This is a soldier's story, from basic training to running a marathon, from studying first aid to prison, from boxing to close protection, to the SAS and hostage rescue, to Mi6. It is a very long and progressive story over many books.
This is the second book in the Wilco: Lone Wolf series and once again I found it enjoyable. Geoff Wolak has a unique writing style which although unusual suits these tales. After reading book 1 I wasn't going to read another in this series but I became hooked and most probably will read several more. This is obviously fiction very exaggerated and there are a few inaccuracies that some may find annoying. To put it in Wilco's words this book is 'a complete load of bollocks' but never the less I found it good fun and a very enjoyable read.
Just finished this second book of the series. It has taken me awhile to get into the British lingo and mannerisims. The first book really caught my attention, the second really hooked me. I am constantly comparing my U S military experience with the British perspective found in these Books and am really enjoying the sililaeities and sifferences. The action is interesting, especially looking at the restrictions the Brit military has to deal with when discharging their assignments. I will continue tomfollow Wilco, these are entertaining stories.
A real bang up story, but non-existent editing makes it a difficult read. Full of good military details.
A real bang up story, full of exiting action and interesting military details. However, the great badly needs editing. Lots of misspellings and other errors.
I didn't rate in the first book very highly but I suppose he had to give you some background info but really glad I stuck with it because this book is great highly recommend it hope the rest are as just as good
I read 300 + books Year, 99.9% sci-fi. Don't know why I pick this up, Probably the cover. Lots of good action, Characters are awesome. Hook up my wife a couple of times during the night Because I was laughing so hard. Some of the tongue and cheek dialog It's just hilarious. I'm on to the 3rd book now.
This author's first book was far fetched, but I was laid up in bed so I stuck with it. This one started out ok, entertaining for the most part, once you get past the superhuman infallibility and preternatural skill of the main character. His descriptions of decompressing chests with a box cutter and pen were cute and wrong, so very very wrong. His description of self surgery due to a one day onset of gangrene was ridiculous. He needs an editor and he need to learn when to stop with a train of thought r a series of ideas, and move the story along. Having sad that, I think he has flashed signs of a gift for humor and dialogue, but really it's a very amateurish chest beating type of storytelling. I stopped reading about 3/4 f the way through this book, I won't be reading any more in the series, which is too bad, because the beginning was strong. Take some classes and get better
Suspend your disbelief, this is an action novel, i.e. Fiction, fantasy, call it what you will. It out-Bonds James Bond, it out-Pitts Dirk Pitt. It is non stop from the start of training, whether it's jumping out of planes and helicopters, fighting the IRA in Ireland, the militias in Serbia or rescuing hostages in Africa, it is all larger than life and twice as much fun. So he can perform heart surgery with a pocket knife and empty biro (it didn't happen), leap from tall buildings with a single bound and defeat a small army with a clapped out rifle, it didn't happen! It is fiction and a WILD AND ENJOYABLE RIDE.
