Your eyes meet mine, then retreat Softness behind glass Let me break your barriers
The poem on the blackboard enticed her to enter. Just like everyday…
Writer, Beth, visits the same café every afternoon, enjoying her latte and a chocolate truffle while scribbling in her notebook. The delicious treats keep her coming back day after day, not to mention the inspiration she finds there – Samuel. The barista is tall, dark and delicious, and his stare could melt chocolate from a hundred paces.
Since her divorce, Beth’s love life has been close to extinct, but the sight of Samuel, his dark, brooding good looks and amazing dragon tattoo, kick it into overdrive. A smouldering volcano waiting to erupt in flames of passion. But Beth knows it’s unlikely he’d go for her, an older woman, when he could have anyone.
Over the course of a week, the tension between them rises almost to boiling point. When Beth’s friend lets it slip that Beth fancies Samuel, in fact she has a mega crush on him, their customer/barista relationship is tested…but could it be more than one-sided? Is Samuel writing the blackboard poems especially for Beth? Could he be watching and wanting her too?
Note: Chocolate Truffle Kiss is a novelette of approximately 9500 words. This edition also contains an excerpt of Cassandra O'Leary's debut novel, Girl on a Plane.
Beth read the lovely poem on the blackboard as she entered the café. She was infatuated by the handsome barista, Samuel. She imagined he wrote those poetic lines just for her. Too bad he was 10-15 years younger and unavailable to her. She sat down to her writing as Samuel delivered her latte with a heart design on top and a chocolate truffle on the side to enjoy on her half hour break.
Beth met with her friend, Jenny, at the café. Jenny wanted to kickstart Beth’s love life again since her divorce a year ago. Jenny looked at Samuel and announced in a loud voice that he was hot and he obviously wanted Beth. Beth was embarrassed. As they talked, it seemed like she and Jenny, with her condescending attitude, had little in common anymore.
Each day Beth goes back to the café to read the beautiful poetry and have her special latte. She has a big crush on Samuel and enjoys her interaction with him, even though it leaves her breathless. She imagines the poems are written just for her and she daydreams about the possibilities. Can she trust in herself enough to open up to this special man and give them a chance?
This was a really nice story about relationship and deepening friendship. It was well written and the characters were well developed. It was such a comfortable story that played out day by day and drew the reader in. I definitely recommend it! I was given a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. My comments reflect my honest opinion.
Truffle kiss. This book was a sweet romance story. A young barista falls in love with an older woman as well as the older woman falling for the younger man. They expressed their attraction through poetry. When they finally profess their love it becomes magical! Good read! I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s.
I don't know what the difference is between a short story and a novelette, but I usually don't like reading either, because they are too short and leave too many unanswered questions. But this was very sweet. Beth is divorce, in her mid thirties, feeling alone. except for her mid day breaks when she walks into her favorite coffee shop, where she oogles the barista, enjoys the mysteries poems on the wall and works on her short stories. Little does she know that the barista is watching her too.
Oh-la-la this is deliciously sexy. Cassandra O'Leary has a decadent way with words in this bite-sized chocolate goodness read. Coffee, check. Chocolate, check. Loveable heroine, check. Sexy and mysterious tattooed barista, double-check. Teeny tiny snippets of melt-your-heart poetry, check. What more could you want? Enjoy!
I loved this delightful short & sexy romance by Cassandra O'Leary. The snippets of poetry were enticing, while the cafe setting rich with the aroma of coffee and the decadent taste of chocolate was a perfect backdrop for this deliciously satisfying romance. Highly recommended read.
Beth, a divorcee lusts after the barista, Samuel, at her favourite coffee shop, unaware that he also is attracted to her. They bond over coffee, truffles and music. Nice short read. (I voluntarily reviewed this free ebook.)
Beth and Samuel, a barista at her favorite coffee shop pass Monday thru Saturday in this book. You will sit with her and here what she is thinking about her age, his looks and her divorce. There are also, new cute poems for her to read everyday and always a chocolate truffle with her coffee. It is a very short, sweet read. I would recommend it for that. I read and reviewed honestly an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
3.5🌟 stars Cute set-up with a woman attracted to her handsome, younger barista. I liked the bulk of the story but the end was a bit of a rush to get the steam in. Too bad the end did not quite live up to the start for me.😕
I read a complimentary copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Adorable, fun, sexy and sweet. Coffee and chocolate truffle…yum! Loved the cutesy little poems at the beginning of each chapter, poems that tempted Beth to enter the cafe each day and to stare at the hot barista. Love is in the air or the chocolate truffle!
This is a very short sweet read. Sexy barista has the hots for older woman, they say a few words to each other every day for months, then all of a sudden they have a date and wake up in love, very little chemistry or steam, not my type of book.. recommended for a light quick fun read. I would like to read more from this author in full length books.. I received a free copy of this book and would like to thank the author for it.
Chocolate Truffle Kiss is a sweet, sexy and sumptuous read. The perfect bite sized novelette to sink your teeth into while relaxing with a cup of coffee. Cassandra O'Leary is quickly becoming a favourite author. Her funny, sassy voice is a delight to read and her characters pop off the page.
A nice, quick read with a lovely hero and a heroine who learns to break out of her shell. This was cute. and makes me want to check out more by this author.
