This was an amazing thriller. Amy... what a great character. She is very intense and wonderfully skilled. I could relate to her and her ability to keep her wits throughout the book! It is a must read!
Heart-racing, can't catch your breath action. Dunn's writing style quickly pulls a reader in and doesn't let go! Amy is in the game of her life in one of the creepiest settings that I can imagine, and if that isn't enough, Dunn keeps the terror flowing with twists that you'll never see coming. The action feels so real, it had me on the edge of my seat, yelling at the character!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore a theme park at night? What about if you had to try to escape one with your life on the line? Do you think you would survive? Den by Randall Allen Dunn is an action thriller novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. When Amy is cast out of the one world she knows, college basketball, due to scandal she hopes that with a new job away and some time she can get her feet back underneath her and get back to the life she once knew. Amy starts her knew job and begins to get to know her coworkers, but what she doesn’t know is that she is starting the fight for her life. With nightfall comes the start of a game where Amy’s life hangs in the balance, she must fight to escape the Theme Park where she works against pairs of teams pitted against her. Those teams come with a variety of ill-will, some hope to capture Amy and keep her, while other team…...hope to kill her. Will Amy be able to survive the night and escape the park with her life? The author does a great job building the characters. The main character, Amy Raven, is well-developed and is a smart & strong female lead. She starts off as emotional and distant, but with time she becomes so connected with the reader. You are rooting for her to win. There was an unexpected twist that I did not see coming and I was pleasantly surprised to see that at the beginning of the book. The second unexpected twist came at the end of the book. Overall, the author does a great job drawing readers in and keeping you engaged. This book was a quick read and did not disappoint, it includes lots of action and suspense that will keep you interested. I highly recommend this book. #bookloungereviewteam
Packed with drama and action from the start, this edge-of-your-seat, young adult novel will grip adults as well as teens. I loved the characters, each one distinctive, as much as the fascinating plot. Randall Allen Dunn is an amazing storyteller, able to make readers feel like they are in the midst of the action as Amy Raven fights to survive in a crazy game of life and death. Her character is wonderfully realistic, flawed, strong, sometimes insecure, other times confident, always worth rooting for. Definitely worth reading and sharing. I look forward to reading another novel by this talented author.
Den reminded me of the Nancy Drew stories I loved as a young adult but, instead of Nancy solving mysteries, Amy is trying to survive while teams of psychopaths try to hunt her down in a demented amusement park game. Den has female protagonist relying on her skills, wits and courage with a healthy dose of violence, suspense and surprises to keep things interesting. You won't look at an amusement park the same way again. A fun, fast read!
Started off reading the sample book and was immediately pulled into this action-packed thriller. Had to buy it.
Our main character, Amy Raven, starts off at an emotional and physical distance away from her family and friends. I could feel her loneliness and exile she was enduring. Amy is such a well-developed character that had me gripped from the start. After learning about her incident and the growing wall between her family and friends, I instantly found myself cheering for her, hoping justice would rise. The story takes a fun turn when the element of danger is thrown into the mix and Amy must fight through the twists and turns hurled at her.
I'll admit (and hopefully not spoiling much) there was a twist I didn't see coming. It was one of those moments where I was thinking yeah I know exactly where the author is going with this. Not the case and I was thrilled to be thrown off. Wasn't as typical as I'd thought. And then one more twist was tossed at the end that also had my head spinning.
Hands down, the character Amy was my girl. She's a smart and strong female character that I really admired. The MC brought encouragement and a beautiful display of survival. This is why I loved this book, these types of stories. Wish to read more books like this. Overall, can't go wrong here. Lots of action and suspense that keeps you interested. It was one of those fun reads where I found myself tearing through the chapters and not paying any mind to the time or percentage of reading progress. Totally immersive. Highly recommend.

Does Amy get out of Gameland or is she stuck to do these guys bidding, will have to read the book to find out. This book had lots of suspense, some humor, excitement. Had cat and mouse vibes throughout theme park. The characters were great, storyline was great, kept my attention throughout the whole book. Can't wait to read more from this author. I give this book 4 stars.
There were some very good, suspenseful moments in the book. A few of the challenges the main character faced definitely had me on the edge of my seat. I felt that the Biblical aspects of the story didn't really fit in with the rest of it, though I think I understand why one story in particular is mentioned.
A few of the action sequences were a little hard for me to follow, specifically the parts dealing with rope and the last ride mentioned. I had trouble visualizing what was going on at those times, but for the most part the action was easy enough to follow.
This book was well-written, and very creative. I liked the theme park, and a lot of things in the story did creep me out. I do feel like some of the scenarios were a little far-fetched, and I would have liked to have seen the main character get a bit more injured, as awful as that sounds. She just came out a bit unscathed in my opinion. But all in all it was a good story.
