As a new Guardian for the Black Mesa Wolf Pack, Jace Canagan has one shot left at creating a good life for himself. Years ago, his childhood was abruptly shattered by unspeakable violence. He let bitterness and anger chase away all those who tried to save him from himself. Ten long, soul-seeking years later, he's now finally created both purpose and balance in his life. Although the old pain still won't let him get close to anybody, he's an essential part of a pack again. Nothing will keep him from blowing his last chance at a fresh start.
Nothing, that is, except meeting the mate he never expected to have...or want.
Single mother Caitlin Rendall is strong and self-assured. She had to be, when the father of her twin pups abandoned his young family. Wary of men and ferociously vigilant about her children's safety, she doesn't need any man's help. Why should she, when she's done just fine all on her own? But her entire world is shaken when she meets Jace--because the unbearably sexy, just as fiercely independent man is her mate.
He's her one shot at having her own protector wolf...if only she can allow her heart to lead the way.

Title: Protector Wolf Series: Black Mesa Wolves Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: J.K. Harper Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #Paranormal #WolfShifter My Score: 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆ •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I really enjoyed this book it was great because it gave you a sense of the life in the den, that is a family, the togetherness, fighting, the love. Ms. Harper hits it right on the nail, she write a fantastic story. Jace Canagan is a wolf shifter who lived with the Black Mesa Pack. But because of a devastating experience, Jace had a very troubled angry past. Taking years of wondering and his mentor Jace is back to be a Guardian for the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. While teaching some of his moves , Jace was literally bit on top of the Mating bug. Caitlin Rendall is a techno geek she-wolf visiting her brothers pack and fixing there computers. Kinda like a vacation for her and the adorable twins. Never would she have believed she'd find her mate. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Jace Canagan knows he only has this one last chance to be part of the Black Mesa Wolves once again. He has been invited back by the Alpha but he still has to prove himself worthy.
The last thing he expects is to be attacked by two young pups, and their mother is even a bigger surprise. He recognizes she is his mate but this is not the time.
Caitlin Rendall is raising the pups alone, their father left and now she really doesn't want to get involved with any male. Jace is a surprise and she really isn't sure how to react other than to discipline the pups.
There is quite a bit of fun between Jace and the pups as this book goes on. However, both he and Caitlyn avoid each other. They both have their reasons, but really when it comes to mating is there really a choice?
A light-hearted fun read with just the right amount of sizzle.
I loved this book when I read it as part of the Black Mesa Wolves Box Set. Black Mesa Wolves Box Set by J. K. Harper is a set of nine different books of the series all put together into the perfect reading order in one group. The nine books included in this set are: Guardian Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Hunting Wolf, Wild Wolf, Solstice Wolf, Christmas Wolf, New Year Wolf, Protector Wolf, and Fire Wolf. Every one of the books in this set was a wonderful read. Each individual book features a different couple who were forever mate and all of the stories are tied together as members of the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. I think anyone who loves reading about shifters or paranormal romance will love this box set where everyone eventually gets their happy ever after ending.
Sometimes I imagine that it might be hard to care for someone else's pups, but then as long as you love them as your own who will ever know the difference. This is the perfect love story for those who believe that love is powerful enough to get through anything.
This story has many laughs and there will be times you will want some Kleenex. Watching Jace with the pops will make you wonder why he ever had doubts, until you understand his story.
J.K. Harper and her Black Mesa Wolves Series are a wonderful and exciting read!!
Jace and Caitlin along with her adorable twins really bring this book to life. Full of suspense and doubt of oneself but Caitlin has a heart of gold and shows Jace how love can heal ones pains from the past.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this 2nd book of the Black Messa Wolves.. 4.5 Stars Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
I voluntarily read this advanced readers copy of this story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was interesting and well written. I loved how the author was able to keep my attention from start to finish. The story line was well thought out and entertaining. I just hope there is more books in this series.
I really enjoyed reading this book, about second chances on both sides! How the love for two young ones can push you away from each other, but love for each other and the children can become overwhelming as the pull between mates is life altering! I look forward to reading more of your books, thanks again for your skill at writing a good story!
I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. I enjoyed the beginning of the story with the two wolf cubs attacking Jace, who has come back to his pack. This book has all the elements of a good shifter romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great addition to series. It's been a while since I've read this series so i had to do a reread. No drama,no violence just a good look at pack life. Jace and Caitlin meet at Black Mesa den and realize they are mates.
Jace and Caitlin story is one of perseverance against the odds, they have both been through bad experiences that still haunt them but little by little they learn to trust.
I enjoy this author's stories and this another great one from her. Jace was traumatized at a very young age when he saw his parents and others in his wolf pack brutally killed by a rogue pack. He was taken in by the Alpha of the Black Mesa Wolf Pack, but he always felt as if he did not belong and was always in trouble as a result. When he was 17, he left the pack and roamed the world, unaware that Channing Bardou the Black Mesa Alpha had contacts with wolf packs everywhere and thus was keeping tabs on Jace. Evenually Channing called Jace home to Black Mesa. He had learned a lot about fighting and martial arts from a mentor in South America and was now going to teach thee things to the Guardian Wolves of the pack. While giving a demonstration, he was attacked from behind by two little wolf cubs. When he looked at their mother who was chastising them for the attack his wolf announced Mine, My Mate. But Jace felt that he could not take a mate and be a father because of his history. He was getting closer to Caitlin and her cubs, but one day they met in the town and Jace and Caitlin were distracted for a moment and the twins darted into the street in front of a truck and were nearly killed. Jace just managed to get to them and roll out of the way of the truck. New he was certain that he could never be a good father and protector as a mate was meant to be; so he said goodbye to Caitlin and went off on pack business. But he had promised the twins that he would be there for supper the night before they and their mother were to leave for their home pack. On that night, they sat down to supper with their family, but Jace was not there. Then there was a knock on the door and Jace was there. Kieran, Caitlin's brother and his mate Lily kept the twins with them for the night and Jace and Caitlin went to his cabin, where he told her that he had finally realized that he could no longer deny that she was his Mate and her cubs were his cubs as well and they were a family. I purchased this story as part of the Shifters in the Spring box set.
A romantic tale that challenges the mating call, two cute twin pups, passionate fiery romance, and a heavenly happy ever after when all the obstacles are put to rest.
Jace has come back to the Black Messa Wolf to start his new life as a Guardian. He has been away for more than ten years and is now a force to be reckoned with. During a training session, he is shocked to meet his mate Caitlin and her twin cubs. Caitlin feels she is doing fine on her own, and Jace is not ready for a mate especially one that already has cubs. The cubs take a liking to him and he immediately feels protective and strong feelings for them. Will the two give in to the mating call or walk away???
Fast-paced fabulously written read that lures you and keeps you hooked with the intriguing plot, vivid scene description, engaging dialogue and wonderful characters. There are ups and downs in this romantic tale that Jace and Caitlin face, but in the end, they do come together. Jace is definitely her protector; loved them together and the twins are precious. A most entertaining read. If you treasure shifter romance this is a terrific book for your library. {I enjoyed this read so much that I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy}. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
Haven’t read a Black Mesa Wolf book for years, bought Guardian Wolf a long time ago. They just seemed to not be written for a while. I will be looking into catching up with them. A good story but just did not understand Jace’s reluctance to claim his mate, it was not the fact she has two cubs as he adores them. We learnt a lot about Jace’s history and understood him but Caitlyn and her cubs background is never really explained, the cubs father is never explained. I came away feeling like I had missed out on something, not sure if there is more information in the series. Caitlyn is Kieran’s sister after all so there may be more in his story about her. Book had a few editing mistakes and Jace was called Jay at one point. Other than these points a good read.
This is the second book in the Black Mesa Wolves series I have read. The first was Fire Wolf. Although it would be nice to read them in order to know how the other couples got together it is not needed. I felt both books could be considered standalones.
I loved Caitlin and Jace but I think I loved her twins, Briana and Liam, even more. The pups were just too freaking adorable! This is a cute story of a single mom who meets her mate, a guy who never thought he wanted children. Despite his thinking that, the bond Jace developed with Briana and Liam was really sweet. There were so many moments while reading that I caught myself grinning. I just really loved this storyline. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Jace and Caitlin met when one of her twins bit him on the leg. They both lectured them on not biting people. Jace went to dinner at her brother's house later. Jace had some problems to work through. He wanted Caitlin as his mate. He was not sure about being an instant daddy. The kids were sure. They followed him around doing what he did. He started teaching them things, like hunting and they enjoyed a lot. Do they become a happy shifter family? Stay tuned, this isn't TV. This should say, keep turning those pages and enjoying these wonderful shifters of the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. I volunteered to review this ARC book nestled in Shifters in the Spring box set using my own opinion.
Great book for a quick but satisfying read. Received the book this morning read it during my lunch hour and wished the story was longer. I don't think we have seen the last of Jace and Caitlin.
The twins Liam and Briana are a "cute" riot. Wait until they get their own story these two are not afraid of much.
Black Mesa Wolves read the series you will not be disappointed. Start with Guardian Wolf (Paranormal Shapeshifter Romance) (Black Mesa Wolves #1
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from the author without obligation to do so.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Jace has had a very bad childhood, but he has come back to the pack and now is a guardian wolf, he is a loner. Caitlyn has come to Black Mesa to visit her brother and sister in law, she has brought her twins with her. When her twins attack Jace she is mortified. I LOVED how this story plays out. two broken lost souls find each other and have a beautiful family together
Sweet shifter story that has Jace finding his mate Caitlin but a ready made family with her pups Briana and Liam ( 6 year old twin hellions). Due to his unusual upbringing Jace feels like he can't be a good father or mate, it takes nearly losing them to bring him around . 4⭐'s for a truly sweet paranormal romance, minimal PDA. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
An amazing read!! There was an immediate bond between Jace and Caitlin. I loved that instant connection and the internal fight they both had to push it away, trying to deny what they felt. Such strong characters with a sweet, satisfying story!

This is a very enjoyable story for those who love paranormal romances. You have two shifters who have had tough times and when they meet, they are not sure what to do about the connection. She is very protective of her children and doesn't want them hurt. They have to navigate some real issues to find love.
