Ding Dong Spithilda Roach is dead! And nobody's crying.

But the witch of Hagsmoor didn't die of natural causes. Which can only mean one of two things:
a) One of her attempts at gloomy magic backfired (again.)
or
b) One of Spithilda's haters finally had enough.

Hattie and her eight immortal moggies are put to the task of uncovering Spithilda's cause of death, but soon come face to face with the angry witch's past. Little did they know they'd be met with tales of unrequited love, jealousy, revenge and full moon mania.

The inner sorceress is still beckoning Hattie; becoming louder, more insistent. But, will she hear the call this time? Or, can she and The Infiniti find Spithilda's killer without getting dragged into the magical mayhem?
Tick-Tock, Hattie. Tick-Tock.

Part two of eight part series: Hattie Jenkins & The Infiniti Chronicles.

The Violet Countercharm by Pearl Goodfellow is the second installment in the Hattie Jenkins and the Infiniti Chronicles. Spithilda Roach may be one of the richest residents of the island, but she lives alone with her dog out at Hagsmoor at least until she is poisoned. Once again Hattie is called upon by Detective Trew to assist in the murder investigation because of her herb knowledge and great instincts, and the cats can't help but lend a paw.

The mystery is entertaining, and the cats are hilarious. 4 stars.

I got lost in the story, I was drawn to the turn of every page. There was so much detail in the presentation , I felt like I was Hattie and I wanted to solve the case. As in the 1st book, the Infinity cats were classic, funny, witty, helpful. I cannot wait to find out what their ties are to the family.

I can see that Hattie is getting closer to allowing herself to take advantage of her true heritage and I am in utter anticipation to see how strong and powerful of a witch she is.

To all that have never delved into Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, this is definitely a change you should make and pick up this series of books by Pearl Goodfellow. She is an Author that took me by surprise and gave me something more to add to my physical collection.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Purple, Passionate, and Plots! This is the 2nd book in the Hattie Jenkins & the Infiniti Chronicles. As always I love this series and it's humor; but in addition to that there were full moons, ghosts, toxic plants and plenty of rants from Hattie and the Infiniti.

Emotions and acceptance was bubbled to the surface for some of the town's inhabitants. Bad food, indigestion, fire balls and love potions -- wow let's not leave out the dead body!

Plots within plots turned up! What will Hattie and the Chief be up to next in book #3, I'm looking to find out!

Excellent follow through

The characters continue to be the major draw to this series, particularly the cats who are just plain fun. The backstory is beginning to develop in addition to the primary mystery and looks to be developing in good directions. I do like her world building, which while not really unique, still has a different flavor to others of its kind. I am looking forward to book three.

Who killed the witch?

Awesome! Hattie and the cat posse are back in an investigation of another death. This has everything - witches, talking cats, spells, a murder and even some Fae and zombies thrown in. Together they mix into a terrific read. Highly recommended

Hattie's back, and there's another weird murder on her plate. The cats are up to all kinds of mischief as well as helping (although Carbon may burn down the place if he doesn't get his indigestion under control). They're flying all over collecting those elusive clues.

Another fine mess to solve

Another murder to solve, this time almost no one liked the victim though. As the Chief and Hattie work through the suspect list all of them turn up clean, even the ghost can't seem to give them a hint. But Hattie won't give up and she'll even try magic again to protect her family.

The plot thickens

A simple murder or the opening gambit to a hostile Fae takeover - only time will tell. Yet another spellbinding tale.

2nd book better than the 1st!

I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series and the continued role the cats play in solving or assisting with the investigation of the crime. Great story and the plot is good with great lead into future books! Keep them coming!

Keeps you reading and guessing 'Who did it'?

Love the paranormal mystery enough to be thinking about them when I'm not reading! I also love that the main character is a witch running an apothecary!
I have been using essential oils for quite a few years and Love making lotions and potions, for myself and friends. To read a book and understand completely about the herbs that are being described is AWESOME!
