One day, walking home from school, he meets a woman who introduces him to the magical power of the Universe and soon his whole life changes. This is a heartwarming, funny story that carries an important message about how to live. One reader 'It has brought a tear to my eye; made me laugh out loud; taken me back to some bad memories of many, many years ago; and resonated with my life now. Inspired, truly inspired.' Some have hailed it 'food for the soul', while others believe it 'reveals the simplicity and magic of life.' This is a book for everyone, adults and children alike. It may just change your life.To find out more about the book, you can follow the author's blog follow him on Twitter @JimsDMGreen
This book was just absolutely fantastic! I’ve been recommending it to all of my friends and family. Great for all children AND adults. Has really changed the way I think about life, and adopting the approach of ‘faith, not fear’
This is one of the most wonderful books I have ever read. It is a profound book that can change lives. If this beautiful book was read by everyone our world would be a more peaceful kinder place. Thank you for giving us such an inspiring book and writing about a truth to which we can all relate if we so choose too.
A lovely story about the power of believing in the Universe
This book found me and I'm glad that it did. I've read a number of more factual type books on this topic so was intrigued to see what it would be like in story form. It was a lovely story and backed up my belief in the power of the Universe. I found it quite an emotional read but in a good way, I had tears rolling down my cheeks a couple of times but also a smile on my face. I read it in two days, which with two kids around was quite an achievement for me! I'm really glad this book found me and I'm looking forward to reading the second one as soon as I can. If you believe in the power of the Universe, or even if you don't (yet!) give this a read it won't disappoint.
An enjoyable read. It has strong religious undertones but ultimately I didn't view this as a religious book. I felt it was teaching the reader about having faith in yourself, seeing a silver lining in every cloud and being kind to others. Those are ultimately life lessons just told in an imaginative way. I did wonder the audience the author had in mind when writing the book - young adult perhaps? I'd recommend if you are feeling a bit down in the dumps and need to restore a bit of faith in life.
Having read and in the process of actively practicing Genevieve Davis’ Becoming Magic, which is a How To on manifesting that actually works for me (!), I love to finally get to read a work of fiction on the same subject. Basically, I need reminders that the Universe is on my side, that when I relax and trust, stop complaining, am genuinely grateful for the hundreds of small gifts in my life and ask the Universe for help — Magic happens.
There are so, so few stories offering this experience of the world, so this one was a quick pleasure to immerse myself in. It’s nof the most stunning prose, and didn’t necessarily offer new insights, but it doesn’t need to. It’s a nourishing meal in a deluge of fast food books. Personally, manifesting has been much harder than the story presented here, so I wouldn’t see it as a guide but more of an inspiration. Nevertheless, delighted it exists and hope to see many more stories like this soon!
I found this book to be a nice book at first. It is a story about a boy called Jim who has a problem with worrying. He meets and befriends a woman who teaches him the secret of the universe.
What annoys me is the meaning behind the book. The book's conception of the divine is one of pantheism. This is that the conception of god being in all things rather than a distinct being. That is fine. Then there are a load of Bible quotes thrown in and a section from Islam too. What religion is this trying to be? Clearly, it is trying to be spiritual with no defined position but the description of spirituality has at times vagueness and inconclusiveness.
The story was okay other than that. I think it is aimed at young teenagers I suppose.
I wanted to give this terribly boring book one star but the sentimentalist in me bumped it up because the ending was cute. Not much happens in the book, it’s all about the power of positivity the whole law of attraction thing but should definitely be targeted for children of primary school age because that’s the only age I can imagine enjoying this book. Sure, it has a lovely, verging on religious, message in it but I didn’t care about a single character in the novel and the incessant use of the word ‘bruv’ made me irrationally angry.
So yeah, 2 stars. Cute, but not anything of literary worth.
My 12 year old and I read this together. His review: "I liked this book. It's uplifting and happy with some sad parts but overall I think it is, like, a very good book and can make you feel better about yourself and about your life."
I agree. This is a straightforward, heartfelt story about Jim, an 11 year old boy, as he learns about philosophy, religion, and choosing optimism. It's aimed at tweens but is a refreshing read for any age. I found myself talking to the Universe like Jim after reading it, with a surprising amount of success.
Good. Just about good. There is a lot I liked about this, the characters are good, the story is good, the overall message is heart warming. The one real problem with it is that it takes the positive mental attitude message too far. The basic positive thinking is fine but this turns it magical which is not good. If you overlook that then this is a not a bad book. Overall I would recommend it but with slight reservations.
My only regret was the book was too short. A lovely story, though after the first couple of pages you could guess the end or was that just having faith in the universe. Would have been disappointed if it ended any other way. Consider it a Jostein Gaarder novel for the younger reader. Would have had a great impact on a fourteen old me.
I’d seen this advertised on Facebook and having just read the Alchemist I felt it would be a good read in a similar vain. I was not disappointed this was a quick and enjoyable read and I would recommend it for all to read. It has a significant tale to tell and learn from. “Often our failures are successes in disguise”
I was looking for a totally different genre of book a few hours ago when something made me click on this one. What a beautiful, uplifting story! I ended up reading the whole thing in one go. It's been years since I finished a book. It's an exhilarating read and filled me with incredibly positive emotions.
Brilliant book for children and adults of all ages
I felt this book inspired me to think deeply about my own thoughts and fears, and to take a moment to question, am I at one with the universal Energies that bring joy to our lives and others or has fear disconnected me from my universe energies.
Absolutely beautiful....a great teacher for young and old alike. Loved it 😍
A great introduction to the law of attraction and positive thinking....a gem of a book. Simple and very effective. The prayer at the end is just perfect.
A simply beautiful story, life affirming and motivational.
A simply beautiful story, life affirming and motivational. Rang true with a few ways I like to live my life, but told through a young boy's story. Fab.
For a short story, this is fantastic. It pulls together so many strands of things I know and have learnt over my lifetime and they now make sense. It's like I had all the pieces of a jigsaw, but now I have the picture too. Thank you
loved every word of this story and a great lesson for us all to learn. It's the law of attraction in action, in it's simplest form. Definitely worth reading
This book has unexpectedly stolen my heart and made everything seen a little brighter after reading it. Lots of things resonated with me and even made me cry. Thank you for this precious little book.

I was a bit sceptical when I first chose this book but it's simplicity and realism is refreshing and gives you food for thought. I loved it and didn't move until I'd finished it.

One of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read, intertwined with powerful messages. It’s a book that genuinely challenged and changed my own beliefs and is one I still think about years later. I’d recommend this book to anyone, old or young, and is a beautiful gift.
I absolutely loved this book and the undercurrent of faith represented in it. I wish it had been available during some hard times in my life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story of life with a bit of miracles thrown in.
Beautifully written reduced me to tears and made me smile. A lovely read that will appeal to young readers and adults. It changed my mindset or reminded me at a time I needed to breathe a little.
First days at senior school. He needed a friend. An old lady helped him to Put his life in order. I'm the simplest way. Yes I would recommend this book!
