No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up. But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.
When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!
Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.
Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.
Zeke Fletcher is a judge on Sing It as a favor to his former bandmate Jared Reed and he knows that there are rules about fraternizing with the contestants but something keeps drawing him to Ariel Lexington. Ariel is on the show due to her relationship with with Jared's cousin Lucy who is her best friend but she has talent.
As secrets are revealed and Zeke and Ariel's relationship begins to heat up will the show implode?
I really enjoyed this book and the authors first book into the "rock star" world.
I thought Zeke was awesome and I loved how he really admitted how much he had to clean up his past and what he was going for in the future. He wanted something with Ariel and knew that there was a couple of sides to her due to her stage fright.
Ariel was sweet and really needed to be with Lucy as to take some of the pressure off of her. I loved that she was able to listen to Zeke and learn from him!
Looking forward to reading more about these two soon!!
2) Rock Me Softly by Lisa Kumar
I loved Lucien Blackhawk and how he wanted to take a step back from his busy and crazy life after a bad break up. He was a complete gentleman and I loved how he wanted more with Jessica and it was paining him to stop the physical part of their relationship.
Jessica Rawlings was great and I'm glad that the author mentioned her size but at the same time kind of sad due to the way society still portrays women. She had no clue on why Lucien would be interested in her. I liked that she stuck to her ideals about what she wanted to happen with him physically until she knew where their relationship was headed.
Brittany was pretty mean and got what she deserved in the end!
3) When The Lights Go Down by Krista Ames
This story really sends the message that what you think you see may not really be what you see after all!
DJ (Derrick) Anderson never understood why ex-girlfriend Regan Fleming stopped talking to him all of a sudden. When they are able to talk things through after a concert the truth comes out and they are able to sort through it all.
I felt bad for both of these characters but especially Derrick as he had no clue on why Regan was avoiding him. Glad they were able to sort things through!
4) She Came With the Tide by Viviana Mackade
This was one of my favorite stories in this set as it was different than the others with Andrea's past.
I loved Erik (Ax) Axelsson has he had accomplished everything he wanted to as a rock star and chose to live a simpler life and still wrote songs and lived the life that he wanted to. He was very trusting with Andrea but knew that she was on the run from something/someone.
Andrea Smith was a great character who is trying to protect not only herself but Erik as well once she discovers who he is. She is worried about running from her past and is confused on why Erik wants to confront it. I was mad when she made the decision at the end as she knew what could happen but wanted to protect Erik from David.
I loved how Andrea found her inner strength and made some tough choices at the very end! Hope she gets her happy ever after like she deserves (besides getting Erik)!
5) What If by R.M. Duffy
Mia Jones definitely deserves her happy ever after after finding out her husband was cheating on her and it's funny that she fell for a rock star! Yet she fell for a rock star that she had been following since they began 10 years ago.
Shane Reynolds couldn't understand how his best friend left the band for a woman yet he never found one that could capture his attention until Mia. I hated the way that Andrea treated Mia and I was glad that Shane stuck up for him and that Mia knows how important the band is to Shane!
6) Rock Steady by D'Ann Lindun
Dalton "Stoney" Stone was a great character that was so jaded by love and couldn't understand how everyone around him was finding their perfect matches. I loved how he kept propositioning Maura Whittaker but that she shoots him down, not wanting to be another conquest.
I felt bad for Maura and the way she was treated by the women in her hometown as she made a mistake but was not the only one to do so. She is scared of making another mistake, especially after Stoney says he's not looking for a girlfriend or wife.
I liked that Stoney was able to figure out what he really wanted and that once Maura and Stoney were able to tell their stories they were able to work through everything.
Zinger by Nikki Lynn Barrett: I'm so happy that Zinger will be turned into a full length novel. I look forward to continuing Zeke and Ariel's story!
Rock Me Softly by Lisa Kumar: Jessica and Lucien's story is one of my favorites. Lisa Kumar is a new author to me and I love her writing style.
When the Lights Go Down by Krista Ames: I was rooting for Derrick (Dj) and Regan. They are a sweet couple. I enjoyed the glimpse into the personalities of Derrick's band members. I would love to read Keaton's and Ash's stories. I hope they get a novella. :)
She Came With the Tide by Viviana Mackade: I liked Erik. He was one of my favorite heroes. Erik and Andrea were perfect for each other and I really enjoyed their story.
What If by R.M. Duffy: I loved Mia and Shane's story. They were one of my favorite couples. I look forward to reading more from R.M. Duffy.
Rock Steady by D'Ann Lindun: I am a big fan of D'Ann Lindun! I loved returning to Black Mountain, Colorado for Cowboy and Montana's wedding. I really enjoyed Rock Steady and am glad that Maura and Dalton (Stoney) found each other.
I love that all of the books in this set are tied together by Cowboy's wedding to Montana. If you want to read Cowboy and Montana's story, check out Call Me Cowboy by D'Ann Lindun. Call Me Cowboy is full of action, suspense, love and loss. There are several twists and unexpected outcomes. Loved it!
This is a great anthology with a wonderful variety of stories within the same genre with the last story tying things up nicely.
Nikki Barrett I really enjoyed the verbal play between Zeke and Ariel, it built up tension as well as showed they were not going to fall under the 'lust' spell from the get go. Their chemistry together is fabulous and I look foto reading more about them in the promised novel.
Lisa Kumar
What a sweet romance this story is and so entertaining. Insecurities and vulnerabilities can do so much damage but on the other hand trust and love can help so much.
Krista Ames
This story really showcases how miscommunication can turn your life upside down. I really enjoyed the wit in this story.
Viviana Mackade
The mystical quality of Andrea intrigued Erik and he appreciated the homely characteristics she possesses more than the showy, sexy women from his past. A deep and sensual passion was ignited.
Rhonda Duffy
This story instantly grabs you, a wonderful debut by this author. The characters are real and believable as well as the feelings evoked by the story.
D'Ann Lindun
I loved the culmination in this story and it's sweet romance too. It's not imperative readers read 'Call Me Cowboy' or any of D'Ann's Black Mountain stories before this novella but it really added that something special, like all of D'Ann's books.
I received a free ARC of this box set and am voluntarily writing an honest review.
Sexy rock stars and romance....what more can you ask for? Although each story is a standalone, there is some overlap. All they stories culminate in a wedding they all attend in the last book. Each of these authors drew me into their stories with realistic characters and amazing storylines. I hope these stories are turned into full length books because I loved the characters so much! You cannot go wrong with this box set!
When I first began the box set, I was apprehensive about reading about so many rock and rollers, , but I was delightfully wrong. A great set with a variety of romance! Each storyline's heroines are strong and their heroes hot. I was pleasantly surprised by the endings with some twists and thrills. You will not be disappointed by these stories. The authors have created a real entertainment pleasure. Do not hesitate!
Very happy to be part of this set. I went on a binge read and enjoyed all of the other author's stories in the rock star set! It was a fun project to do!
I absolutely loved this boxed set. A great set of stories about Rock Stars written by some amazing authors. My favorite part is that the characters in each book, by different authors, are intertwined in each story. This is definitely a great read. You won't be sorry!!
