very cute read and not too scary at all! Anything “bad” that happens is very quickly resolved, I think the writing is perfect for my son to read and the perfect introduction to fantasy for him!
