Jennifer and Christopher Martucci hoped that their life plan had changed radically in early 2010. To date, the jury is still out. But late one night, in January of 2010, the stay at home mom of three girls (all under the age of six) had just picked up the last doll from the playroom floor and placed it in a bin when her husband startled her by declaring, “We should write a book, together!” Wearied from a day of shuttling the children to and from school, preschool and Daisy Scouts, laundry, cooking and cleaning, Jennifer simply stared blankly at her husband of fifteen years. After all, the idea of writing a book had been an individual dream each of them possessed for much of their young adult lives. Both had written separately in their teens and early twenties, but without much success. They would write a dozen chapters here and there only to find that either the plot would fall apart, or characters would lose their zest, or the story would just fall flat. Christopher had always preferred penning science fiction stories filled with monsters and diabolical villains, while Jennifer had favored venting personal experiences or writing about romance, as romance was far easier to invent fictitiously than it was to attain in real life. Inevitably though, frustration and day to day life had placed writing on the back burner and for several years, each had pursued alternate (paying) careers. But the dream never died. And Christopher suggested that their dream ought to be removed from the back burner for further examination. When he proposed that he and his wife author a book together on that cold January night, Jennifer was hesitant to reject the idea outright. His proposal sparked a discussion, and the discussion lasted deep into the night. By morning, the idea for the Dark Creations series was born.

The Dark Creations series was written while Jennifer and Christopher continued with their day to day activities and raised their young children. They changed diapers, potty trained and went to story time at the local library between chapter outlines and served as room parents while fleshing out individal sections of the book. Life simply continued. And in some ways, their everyday lives were reflected in the characters of the series. In fact, the main female characters are named after three very important people in their lives: their three daughters. Their likenesses end there, however.

As the story line continues to evolve, so too does the Martucci collaboration. Lunches are still packed, noses are still wiped and time remains a rare and precious commodity in their household in upstate New York, but it is the sound of happy chaos that is the true background music of their writing. They hope that their work, though penned for a young adult audience, will be appreciated by the young of every age, and that all enjoy reading it as much as they enjoyed writing it.

One of the best series I've read in quite some time.

Originally I picked up the free 3 book set of books 1-3, but was immediately hooked and purchased the rest of the entire nine book set. The first parts of the series which follows the adventures of the heroine in a post-war apocalyptic wolf was very good and easy to read. Lots of action, plot twists and even interspersed with some occasional humor. About half way through the series there was a character grouping change the moves from following the heroine and that familiar set of characters, to a completely different cast, involving a male character and a different group. At that point, I thought I would loose interest since following the previous heroine had been excellent, however, the quality of the author's writing and storytelling continued and I was compelled to remain immersed in the storyline. The adventure continued and remained fun, with new plot twists and exciting adventures. Quickly finishing the entire series, I eagerly await the continuation of more books to follow from the author! I highly recommend this series for all ages, from teen to adult, as a great post-apocalyptic series!

The Urth Series (all 9 books)

I have read all nine of the Urth series books, they keep you reading as fast as you can, unable to put each book down. Very fast paced, interesting, and very good reading. They stopped to soon as I want to continue reading about all the different people that are in the books. I hope that the authors will change threatening and write more in this series

Five stars if the series gets a finale that works. This Planet Urth dystopian series has two distinct parts. Both are about family , survival and loss. Both are fast paced with constant violence and heartbreaking story lines. But believable? Sometimes . Repetitive scenarios ? Yes . Addictive? Absolutely.

I loved this series!

I'd have given this book a 5, but gee what a disappointing ending to the series. One more in the near future to tie it all up? Hope so!

I have quite enjoyed this series. I finished book 6 a few years ago, when at the time, that was it. Just recently discovered there were three more books to the series. Just finished book 9, and am left very frustrated. There clearly needs to be a 10th book. The way the authors ended this book, just leaves you hanging. Now that the gang finds out who Garan is, there needs to be one more book to finish out the series completely. Is Garan going to be the new ruler of Sinsity? Is he going to stay true to his roots/beliefs of co-existing with the humans? Is he going to remain a loyal friend to the others? Is everyone else finally going to be able to settle down and not have to worry about their lives. What finally happens between Lucas and Reyna? These are all questions I need to know, but figure I am not going to get.

Lots of Action!

The plot is fast-paced and complex-- I couldn't put the book down until I had finished it! There were a few grammatical errors, but since that is common in books nowadays I didn't lower my rating.
