Dead and Breakfast Aunt Kara wants to rename the Tree’s Hollow Bed and Breakfast, so she holds a contest to find the perfect new name. The prize for winning the contest? Death. That wasn’t Kara’s intention, but there’s another murder none the less. At least this time the body wasn’t found in the inn. Why would someone kill the winner? This book is a cozy mystery with no swearing, violence, or adult content. It is the second book in the Tree’s Hollow Witches series. Brewing Trouble is suitable for all ages.
Sara Bourgeois is a Midwesterner through and through. She spends her time writing, reading, herding cats, and standing in her driveway during tornado warnings. (You can't see them from the basement.)
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
While this has some fairly decent mystery aspects to it, it is more of a romance story looking into the developing relationship between Lenora and Nathan, and also her new best friend Esmerelda and Sheriff Brad Hanson's newly budding romance.
The story has well developed characters and a solid plot line. It has some humor in it along with plenty of intrigue and dangerous situations. My only complaint is the story ended and the next one started with what would normally be the next paragraph in the same book.
Ok so I'm just sure how to feel about this. Nathan's reaction to Lenny being a witch seems to be completely blase about it and it mimics her reaction to finding out. It's like everyone is just going around half believing that witches actually exist. I will say that the ending was just mean, but that's all I'll say about it.
I do love the book the mystery line of the book is interesting. How Lenny's magic helps her in the investigation is a fun little twist to the other books that I've read in the mystery genre. The characters are just so adorable especially Esme and Brad when they are together.
This is still a really cute book even if the characters aren't realistic.
Lenny and Nate were having dinner when a waiter dropped a tray of food and drinks. Despite the distraction, Nate gave her a beautiful necklace to formalize their exclusive relationship. Before Lenny could stop herself, she blurted that she loved it – and loved him too! Smiling, he admitted he felt the same. But before the joyous celebration could really begin, a man at the next table has a massive heart attack and dies! When the man’s spirit walks over to tell Lenny the woman he was with killed him, she has to retreat to the coat closet for privacy. Not a great beginning for this important date with her boyfriend!
Getting ready for bed, there was scratching at the window and Lenny saw a witch hovering outside! Esme introduced herself and invited Lenny and her familiar, Jezebel, to come for a walk with her. They went to Kizzy’s cabin and they worked on helping Lenny learn to shield her thoughts better. After all, even her cat could easily hear her thoughts half the time! More adventure is coming her way! Is she ready to jump in the middle of things again?
This is a very cute story. Lenny is a very likeable character who is still getting used to her witch powers and meeting new friends. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it, along with the previous book in the series.
Want to get away from everything pick up this story and read it. .It will take you away from everything that's bothering you and make you smile and giggle as you follow the characters through this lovely story
a quick and clean book that tells the story of a new witch, a guy, and a small town. i started and finished the 1st 3 books in this series on a Sunday. not a dark story there is a small mystery to solve.
Oh what a cliffhanger! This is a better book than earlier ones, though less mystery and more romance. If you hate cliffhangers, be sure to download the next book before finishing this one!
She needs Nathan as much as she needs air! Don't you dare ! It would spoil the next book! Even if he's a ghost it's not the same . And I speak from first-hand experience.
Lenny has a lot on her plate trying to solve murders, forging a relationship and staying one step ahead of a killer. It was a good read with some sweet and funny moments. The end was a cliffhanger and a serious one but I can't wait to read what happens next.
Cute mystery, magic, death, love interest. Magical sassy familiar cat. This book was delightful.Must read the next book to finish this book. It left you hanging. Scary ending but worth the read.
Good read but still a bit chaotic. We kind of glaze over the murder...like oh you did it moving on. And then Nathan telling Lenny about Irene and just ghosting her. What the crap! It’s a whorl wind romance that take like a week and they are engaged to I think we need to be apart because I’m afraid of Irene. So all over the place.
Thin premise, a Pollyanna character, and narrative driven. It was an okay read, but overly syrupy for my tastes and there was no indication as to the culprit of the mob plot until the end.
I love this story. It made me laugh and cry. The characters were wonderful. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age who enjoys a good mystery.
I really honestly loved both of the (Tree Hollow Witches Books) They were cute stories and I really liked the fact that they were clean. The Characters you couldn't help but Love all of them. I hope that their will be more in the future. Hopefully all will be well with Nathan. And Maybe Aunt Kara will find love.
Arc review For honest review. This story is of Kenny and Nathan's relationship and a case that Kenny is on . I enjoyed this story but the ending bits now I'm going to have to read more. Lol
Funny, dramatic and a bit suspenseful story. Lenora and Nathan are a happy couple and when Nate asks her to make things official, she is eager to accept - but the moment is tainted by suspicious death of a Russian man. Lenny investigates the case while she organizes her life - new friends, new house, future husband and his crazy ex, aunt's business.. there is a lot going on in Tree' s Hollow. Quick, light and funny read, nothing to think hard about. Nice plot and character development, although the explanation of murder motives was a bit awkward, unrealistic and shallow and it ruined the general impression I got from the story. However, I very much liked the main characters and how their personalities crystalize which balanced the weird feelings from the murder case climax. This is so far the best story in this series anyway.
Once you start you won't want to put it down. Lenny is still learning about her powers and who to trust as people begin to die in Tree' s Hollow. The ending will have you (and me) reaching for book3 in series.
