A good girl with an edge, a bad boy with a heart, and a devastating secret.
Sloane: “I dare you to kiss Marshal.” If I knew what was good for me I would have run a mile when I heard those words. But I didn’t, and now Marshal, the campus bad boy, is stalking me—his version of courting.
Marshal: I’ll admit to nobody that I’m a sheep in wolf’s clothing. My reputation served me well until Sloane got close enough to peel away the façade. But our parents have a crazy secret that is tearing Sloane apart. And it might spell doom for our relationship—just when I’ve lost my heart.
Is love enough for Marshal and Sloane, or are there too many obstacles?
The Dare is a contemporary Christian New Adult Novel.
Dayo Benson is passionate about using fiction to convey powerful messages about redemption and God's love. When she is not writing she enjoys music, reading and going for long walks. She lives in North West England with her husband and their two beautiful daughters.
Sloane is a Christian because that was the way she was raised by her mother, but her father is not. Sloane and her mother does not have the best relationship and when she discovers her mother’s secret she starts to question faith and hypocrisy of the church people. Sloane also starts to develop a relationship with a supposed to be bad boy who is not a Christian, but because he has always had a crush on her, his views start to change. Problem is he sets out dating Sloane for all the wrong reasons putting their relationship in jeopardy.
This is a great book. It is written in a way that sees into the society that we currently live in and the sin that temps even the strongest Christian. Mrs. Benson writes in a way that helps you feel for the characters in both hurt and happiness. The decisions they make can pull them toward or away from God and we are there championing for them to make the right choice. I can’t wait to continue this series and her others..
I think I was about to not give this book a real chance because the main characters were college students and I honestly prefer reading about older people but this is a really good book and full of good topics. Sloane and Marshall have quite the journey to love! But God is behind the scenes as I see it!
This book made my heart go goop boop 💖. Which is wired cause this should be a nice Christian read 📚 but ehhh. I used to wonder why parents think we don't know when things are not okay with them.
Book two is making me see things differently. Over to book two the bet.
This is a lovely tender piece of writing. Love the lead characters and the topics covered. Although fiction very relatable especially the character Marshal coming to salvation. Can't wait to read the next book.
I received an ARC of this book. This review is voluntary and is my honest opinion.
I've been curious to read this book since. Personally I was on the edge with this book plotting how things would unravel in my head and what way. It was good
This was a really good book. It keeps.your interest from the beginning to the end. It is well written and gives the reader a lot to think about in our Christian walk.
When reading a novel, you do not find one better than with a story-line set with a faithful human being willing to take a chance on another. Hope is something that has been missing from this world for quite sometime, so when reading a story based on the goodness founded on Christ Jesus- it's a wonderful thing!
