M.A. Church is a true Southern belle who spent many years in the elementary education sector. Now she spends her days lost in fantasy worlds, arguing with hardheaded aliens on far-off planets, herding her numerous shifters, or trying to tempt her country boys away from their fishing poles. It’s a full time job, but hey, someone’s gotta do it!

When not writing, she’s on the back porch tending to the demanding wildlife around the pond in the backyard. The ducks are very outspoken. She’s married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two grown children.

This was super cute and super hot story of how Cupid aka Cam showed jaded and cynic Jeff what love is and that there is no going against Fate. I loved both main and secondary characters - they all were likable and relatable. I liked how Cam wooed Jeff, how he opened his eyes to the world he didn't know existed. There were funny and romantic moments, plenty of hot steamy encounters that were well written and a bit of angst. I loved Cupid/Jealousy and how Jeff got to him with kindness and patience. Overall, Cupid's story didn't disappoint.

I'm not going to rate this one because it really would not be fair. I never would have read this book in the first place if I had known it was so heavy on the paranormal. I absolutely loved Priceless, the first book in the series, which used the "Gods" as very minor secondary characters overlooking the two MC's relationship. I can barely remember them. This book is heavy on the "Gods" and the paranormal and I found it ridiculous and silly. That is my reading taste, 100%, hence no rating.

Do you like mythology? You will probably enjoy this book. Personally I felt absolutely no love connection between the two MCs but I stopped reading at about 45%, so maybe one eventually happened. I stopped shortly after this happened:

If that sounds icky, go read Priceless! That one fucking rocked!

This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Cam (Cupid) has got Jeff in his sights, Jeff laid a challenge down at Cam’s feet and now he is taking up the gauntlet, Jeff will fall in love and Cam knows just the man to fill the position. Jeff had a bad experience with love in the past and will steer clear of it now, but when he meets Cam he finds him irresistible and finds himself rethinking everything he knew about love.

This is a cute story with a large dose of the Gods and rethinking one’s self-image. Cam has a very active role in this story as he becomes one of the MC’s, Jeff is the man he wants as a mate, but first he has to coax Jeff into wanting more than just one night, it also doesn’t help that Zeus doesn’t approve of human mates. Jeff was burnt badly in the past and now has a love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude, meeting Cam is a shock, especially when Cam turns him down and it isn’t long before Jeff is hooked, but he still has to be careful of his heart. Things start to go wrong when Zeus interferes, Jeff’s ex-boyfriend turns up and Jealousy rears its ugly head.

Jeff and Cam make a great couple, Cam has to break down Jeff’s walls and he has a great plan to do it, Cam has a patience to make Jeff fall in love with him, but they have obstacles to overcome. Jeff has always been in charge and his sex life is no different, but he struggles within himself, when all he wants is Cam to take him. This storyline is quite good, Jeff finally finding true love, but his true love turns out to be Cupid who has a dark side. Cam defies Zeus to take a human mate, and Cam struggles to control his green-eyed monster.

Although I enjoyed this story it fell a little flat, both characters changed for the other person, Cam his age and Jeff his sexual preferences, if they were really meant to be together, like Cam said, then neither one should have changed. They are really hot together and there are plenty of steamy scenes between them. It was wonderful to see Garrett and Randy ( Priceless ) and I also really enjoyed the interplay between Mo (God of Dreams) and Zygi (Jeff’s best friend) and can’t wait for their book; there were a few loose ends that will hopefully be tied up then.

I will recommend this to those who love paranormal, Gods, finding love, putting the past behind you, loving your partner warts and all and a very happy ending.

4,5 Sterne.

A fun, quick read. My only complaint is that this needed some editing before being released. There were a lot of tense errors and typos. Plus the character perspective kept changing with no warning. On sentence it’s Cupid’s point of view and the next it’s Jeff’s only to switch back to Cupid the sentence after that one. Very confusing at first.

A Joyfully Jay Review

The first time Cupid laid eyes on Jeff Mayfield, the man unknowingly issued a challenge in claiming that love wasn’t for him, a challenge Cupid couldn’t walk away from. Four months later, Cupid is back in Las Vegas, this time in his human form as Cam Smith, electronics store manager. Cam plans on making Jeff fall in love with him without the use of Cupid’s arrows. Jeff is his mate, after all. It shouldn’t be that difficult, but humans can be unpredictable.

Jeff Mayfield, casino owner and playboy, has been burned by love in the past and he has no plans on walking that path again. But when Jeff first sees the beautiful blonde man with the amazing blue eyes things take an unexpected turn. Cam is everything Jeff could ever want, and makes Jeff want things that he’s never wanted with any other man. When Cam refuses to sleep with him the first night, Jeff is intrigued by the man who seems to want more than Jeff’s money and power.

Their tentative bond takes time to grow, but Cam is determined to make their relationship less about lust and more about love. And even as their relationship begins, secrets, history, and Jeff’s playboy reputation threaten to tear them apart. The opposite side of love is obsession and jealousy, and when their relationship is threatened, the monster Jealousy may just ruin everything Cam has worked to build with Jeff.

Perfect is the second book in M.A. Church’s The God’s series. The story that Church tells is one of reality mixed with fantasy with a twist of mythology. It’s an interesting world – one where things that look like coincidence are actually part of a bigger picture. It’s a world where the gods of Mount Olympus are still ruling over the world and taking somewhat of a personal interest in humans.

Cupid played a pretty big role in the first book, but in this story Cupid is love in human form. Giving Cupid the alter ego, Jealousy, is a wonderful twist to this story, because love out of control can turn into obsession and jealousy. Cupid’s human identity, Cam, is a pretty likable character. He’s sure of himself and his goals. He’s determined and goal-oriented. He has Jeff in his sights and refuses to give up on what could be between them.

Jeff is probably my least favorite character, and that’s a little disappointing because I wanted to really like him after the first story. And I do like him, just not as much as I’d hoped. He’s a fairly good character. Even in his confusion in the sexual relationship with Cam, Jeff remains strong and constant. But my biggest complaint is the easy acceptance of who Cam really is. I wanted it to be more of a conflict, more of a struggle that would cement their relationship.

I have to admit that I liked this story better than the first installment. It was not perfect, pardon the pun, but it is an adorably sweet romance. I appreciate the MCs taking the time to get to know one another instead of jumping into the I-love-yous. The major conflict is rather predictable and that’s a little disappointing. But still it’s a cute story, and I look forward to reading Zygi and Mo’s story next.

Perfect by M.A. Church, was a nice, light read.

I liked the way the story started. Cupid, god of erotic love had a plan. He wanted to snag for himself a man who didn’t believe in love: Jeff, the owner of a casino. In a few pages, we see the extent of Cupid’s powers and how he has everything planned out to show Jeff that there were “the pleasures of the flesh and there were the pleasures of the heart.”

I was enjoying the story and looking forward to what was to come, when suddenly, two characters took the spotlight: Randy and Garrett. They were talking about a vacation, a wedding, a commitment and what not. Out of the blue, there was a switch in character point of view and I didn’t know what was going on. After trudging through their bickering, I discovered that they were the characters from book 1 and that Cupid had played a role in their love and that they were friends with Jeff. The two pages the author dedicated to them felt out of place. It was as if she felt the need to have everyone know how in love they were and that months after their HEA from book 1 (I’m assuming this, as I haven’t read the first book), they were still going strong. It was an unnecessary point of view change that the book could have done without, as I felt that both characters did not play a sufficiently big role in Perfect for their opinion or their story to matter.

Furthermore, along the book there were other small references to book one of The Gods Series that distracted me from reading and more than making me want to go back to read the first book, annoyed me. The format of the story was also a bit confusing, as there are no chapters and the only thing that distingushes one scene from the next are the character point of view switching.

However, regardless of all the above, the characters were cute. Cupid, with his scheming is sweet. Jeff is adorable with his desperation to get Cupid into bed. But I must admit that my favorite, was Mo (Morpheus). He’s honestly the best in the lot with his naivety on the one hand, and on the other his god-like wisdom. Unlike with the pressure I felt regarding book 1, I do look forward to finding out about Mo in an upcoming book 3.

Another thing I liked was the way M.A. Church introduced a different side to Cupid I had not seen before. Typically envisioned as the sweet and good natured god of love, it was a treat to watch him emerge as a jealous monster. Literally. It was something new and very imaginative on the author’s part. Also, the author aptly managed to build up the sexual tension between the characters, throwing in a fiery kiss here, a blow job there… Finally, a fun fact on the novel that had me smiling: M.A. Church seems to have an obsession with polo shirts (all the characters wear one at some point or another).

All in all, Perfect was an entertaining read, I just wish I’d read book one first!

I think I actually enjoyed Perfect even more than I enjoyed Priceless. Like the first book, much of Jeff’s story takes place over the span of a few days. This time, however, Cupid left his arrows at home and took a much more hands-on approach with Jeff’s love life. Literally. It seems that the challenge that Jeff issued about not needing love was more than our God of Love could resist. While the no-love challenge may have gained Cupid’s attention, it was recognizing Jeff as his mate that made Cupid even more determined to make this match, arrow free.

I loved the “powers” that Ms. Church included for Cupid. Admittedly, Cupid was never one of the gods I was that interested in when I delved into mythology in my youth, so I’m not sure which abilities would be consistent with his mythology and which are of the author’s creation, but it really doesn’t matter because ultimately it was how Cupid wielded his powers in his search for love. While Cupid did considerable research on Jeff before becoming Cam, he used the info he gleaned to predict Jeff’s responses to him rather than trying to trick Jeff into falling for him. Well that and maybe to get Jeff’s attention initially and to interfere with interlopers, but Cupid didn’t once consider using an arrow to influence Jeff’s feelings toward him. Rather, Cupid became Cam and pursued Jeff all on his own, seduced him with his naturally sexy ways (boy did he ever!), and won his man. But don’t let me lead you to believe that Cam and Jeff’s courtship was an easy one, because it wasn’t. We are talking about gods after all, and even the God of Love has higher-ups he has to answer to… or face the consequences. Perfect proved to be the perfect combination of mythology, mischief, foreplay, hot man-on-man action, interfering gods, Jealousy, romance, and love. And with the groundwork Ms. Church laid out for Zygi’s story, let’s just say that I’m glad Pure is already waiting for me on my Kindle.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

If you could pick up on the hints, we knew what to semi expect with this book before we started it. But trust me, even if you picked up on the hints, you will still be shocked!! Holy wowzer there were some parts of this book that just caught me completely off guard because I didn’t see them coming. (Once you read the book you will know what I’m talking about here!)
I was a bit concerned about how I would feel towards the couple in this book, but I ended up enjoying them both. I think I felt more connected to Jeff’s character just because he had been through heartache in his past and was cautious about what was going to happen to him in another relationship.
Cam’s character was the one I had the most mixed emotions about. While I did enjoy him to an extent, I was also a bit weary of him because he’s Cupid! Of course he can make anyone fall in love with him.
I did like how the relationship between Jeff and Cam went along smoothly, there wasn’t any rushing on anyone’s part in particular to push towards something more. I enjoyed being able to follow along with their relationship as it progressed into something more.
Overall, I was still satisfied with this book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Priceless is MA Church's second book in the gods series. It is a look at Cupid's love affair with a mortal. In this book, Cupid is named "Cam"' and the mortal that he falls in love with is Jeff, the owner of a Las Vegas casino. The action gets quite hot between Cupid and his "mate", and true and eternal Romance blooms between the two of them.

Fortunately, there appears to be the possibility of a third story in this series. I am delighted by this author's writing style, and I was disappointed when this book was over. Hopefully, the next story in this series will be more than just 120 pages. I felt a little cheated when the book was over since I really wanted to learn more about the two main characters, and some of the other minor characters in the book.

For me, this is almost 5 out of five stars. The only reason that I'm giving it 4 stars is because the story was so short.

OMFG, I LOOooooooved this book so much more than the first one.. LOVE, LOVE!!
I wish there was more books depicting Cupid and his green eye'd monster like this did. It was just SO good!
I cannot begin to say how awesome it was. REALLY. You just have to read it yourself. A few things left you wondering/a little unanswered but THAT'S WHAT THE SEQUEL IS FOR ISN'T IT?!!??

Ecstatic and all sorts of excitement and anticipation for Mo and Zygi's book!

This was a little different from the previous book. It felt like there was something missing in the main characters' emotional connection. It was just said that Jeff is Cam's mate with no explanation on how that came to be. Also, Cam focuses on "ensnaring" his mate in lust and for me, it made the story come out as shallow.

In the end, the story turned out likeable.. with an HEA ending and hot sex scenes. I liked the first book, Priceless, better.

I love this series! The gods of Greek myth working their magic in the decadent setting of a Vegas casino? It's a match made on Mount Olympus. Once again, M.A. combines her skills of seduction with her sense of humor to craft another incredibly funny, amazingly hot read. The third book in the series, "Pure," is definitely next on my list.

I absolutely despise the name Cupid. I mean, Eros is so many times better. Come on. Pre-pubescent boy-child vs handsome youth? The handsome youth wins, hands down. Eros. Come on.

The blurb sounds like it has some mindfuck, though.
