The sequel to the paranormal fantasy Sylvio: The Preternatural follows the story of Rachel, whose newfound abilities to control the Elemental Spirits thrust her to the epicenter of an epic battle between good and evil.
Sylvio: Past and Present also chronicles the fascinating backstory of Sylvio, a centuries-old vampire who has walked the earth since the time when Germanic Vandals vied for control of the Mediterranean against the mighty Roman Empire.
Together with a small band of werewolves and vampires, Rachel and Sylvio confront the powers of evil—learning along the way that despite suffering inhuman cruelty, all beings are capable of choosing light over darkness.
I had trouble putting this book down! It wasn't chalk full of action and adventure, but added a new twist to the vampirism epidemic that I seem to love. I like that the author gave us a look into Sylvio, one of the main character's past. The only reason that I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was because I felt like the transition back and forth, between the past and present could've been a bit smoother for less confusion. However, I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading the rest in the series.
