"Original version of a # Taking a photo of yourself rather than having someone else take it for you. You try out various filters and select the one that makes you look your best. #Selfienomics version of a # reflecting on different aspects of your life and taking the initiative to improve so that you can be the best version of yourself." And so begins Selfienomics, the first Indian self-help book written for young people by a young entrepreneur who speaks their language. Offering workable, practical advise on how to manage finances, start a business, complete creative projects and how to be a better citizen, Selfienomics is so funny, upbeat and entertaining, it's not just a must-read but also a mast-read.
Revant's "Selfienomics" is one of the best self help books I have read, probably coz' it is NOT a self help book. It is more like a senior/ elder brother talking to you over a drink. With frequent usage of hashtags and Bollywood references, it is a refreshing way of reaching out to the audience. What I like best about the book is the practicality of every suggestion given. Revant doesn't tell you to become a saint, but gives you certain tools against which to measure your own life and live as you would want to.
There was only one point in the book where I vehemently disagreed with the author- it was related to gender and feminism and trust me I totally lost my cool, filling up the book with lots of comments on how what the author's written is completely wrong.... until I reached the end of the chapter where Revant himself clarifies that his understanding of the chapter has improved since he first wrote the draft and that he has retained the draft to give a better understanding to others too. I loved him too much at that moment.
My favourite chapter is the one on religion... You've got to read it to truly appreciate its beauty. Anyway... so, if you are looking for some advice ...given in a fun way... please go for "Selfienomics" - It is awesome!
