Nine out of ten people use psychoactive substances on a regular basis, making it essential for all healthcare providers to be knowledgeable about both prescription and recreational drugs. Memorable Psychopharmacology uses a conversational tone, catchy mnemonics, visual aids, and practice questions to ensure that you not only learn the material but retain it far into the future. For anyone preparing to meet the mental health needs of their patients (including medical students, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, physician assistances, social workers, and more), Memorable Psychopharmacology is an indispensable review.
As a medical student who is obssesed with brain and other related stuff. I found this book very interesting, psychopharmacology is to some extent alittle daunting but Jonathan made a promise at the beginning of the book to make this book funny and memorable. And I think he kept his promise along every chapter in the book. On the other hand, I think you will not perceive the fun unless you have a vigorous will and commitment to learn. At the end, you will have a vivid background about popular neurotransmitters involved in common psycho-mental disorders.
Great for teaching medical students, or quick reference for non-psychiatrists. Clear writing style with useful memory tools. Quizzes included at the end of each chapter reinforce the material and there is a much longer test at the back. Psychiatrists will not find it detailed enough, but they are not the target audience.
This quick text has a lot of innovative mnemonics and cartoons that give you a solid memory. It's updated with new drugs. It has a lot of clinical tips. I like the section at the end of each chapter "Put it all together". The chapters of substance use and drug drug interactions are so well written and fruitful.
I love this kind of book. The contents in the book is very useful and enjoyable to read, surprisingly :D The only things that annoy me is that I read it on my kindle and when it came to those review questions, i need to turn many more pages to get the answer and once I got there, i already forgot the question :( maybe I would give 5* to the hard copy :P)
Excellent read, useful and intelligent, the mnemonics mentioned are easily forgettable but filled with necessary and applicable information. Will definitely read it again.
